We’ve been promising a Miami Dolphins mock draft with trades for a while now, and the timing of today’s mock NFL Draft couldn’t be better as we recently learned that the Dolphins have received calls from teams inquiring about their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft!
The Miami Dolphins are currently slated to select at No. 21 overall in the first round, but in today’s mock draft we’ve traded back and accumulated additional draft capital in an attempt to get a better idea about which NFL Draft prospects they may be able to land with the addition of more picks.
Dolphins draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft currently include a first (21), second (55), fifth (157), sixth (183 & 197) and seventh (241). However, the 2024 NFL Draft is relatively deep with numerous prospects that project as impact players already in year one, so the idea of trading out of the first round and acquiring additional draft capital could be a lucrative option for general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel.
2024 NFL Draft prospects considered for today’s Dolphins 7-Round Mock Draft include:
Jackson Powers-Johnson, OL, Oregon
Graham Barton, OL, Duke
Troy Fautanu, OL, Washington
Payton Wilson, LB, NC State
Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M
Christian Haynes, OL, UConn
Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina
Gabe Hall, DL, Baylor
Sundiata Anderson, Edge, Grambling St
Nathan Thomas, OL, Louisiana-Lafayette
Drake Nugent, OL, Michigan

Don't forget to give us, your Top 10 or Top 20 or Top 50 College Prospect, that may go Undrafted, that the Dolphins should try to sign when the draft is over. I think I mentioned it before, however, Clay Fields III, FS (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga), in an interview, said he was contacted by the Dolphins. Right now, he is not listen in most draft boards. His 2023 season was average with Chattanooga. His previous years, with Marist College, were, really good. He was like a "Kerby Joseph" type. Always around the ball, interception or making a fumble or getting a fumble. Plus, he either returns punts or kickoffs. He won a game with a special teams return for a TD, his Junior year with Marist College, I believe. I kinda wondered, had he stayed at Marist College, would his stock be alot higher. Or, if he choose to go to a more prominent school, his Senior year. He could be a good special teamer, or even backup safety, especially to groom with the Safeties we got.

Great info as always Ben! It would be great for us to trade back and still get one of our top players on our board. This is one of the deepest drafts in some time at some of the premier positions for our Dolphins. I agree though trading back to 44 to recoup a third and fourth is just going back too far.

Thanks man. For how much I like Fautanu & JPJ, trading back and still getting Haynes while adding another selection is also another option I’m cool with. Man I’m truly torn on some of these decisions this year, need the end of the month to get here asap!

No way do I allow Leggett to get past me at pick 55. I really don't see them picking a LB early. I also would have taken the Greenbay offer which would have given us 58 and 126. Breaks up the long wait to pick 158!
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 6 месяцев назад
That’s true. Legette is super intriguing to me as well. I’m not done with watching him, but hard not to like him with that speed/height combination. Hindsight I should have taken that deal and moved back a few spots. lol I was just more so concerned about getting a good deal for that first rounder, that I was satisfied with trading after that!

If the board broke that way in your Mock I concur with your first 2 picks in Haynes and Cooper but in the third round at 65 I would have taken either Fiske orJenkins at DT or I would have double dipped with Wilson at LB. That is very intriguing by getting arguably the 2 best LB’s in this years draft. Don’t forget Sheppard at CB from Maryland as a possible day three pick as well! Love doing Mock Drafts! Keep them coming!! 🐬👍

Landing Cooper and Wilson would be wild. We’d be looking real solid at LB for years to come! I want to like Fiske more, just wish his tape was more consistent with what we saw at the combine. Fins up!

@@FinsUpNetwork I have to agree with you there in regards to Fiske. They do think that he will be a better pro than college player and that his upside is huge
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 6 месяцев назад
@@chadhickes8563 very possible. If it were a weaker draft I’d be all about drafting his potential. Just so many guys in that Rd. 2/3 range where I think there may be safer options. But as you mentioned, if Fiske hits his ceiling, he’s a steal there
@Joeypots

