About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Thank you for the live-stream dedicated to a look of two sides of Miami. Liberty city has its rough parts but it’s full of culture, art, and good food. Royal Castle is a great example of that great food, being a mom and pop shop and the pinnacles of the African American struggle for equality. Karla brought lunch there and they loved it, even Hudson wanted more. As they traveled around, they went to the legendary Senior Penia, who sells fruit from a little stall in front of his house to buy some fruit and tomatoes. Karla got two whole bags for $9 dollars. Then they went to “ The Pinan Bouk Bakery ” in Little Haiti to get two lofts of Pan creole for $2 each, which was just baked. Then they went to a park with a statue of Dusan Lubudare”. Then they went to the “Tropical ice cream Bakery” but they were sold out of ice cream . Then they went to design district, which is the tourist side of Miami. They parked and walked around the area, looking at the vintage cars that were parked and the museum, which has a great architectural design. Then they pass the Tesla dealership and several expensive boutique shops. Hudson continues to make friends everywhere he goes and he loved the violin music. The internet connection was pretty spotty there but passable. After their walk around, they sighed off. Thank you guys for sharing your time with us and giving another great live-stream. Thank you as well for the hard work, especially with the bad internet connection in certain parts. Stay safe cool and dry and enjoy the rest of your day.

Freddy thank you so much for watching and chatting with us and for the great summation of our livestream! We are so glad you enjoyed seeing the wonderful local flavor at some of the other neighborhoods of Miami which many tourists don’t get to visit. We love supporting small businesses like Royal Castle 👑 for their burgers and Piman Bouk Bakery with their amazing Pan Kreol 🥖 as they truly are gems! The popular Design District was such a contrast to the other areas we highlighted and continues to draw crowds which Hudson always loved as he gets to meet and make friends with everyone and get treats too. Thank you again for “walking along” with us.

I was surprised you took Hudson on that escalator. I remember one of the NYC store clerks (Lego store?) telling you horror stories about how dogs got their paws caught up in escalators and had to have their legs amputated in the store to free them.

We do remember the woman at Macy’s telling us about those awful accidents but we have never encountered any problem on an escalator with Hudson. We would never endanger him.
