Are you kidding? They just released the 4th one (last year), go watch that! *after watching it * Ohh God never mind, don't watch it, in fact, please lend me that neuralizer before you neuralize yourself so I can forget watching it.
I love this scene and the next one, it shows how he was outclassed by the other applicants but he was the only one actually thinking, the rest were just following orders.
I like how the guy was looking away trying to ignore him, then when he adds "with honors", he gives him a dirty look as if to say "Now, you went too far"
1) J was able to see that no one else knew why they were there, the reason K laughed. 2) J showed he was improvizational by bringing the table to himself while also showing how much he didn't give a damn what the others thought. 3)J showed he could think out side the box critically by shooting at the girl. also that he had wicked good vision. no one should be able to read the cover of a book under strobe lights.
A coworker and I always use this line when we want to give each other a pat on the back for a job well done. "You're the best of the best of the best... with honors!"
"Captain America over here...The best of the best of the best, Sir!....with honors!!.He's just really excited and has no clue why we're here...." LFMAO!! XD
Possibly the first test these other men had been in where doing things by the book isn't the way to win. Jay succeeded in adaptability because he had been doing things his own way for many years.
I wonder if that was the true purpose of the test? You have several chairs but no writing surface for the test books, except for one small table in the middle. Jay is the only one who notices it and pulls it over to his chair. I think it's in MIB's best interests to look for candidates who think outside the box. When you are an agency dealing with thousands of aliens walking the planet incognito, you will need someone who is constantly on their toes, who sees what others don't. Jay's ability to think outside the box comes in handy later when Kay and Zed frantically search through a list of ships that Edgar might use to escape Earth in. Jay notices the photograph of the ships that were repurposed as sculptures for the World's Fair, and asks them if they still work.
Amadeus no it was because Kay was there when Jays dad died as a little boy and he new Jay went back in time as an adult to save him so it was Planned for a Jay to always be picked by Kay
😂😂😂😂 Ya boy captain america over here....The best of the best of the best ✋Sir! ....✋With Honors!😂 He's just really excited and he has no clue why we're here😂😂😂
I think this is one reason why they picked him. the other guy had no clue why they were there. James asks , gets no answer, and points out that no one knows. he's the only one thinking. also in the next scene he was correct to shoot the 9 year old with physics books. Why would a 9 year old even read those types of books? clearly an alien pretending to be a little girl, trying to build a spaceship or something. the other aliens, the army people shot at them, but never wondered why were they there. James shows one is just exercising, one is sneezing, etc. they were legally allowed to be there, the little girl was hiding, not supposed to be there. why is a little white girl walking alone in the ghetto at night? she is up to no good. when he asked if he owed her an apology, MIB never said he did. because he was right on the money
Just started nursing school in a REALLY competitive program - 64 of us who've all been, "The best of the best of the best, Sir!" for the last however many years and now we're all in the same program. It's pretty intense. I must think of this scene every 2 or 3 days, and I smile every time. This is total genius!
Someone on Reddit said that this scene was their introduction to Captain America. They didn't even know he was a real character, they just thought it was a clever joke.
It was the perfect example of practicality really...so although I understand what you mean, he made a fine crossing of the blurry line between creativity and intelligence. I'm a bit more skeptic but some people believe creativity is the highest form of intelligence. :)
Creative people may not be the most intelligent but they are more imaginative and resourceful who can make use of anything or who ever around them and are capable of thinking outside of the box and are not always the first to react during particular situations. But I think the intelligence you are talking about is more between a close minded person and an open minded person, a close minded person is a person who goes by everything that is taught to them without ever questioning it to be right or wrong. A close minded person follows the code based on the laws of logic and physics and try to confirm anything beyond that as something not existence without ever considering other possibilities (and the sad part is these people make up for the majority of the world's population). Now an Open Person is someone who is taught all those same laws of logic but are also people who question it and believe it to be possibility due to them being able to think for themselves or maybe to them not everything has to make sense to work as sometimes they just happen, but they still question everything, even when taught the laws of logic and physics as these people are able to bend those rules a little bit and think beyond that. When you work for Men In Black you have to throw Earth's entire rule book of logic out the door and think above and beyond anything that is or ever was taught to you as you will be working with Alien's which are creatures or beings that are still in question of whether or not they exist and you also have to be humble enough as to not react every time you see them as they may not always percieve as a threat. (Sorry for writing so much I get carried away)
Yes I believe so. It was to see who would modifying their environment to achieve their goals; anyone one of them would do just fine one the exam but what they wanted to know is who would change their environment because their chairs and lack of table is not suitable to take a written test. Same thing at the firing range. They were not too interested in who can fire with the most precision, they wanted to see who could use abstract thinking to analyze a novel situation.
