The US of A military wanted the Commanche to be a light helicopter like the Little Bird or the Kiowa, to recon duties. It would work that way. But during the 80s military procurement bubble, suddently they wanted it to performe like some "super techno-Apache", and you know, bosses wants BIG contracts. The thing was way overpriced. Drones proved to do the same task with 1/20 of the cost, so it was a waste of money. If you look carefully, US Army is full of that era pieces of (s) machinery. The Humvee was a overgloriefied jeep, a 1M metal coffin. It's huge, but the troops inside are confined. From the POV of a mechanical thing for the armed forces, is simply trash, nor an asset.
Ubuntu Peronista commanche = more speed and better maneuvering, russia = slow helicopters due to long propellers mainly use on lifting heavy Weight land and air vehicles
Can't help but notice how quiet the Mi-28 is compared to most helicopters. Incredibly useful for attacking troop positions, they'll hear the rockets firing before they hear the rotors.
Beautiful. The Mil 28 is graceful, eloquent. It serves a purpose and does its job in buckets of worthiness. The Russians build them beautiful. Sophistication = the balance of simplicity/complexity.
oh... and one thing-I'm from Poland-for 45 years after II World War and before-from 1795 to the end of I World War-for 123(!) years they supported our freedom very well... Much appriciaeted

you too, and thanks... when i was talking about windows, im not sure if it was the mi-24, or 28, or 35, but it was one of the mil family, and plastic composites are stronger than you think, if im right, than thats what they use in some bulletproof glass, not sure though
a lot of people don't know it. But Mi-28 has a compartment for 3 people at the back. This compartment was designed to carry Chuck Norris,Rambo and Arnold Schwarzenegger. (Kidding) But it can carry up to 3 people at the back.
I'll miss this about attack helicopters. Modern ones lack that frightful punch.. That Eurocopter Tiger just.. it's too small or just doens't look right, or something.. The Havoc however, well. look at it, it's ugly, terrifying to see in the eyes of an enemy, you KNOW it's for brutal attacks, much the same as the Apache. Fecking brilliant helo's.
The vertical seating configuration means the helicopter presents a smaller target towards the enemy than if pilot and gunner were sitting side by side.
The main gun as well as all the sensor suites are directly under the gunner's seat, its just a matter of convenience and makes it cheaper than rerouting everything around a forward pilot.
Beautiful chopper,less known to the world to compare with Mi 24 which is widely use all over the world.Im sure it is comparable to many other attack helicopter produce by the west or maybe better

í never stated that the Mi-28 was the most agile helicopter. The lynx, The cobra, and the Ka-50/52 beat it in terms of agility. What I did say was that the mi-28 was more agile then the Apache ...which it is. I already posted a link to Mi-28 doing loops en snap rolls try to keep up.
Well maybe it's different in the West. But there are helicopters designed for that specific role of rescuing troops. The Apache is an 'attack' helicopter designed purely to 'attack' the enemy.
There have been at least 2 cases where people have strapped themselves to the outside of Apache helicopters, one an American rescue of 2 downed Kiowa pilots in Iraq and another British incident where four British troops went to save a wounded comrade in Afghanistan.
Вообще то F 35 это легкий истребитель и не является прямым конкурентом ПАК ФА. И предложили его не просто купить (никому не нужен такой дорогой долгострой, да еще без возможности купить тяжелый комплекс F 22), а принять участие в разработке (походу просто проспонсировать).
Да не было в тендере тех-проблем. Был инцидент во время учений под Нижним Новгородом, на который давили США. А индусы составили список из технических несоответствий. Именно несоответствий, а не проблем. Только вот беда, что в этом списке мы можем только гадать. У Апача же известных преимуществ мало. Основные из них это более полная документация по отказам систем, ну и конечно же опыт боевого применения. А чисто технические зачастую спорны. К примеру одна из первых, это антибликовое остекление.

Именно об этом списке я и писал. Что там имеется ввиду, хрен его знает. А ведь мы на многих примерах можем предполагать, что в первую очередь речь ведется о различии в стандартах оборудования.
@ARISTARD The cobra does not have better armor. It's even lighter armoured then the Apache. Which has been doing all to well against light small arms. Mi-28 on the other hand like it's uncle the hind has been designed to take heavy small arms fire.
Да не, это все общие рыночные нюансы. У F35 несколько иные задачи и прямым конкурентом F22 и ПАК ФА он не является. Другое дело, что к 2020 году у Индии могут смениться приоритеты, Они могут решить, что им просто нафиг не нужны более тяжелые и продвинутые для воздушного боя комплексы, а для оборонных целей F35 более чем достаточно.
these tactics you are talking about are for combat but once again, helis arent always moving, back to my point, armor doesnt choose when to protect, its always there, so when you have to possibly hover, then its there for you, its more of a fail safe, more armor, more protection. you can take down a b-2 spirit(not while in the air of course) in two places with an m-16, because these are weak spots, the mi-28's windows can even withstand direct AP 50 cal. rounds, less weak spots......
and lol means laugh out loud, its not supposed to make something funnnier?...anyway sorry though, really all i meant was the zulu would fit your fast attack heli role better, which is why the apache isnt really one, its a tank buster, the only reported heli dogfights were from around the gulf war, so only sam/ anti air missiles would pose any threat bad enough to have to stay moving, except for the stray rpg, and yeah you have your opinions, and i can respect that, it looks like were not going
