Simple video can the OpenRun Pro manage teleconferences or do you still need the OpenComm? business: daniel.glaser.techchannel@gmail.com Buy OpenComm - amzn.to/3O3zpOo Buy OpenRun Pro - amzn.to/3PmWjkZ
This review was literally everything I needed, thank you so much. The slight difference (massive to my ear but I'm annoyingly picky) between the Openrun and Openrun Pro makes a HUGE difference to me for work! I wasn't going to spend the $40 on the upgrade ESPECIALLY with the drop to IP55 from IP67 but your review has completely changed my mind. Can't thank you enough.
I'm a truck driver and opencoms work like a charm, no problem with the mic. They recently lost sound on one ear bud and I warranty exchanged them at best buy. They only had the pros available and picked them up today. Once I go to work inside my rig will be the real mic test. Your video was very helpful and gave me hope, thanks!
@@neverenoughtech yessir! As of right now I'm very amazed on the sound improvement from the opencomms to these, they sound like I have a good quality ear bud on!
@@neverenoughtech so update: people could barely hear me on the other end 😪. I really liked the open run pros, but I returned them and exchanged them for the opencomms again. I'm happy and I really recommend the opencomms for anyone in a noisy environment.
I had never heard of "Bone Conduction" Technology headsets until moments before almost purchasing an over-ear headset to handle calls for work. I purchased the ( OpenCom ) and ... they have changed my LIFE ! No Sh-t ! The affect was just That dramatic ! I can keep them on my head all day and not even notice. I can get in my car, work out, go into a conference & even answer another phone by holding it to my ear and it still works great. PLUS, The ( OpenCom ) mic can fold out of the way if not needed. and can stay on my head all day long. Not to mention the Super fast charging & forever battery life.
I appreicate the very specific focus of this video, this is what i was looking for. Do you know if the Open Run Pro will work with the USB Dongle? new sub
The opencomm is eq’d a bit more for voice - less bass - opencomm is also a little looser and more well suited for longer use. All are fine for listening to voice - the aeropex is the only one not suited for recording voice
I have C102 model of OpenComm. It worked excellent but after 2 months people on other end started to complain about very quiet voice. I tested the voice quality at different conditions and it is looks like noise cancelation reducing voice level. And from time to time it happens in very quiet environments.
one more topic on Openrun pro in office use - when muted on MS Teams they constantly 'bip'. I don't see any settings to switch this off. Any ideas how to deal with it? Is it the same issue with Opencomm?
The mic elements themselves are just one factor. The mic preamps, DSP, housing, placement (as you mention), and A/D stage all play a role. It sounds like the Open Run Pros simply have higher headroom, either from the preamp, A/D or both, and maybe a little better DSP. I honestly think they sound a little better (more lows) than the Open Comm, or at least on par. A better test would be with lots of background noise, I'm guessing the OpenComm would excel there since the mic is dedicated and closer to the mouth.
I was surprised too. I made a bunch of recordings and the pros always separated themselves from the aeropex. So I trust there is a difference. The opencomms are looser and are more likely to provide something like all day comfort
@@neverenoughtech I wear my aeropex all day like some bonehead weirdo 😄 Love them except for the mic quality. One other question. Are the beeps quieter on the pros?
another one: if you are on a MS Teams call and you are interrupted by another MS Teams incoming call, your first call will be interrupted and I don't see the way go get back to it other than switching to PC inbuild mic and speaker. I tried to disconnect from the call and connect again - there was no audio anyway
next discovery: you can have 2 devices connected, and switch between calls (I don't know yet how they will behave when one call is interupted by another one on the second device), but when both are connected you can't listen to another media (like youtube). does it mean the drivers need some touch up?
Thanks bunches for your efforts to convey the mic and playback sound qualities. I believe the Pro and Com are the mic winners in the BC market. Particularly for noise cancelation. My own voice memos from the Pro and com were nicer than yours but it was reassuring to hear your samples follow the same trends. Even my Move sounds better then the Run/pex. My shokz are jealous of other headsets though and usually need to be re-paired after a "night out"
Hey thanks for the comparison. It is very surprising. The mic quality of the pro is much closer to the OpenComm than I anticipated. So would you say the pro is good enough for a quiet office use for zoom meetings and calls? OpenComm is the safe bet for office application, but hoping for a bit more verstaility. Also don't want a mic sticking out of my ear when I go for a walk with the headsets! 🙃🙃🙃
By all accounts it should work. I think it’s worth taking the risk and returning if it doesn’t work out. I’ve also been on the other end of those using the pros and they sound fine.
@@neverenoughtech Thanks I think I'm going to give it a go. I unfortunately live in a place where returns isn't a thing, and also just one-year warranty for Shokz products. So it's a one-way street for me. Have to say, I do miss the return policies from retailers back in Canada...
@@patrickshum8229 hi guys, i also considering to choose between opencomm and openrun pro. Once in a week I work on the coffee shop and doing all day call there, so I'd like to know if openrun pro is a good choice for me. I dont really like the mic sticking out as well, would love to have your suggestions in this
@@walesadanto8277 I got the OpenRun Pro for a few days and maybe can share a bit of initial thoughts. Pros: It's comfortable, and mic quality is good enough for the relatively quiet environment I use them for calls. The most interesting thing I found is that the mic is very directional. They've designed it so that only sound coming from the direction of your mouth is captured (while you have it on). Cons: Can use a bit more loudness for voice calls. Maybe it's just me, but I have to put volume up to 90~100% on my laptop for me to hear OK on Zoom and Skype, as opposed to 50~60% for my normal headsets. Music is louder for some reason.