You definitely take that 2nd, 3rd and 4th. All day. You get Haynes or Beebe at 44, Patrick Paul at 55, Roman Wilson or Ricky Pearsall in the 3rd. Next four picks you can still get Mason Smith/Wingo, Kamara, Stiggerz and a TE like McLachlan, RB Aidan Robbins and Devin Leary at QB. That’s a heck of a haul.
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 6 месяцев назад
Yea it's definitely intriguing. I personally think they're a bit scared to fall back too far because they're gonna try to get an immediate impact guy with their first pick in this draft, but if I could get that haul with the guarantee that Haynes will be available (which is obviously impossible to know) with their first pick, it'd be hard to turn it down. Hell, that's who I ended up with in this particular mock and I didn't even get what the Raiders offered
@johnjohnson8830
@johnjohnson8830 6 месяцев назад
Nice to hear that we'll have options if we want to trade back, but I agree that going that far back into the 2nd for our first pick in the draft is too far. I'd probably be okay with anything in the 30s. Would you have taken Worthy at 33 if he wouldn't have went 32?
@FinsUpNetwork

Woulda been an intriguing option, but I still likely woulda went OL. Brian Thomas woulda been hard to pass, but I’m a huge fan of Haynes!

haynes and beebe, then a dt, then late rd flyers at other positions. But right now interior O and D line should be the priority picks

Yep, hard to argue adding to the trenches. We gotta get more physical on both sides of the ball, so that's a great first step!
@jihyotwice3159

I wouldn't recommend trading out of the first round this year. We badly need impact players that can start immediately and become foundational of the future. We have had sparse picks lately in the early rounds and just lost two starters that we couldn't replace. Maybe next year we can trade out of the first round. Just look at Patriots, who implemented that strategy previously and how they have fared lately. It's better to trade away proven stars for picks rather than allowing them to walk away for compensation picks. Trading away first round picks is like swapping a chance to get super stars to get a chance to get replacement level starters. Sure, you get more picks but there is a reason why you have player analyst within your organization and why you have first round picks to select early.
@Dubskii001
@Dubskii001 6 месяцев назад
I think it’s a pretty fair offer from the raiders to be honest. Would suck that we wouldn’t get that immediate impact guy we’d probably have gotten in the first round but I think it’s worth it
@FinsUpNetwork

I woulda loved the added picks, but 44 is just a bit too far to drop, IMO. I’d probably be good with anything in the 30s, but I selfishly want an impact guy with our first pick this year!

If we trade down I would go D.L, O.L then safety. If we don't trade down I would go O.L, safety, D.L or best available. My wish is for a quality O.L and a safety. We lucked out on Holland. I feel we can do it again.
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 6 месяцев назад
I’ve sorta cooled on the safeties in this year’s class. There are a few I’m fine with, I just don’t personally have any that I’d currently consider a “target” of mine. But to be fair, I wasn’t pounding the table for Jevon Holland, and he’s turned out perfectly fine!

I feel strongly that, unless the fates falls otherwise, we will take a WR in 1 or 2. It's actually a more important need than many people think, imo. The "otherwise" is if we get a 3rd and/or 4th round pick on a trade.
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 6 месяцев назад
I don’t rule that out, could definitely see that happening. I even think WR remains in play in the draft if we sign OBJ. I’m gonna be diving into more WR prospects in a video as we get a bit closer to the draft as well. Fins up!

@@FinsUpNetwork It's just an opinion but if you look at the usage stats for Hill and Waddle they were on the field together on fewer than half of the offensive snaps. We need a legitimate threat at wr3 to stop teams simply scheming our biggest weapons out of the game, as well as to keep them fresher.
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 6 месяцев назад
@@dundeedolphin Yep, and I do believe that'll be a point of emphasis this offseason for McDaniel when it comes to the offensive side of the ball. Getting more physical up front so that we feel more confident running the ball in short-yardage situations, and then the emergence of another pass catcher not named Hill or Waddle need to be two of the bigger points of emphasis this offseason

Ben I agree trading all the way back to 44 is a bit to much for me.I would of went worthy or Legette with first pick. In the secondI would have went with edge. The third round pick would of went with Mahogany.On the third day its all about development guys. I like Krystian Boyd DT Evan Anderson NT and Erick Alli TE. In short, I think Mc Daniel will get his WR but im starting to think draft is gonna be heavy on defense.Phins Up.

Passing on multiple blue chip players to end up with Haynes would be a disappointing start. Cooper might be the best LB in this class but that doesn't mean anything. He's not a top LB prospect.
