I'm an American veteran, and I can recognize that the Su-27/35 are some of the most capable and stunningly beautiful aircraft ever produced. Su-35 shows that you can have grace AND power.
I totally agree and respect you for accepting this. Whilst certain American aircraft are also capable of similar manoeuvres, they lack the grace with which the Su-35 performs them
Aeronautically, USA has nothing even close.... but aeronautics don't win in the air anymore... its all about electronics and stealth and weapons carrying range/capacity... which is sad for people who love aeronautical performance... all they want today is stealth "trucks" with good radar and electronics jammers...
@@geoffreyleonard99 define your terms please re “engagement range” I’m guessing it’s about early detection and missile strike capabilities? Then I’m going to suggest that the “stealthy” are not so stealthy and that the range of air to air missiles would be the determining factor. A red versus blue was gamed and the conclusion was that “it was like clubbing baby seals”. Blue team were the baby seals and the JSF-35 “can’t turn, can’t climb, and can’t run” due to single engine and low power/weight ratio. No super cruise and no missile launch at supersonic. Russian radars pick them up early in Syria. JSF-35 has definite avionics issues as any quick search can verify. My country bought a dud to bail out LM? Airpower Australia did a full independent analysis and the results were damning. The F-22 would be the pick of the US aircraft and I don’t have much on the Su 57 except that it flies extremely well from my observations and would no doubt have long range air to air strike capability.

@@tinfoilchampion3651 No. According to Russian engineers: “While the canard layout brought advantages in terms of improved maneuverability, it also added structural weight to the airframe. A conventional airframe coupled with thrust vector control, the source said, could now provide the same capability.” Basically improvements to thrust-vectoring have achieved what canards were doing in the past and this has been reflected in the design of the Su-35 and Su-57 which instead of canards utilize leading-edge vortex controllers (LEVCONs). The Su-37 never entered production. The top Russian air-superiority supermanouverable fighter (if we exclude the Su-57 for now) is the Su-35. The aircraft with the closest resemblance with canards is the Su-30MKI which is a joint Russian-Indian product. Indian pilots on Su-30MKI have routinely been doing wargames against US pilots mainly of F-15E and have achieved victory in many of the dogfighting scenarios. The first such join exercise was 20 years ago back in 2004 during 'Cope India 04' where Indian Su-30MK (not the advanced MKI version) achieved impressive 9:1 kill ratio against U.S. F-15s. You do realize dogfights aren't how they look in the movies, right? Tight turns only matter if you get in close enough. And maneuvers that sharp bleed off huge amounts of energy. Even F-22 pilots know better than to stick around too long in the slow-speed zone where thrust vectoring provides most of the directional control. Because that kind of sharp, slow-speed turning may let you get in a shot, but you'd better pray you get it first try, because if not, you're a sitting duck... Now, whether or not the F-35 will or will not be a pig remains to be seen. But jets shouldn't be compared based solely on their top speeds and G-limiters. There's so much more going on. The reason everyone does so is because it's nice to have two numbers to point to and say "A is bigger than B! A wins!" Few things in life are this simple.
You talk at the level of an amateur, I'm sorry. The plane that you see is a multipurpose. All these pirouettes allow for minimal time to work more ground targets, the aircraft than any American would be more efficient and not as fast in the destruction of ground targets. It is not necessary to imagine yourself what it is for air combat. Do not think in terms of the 20th century.
Airshows never tell the real story. It maybe an impressive performance, but Sukhois in airshows carried very little fuel, and no weapons. Fully loaded, the poor Su-35 Thrust-to-weight ratio is only 0,94 -- even worse than F-16; its wing-loading is a whooping 500,8 kg/m2 -- worse than F-18F. And never talk about reliability and spare part issues for these Russian-made Sukhois!

One of the best wild beasts of sky from Sukhoi and the mighty Russia. Russian pilots are well known for their crazy flying skills of high levels! After Su30, this is another one thrust vector beast! King Cobra of the Sky!
This is the SU-35S, the latest variation with many upgrades including fly-by-wire controls. I just love jet aircraft period and don't care who makes them. We are all human beings and maybe one day well act like one. Far too much hate in the world not to enjoy what others bring to the table.
What an aircraft flown by what a pilot. I believe Russian pilots are encouraged to extract every ounce out of what their aircrafts are capable of. These guys fly like demons.
As an American, I have to admit that the SU-30 and SU-35 are the best in their class. The vector thrust capability that they have are lacking in our fighter aircraft, even the F-35 which is gonna bleed the taxpayer pale!! With the French Rafale for an interceptor, the SU-30 and Rafale combination will be unbeatable. Jackson, Mississippi.
American planes have thrust vectoring. 2-dimesional vectoring in the F-22, 3 dimensional in the F-15, F-16, F-18. US has also developed thrust vectoring for VTOL aircraft like F-35. So I wouldn't say Russians have better thrust vectoring technology. They may have been the first to implement it, but their technology hasn't developed a whole lot beyond basic PID control.

Usually the people that say Russian aircraft are garbage are trolls that have zero knowledge about aircraft.
They're not crap but they're old doctrine and the new doctrine is all about stealth and emission control and situational awareness. As far as pure flying machines they're spectacular.
America has built some amazing machines over the years but in the past 40 or so years its all been plan by politics and its never once worked. Our front line battle tanks (M1 ABRAMS) are from 1982 and are the single oldest tanks in full use today anywhere and these where CHRYSLER/Lee Iococca products like those K cars). The Russians have adapted to designs that are inexpensive, easy to maintain, and solid flyers. Most of them are simply beautiful machines the SU-35 perhaps the most so. USSR is gone. This is Russia now which is a small republic nation about the size of the Southeast US. They have to budget tightly and yet somehow are doing this and producing these things. If only we here in the US could learn..... Although just yesterday the Pentagon placed an actual order for 8 brand new f-15 eagles that have redesigned air frames, engines, electronics, and avionics packages. Upon successful testing and AIR CERTIFICATION there should be a much larger order coming to the navy. The airforce is working already with a group of redesigned f-16 falcons and an order of those is expected this summer after air certifications this spring. NOT ONE SINGLE yf-22 or f35 HAS EVER OBTAINED AN AIR CERTIFICATION. An f35 was cherry picked for testing to obtain the 8,000 hour mark but last summer it literally fell apart on a runway at around 1500 hours. Even f4 phantoms had that beat by miles. But that was when we were building beautiful machines.

deyvi69 Friend, even my own country has MIG 21 and 29 since my father was in the army. That is like 30 years ago. You compare 21's and 29's to modern fighters? When was the last time an american fighter fought against SU-35 variants or better? I think only the Grippen is a worthy opponent for this plane.
Nobody has gone against an SU-35 because the Russians only have about a dozen in service. They still rely on their old SU-27 as the bulk of their Air-Air fighter.
Besides, my previous comment was just a rant against all the Russian fan-boys who think that whatever Russia makes is automatically the best thing ever made. That's ridiculous. That is why I shared the history lesson, to prove that history has shown that when Russian equipment goes up against western equipment, they have a tendency to crash and burn. You see, you can't make a wonder fighter and then put a mediocre pilot at the controls and expect them to rule the skys. The West make wonder fighter pilots and puts them in capable machines. This has worked well for us in the past and I expect it will work in the future. If not, we will adapt.
