The input for babies is limited in the amount of content and it is repetitive, which is why watching the same movie over and over again is a good way to study. I recommend a movie that has a lot of daily life scenarios...like "My Neighbour Totoro" which is a fantasy but full of daily life scenes. I've lived in Japan for 30 years. It took me 10 years to become fluent. Totoro was a big help.
Yeah i have never once watched shows for kids and i never would unless for whatever reason i found it really entertaining. Personally i would never do the repetitive movie watching thing just because it sounds incredibly boring on top of the fact that i would rather get tons of input from many sources than repetitive input from a single source. That repetition might be good to help words stick or pop out but i feel seeing the word in different contexts is probably better. Also, a movie might use a specific phrase very often when in reality its almost never used (like in 僕がいない町, they use the phrase したっけ as a sort of またね when in reality barely anyone says it) and so you might be wasting energy decoding a "useless" word/phrase. Thanks for your input non the less though!
@@tylerchapman4624 Again, it's through repetition of limited vocabulary that native speaker acquisition occurs. Scenes that depict everyday life are useful in developing a base from which to begin.
tyler chapman I’d gathered as much. The tip was for new learners who come across this thread. Like I said, I’ve been in Japan for 30 years and experienced first hand the struggles of learning the language. After two years I still couldn’t make out 90% of what people were saying. After a year of watching Totoro I could pick up a great deal. It works.
Kaka carrot cake the super sand lesbian Let’s say you watch a dense scientific education video in a new topic you’ve never explored before. You get most of it, but there are just those special words you don’t get. However, not understanding those words doesn’t spoil your ability to enjoy the program. That’s what it’s like, percentages are dumb.
I know im like a month late on saying this, but comprehension definetly ISNT as high as i say it is. I feel i simply just dont give a shit about not understanding everything anymore so i just let it go over it head. IIn reality i learn a lot of new shit every day
Lol ive never heard of him before but i really do. I would 100% go to Japanese high school assuming i had the funds or a means to acquire said funds myself. I was planning on going on some sort of college program, but ive since decided i dont even want to go to college. No clear plan for how im going to get to Japan at least temporarily but ill figure it out.