Daniel, a few questions to Opencomm: 1) when used with zoom, do they switch off zoom's noise cancelation, like Jabra does? (both noise cancelation systems on can be a problem), 2) can it work with 2 devices simultaneously with easy switching between them when for instance you see an incoming call on your mobile? 3) which one would you recommend for two usecases: - office work with MS Teams calls, - conducting yoga online sessions via zoom? thanks
There is multipoint pairing so if you set that up switching is pretty seamless. I’ve used opencomm with teams for countless hours … never had a complaint on sound … same with zoom but I can’t speak to the double noise cancelling at the moment. The opencomms are a lot more comfortable but looser. I want to say opencomm for your cases assuming you aren’t going upside down
@@neverenoughtech this is an important insight - I tried on Openruns in a nearby shop an they felt a bit tight for a few hours confcall scenario. Though for yoga I do so called downward dog, or simple bend forward all the way down, when the head is partially upside down. It is still enough for airpods (the basic model) to stay inside the ears. Also Openrun mic sounds decent when recorded to mobile phone voice recorder but I could hear all background noises.
newbie question can i use bluetooth mic simultaneously with the shokz so that i can get the best of voice input while still hearing from the bone conduction earphone
Do you have opencomm2 vs openfit? I've to attend zoom meetings daily, but I don't like a boom mic stuck on my face. If openfit microphone is good, I’d go for it.
Not a direct comparison but I tested the mic in this video NEW soundcore AeroFit Pro wireless open👂buds! Better than the OWS 2 and OpenFit? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g_R-FF_DYWc.html
I'm testing Openrun pro (the dealer couldn't give me opencomms for testing). I can't pair them with 2 devices (mobile, PC) via bluetooth. I need to disconnect mobile in order to connect PC. This is ruining my office use case. Any hints here? .... - and now it works. It is a bit unstable when it comes to PC connection... I have them till Saturday so I'll share more insights.
You have to enable bluetooth multipoint, its in the manual. The button presses are "Press and hold the multifunction button and Volume + button until Audrey say "multipoint enabled." but you have to connect the second device in a specific way, the manual explains it well tho. At least for the openmove, but I think controls are similar for all models
How about opencomm2 ??? is it a big difference? Found your newer video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5btlSuy_z94.html Opencomm2 review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Ii6EWvBVHA.html
Is there a any system to manage microphone for shokz device . I mean i wanna reduce ( stop) around sound whn i am calling . Because so noises around my place and i wanna only forcing my voice only for my call reciver ❤❤❤
All noise cancelation would come from the noise canceling mic on the boom arm and then any potential additional noise cancelling from the teleconferencing service
I think you can run and bike … it’s pretty steady. You can also move the mic away from the mouth to make it less intrusive during exercise. Feels a lot less likely to fall off than buds
Audio for open on is more tuned for voice. The pros aim for a fuller sound - less emphasis on voice - though it would be a stretch to call any bc set’s sound full.
I think I see a DG08 heasdset in your collection. I have the DG06 and prefer it's sound (and a few others :) to the Shokz Run/Pro. How is the 08?@@neverenoughtech
Here in 2023. Anyone have some good words to help me out - def need better voice sound rather than music listening. Is this review still standing up?!? Thank you!
Since this review the OpenComm2 UC has been released. I found that it benefits your voice quality but does not dramatically change audio quality. For best audio quality you will want traditional headphones. If you want what I consider the best bone conduction set - sound and comfort wise your best bet is the opencomm2 UC
For daily use, Opencomm's microphone is a bit redundant. I have been using Openrun Pro before, and it is already good for running. Later, I switched to Wissonly Hi Runner because it has more usage scenarios, such as swimming, boating, surfing, running, cycling, hiking, and it can all be used.
I own both and I think the Sound quality on the OpenComm is much better 😢. I often listen to music when I’m not using it as a mic and the music quality on the Open Run Pro is sad.
Yeah, the sound quality in the Pro's are pretty bad for music. I wanted to upgrade my Aeropex, but ended up returning them. The sound quality on my Aeropex sounded better.
The Greatest Technology & Products EVER ! Has changed my Life. I know this sounds Ridiculous but in my Profession I Require Spontaneous & Very High-Quality ( 2 Way ) Communication. ALSO ... due to the mobile spontaneous nature of my constant In & OUT going phone calls. I CANNOT be constatnly taking my headset ... ON & OFF & ON & OFF. Oh & then ... ON Again & AGAIN ! There are many Huge advantages of these Bone-Whatever Tech. but for me ... THE fact that I can put them on at the beginning of the day & Keep them on ALL DAY is Beyond HUGE ! and something that I literally never thought would ever be possible. Right ? I have used headsets for-EVER and I would Literally have to take them On & OFF ( 100x's ) -per- Day. NOT NO MO !
@@neverenoughtech Absolutely ! But there are a combination of other things that make my ability to wear them all day possible. - Nothing plug'in my ears so when they are not in use im not forced to remove them & there is no sweaty things IN or ON my ears. - Exceptionally Great for the Car - I Also have a Work phone & Persoanl phone & they can handle both at the same time. Though I do wish the system was a bit less glitchy sometimes transferring between the two. - They are very lightweight & the battery lasts all day. & even if I do need to charge them ,,, the quick charger makes it Fast. - Plus, I use them for Entertainment like listening to video's & TV etc. The only negative is that they certainly aren't the best for Music. At least ... not my type of Music. But I have other headphones for that. I am just Super happy I literally stumbled across these because I was literally shopping for another headset and had decided on a dual Over-ear big Monster headset mainly for phone calls but then a friend told me about these and BAMM !~
