Update: Xiaomi has confirmed to us that it is working with Google to provide a feature inside the Google Home app that will allow the users to change and control the 16 million light LED ring at the top. An update should be coming in the upcoming weeks. Cheers! :D

Please confirm whether it has 12w or 10w sound drive. In another tear down video its clearly mentioned has 10w at back side of sound drive.

I do not listen to Bass heavy music, mostly acoustic, should I consider the Mi speaker? Already owning a 2nd Gen Mini. How does the sound quality/clarity compare with the Mini? Thanks!

If bass is not your priority then I would say stick with Nest Mini 2nd Gen. because overall clarity is almost the same on both and loudness as well. Ive personally heard both of them that's why I'm telling.

I intend to purchase it to use it as a Bluetooth Speaker only and not as a smart speaker. I don't have wifi connection. At most I have a JioFi device , which I can use to set it up initially. But you said it needs internet to enter into bluetooth pairing mode. Does it only need internet to pair a Bluetooth phone for the first time and then subsequently we can play music via Bluetooth on this speaker from the previously paired phone without internet? Or does it need to have internet everytime you need to play music via Bluetooth from a previously paired phone?

For initial setup you need wifi after that you should connect to bluetooth by Google home app , speaker settings. There will be a option like connections something go there and put the speaker in bluetooth discoverable mode . Then connect your phone via bluetooth Done from next time you can use it as bluetooth speaker without internet.

I'm pretty sure you can pair two of these in the Google Home app to work in stereo, unlike what's stated in this (otherwise good) video.

@@vBDKv I wonder if the sound quality becomes acceptable in stereo configuration? I bought one of these and I find the sound to be muddied with bass. If I EQ the bass down it just sounds dead. I guess you get what you pay for. At least it's acceptable for podcasts.

@@Yirgamalabar I think this speaker sounds absolutely incredible, for it's size of course. Perhaps it's the quality of the audio files you download or stream? RU-vid for instance sounds awful because they compress the sound A LOT. If you sign up for a music service, such as Spotify, and select the highest audio quality, this speaker sounds amazing to my ears.

@@vBDKv I'm using Spotify and my account is set to stream at Very High quality. I don't think it's the source, but the sound signature and lack of detail of this speaker.

@@Yirgamalabar Hmm that's odd. Perhaps you got a faulty speaker. Also note; I have the international version - The white one :) Perhaps they are different.
