Michael Anthony is the real winner of the Van Halen story-he walked away with his millions, family, the same wife he had since college, and his great life and homes. Acted like a gentleman and true professional. He never slinged mud at the others or bad-mouthed anyone. A class act.

In 1995 my son went to a new Middle school in Glendora. He didn’t know anyone, but loved playing guitar. So, of course he did his science project on Guitar strings...the judge gave him an A...it was Michael Anthony. For high school prom night, Michael invited his daughter’s friends to takes pics by his pool. He pulled my son aside and showed him his guitar collection. Michael is a gracious guy, and we hope he keeps on playing bass for many years to come!
Michael’s daughter and my son became close friends all through school. Michael was super involved..he and his wife were at every back to school night and events happening in the community.

I'm glad that MA managed his money and lives so well! I'm sure that I'm not the only person to notice that (outside of the Van Halens) nobody has a negative thing to say about Michael Anthony...not as a musician and not as a *person.*

@ThumperOne It doesn't matter what the name of the group is, that doesn't make him less of a bass player, Eddie also said that Michael Anthony didn't know how to play, that he had to tell him what to play, which is a big fucking lie, if he sucked, he wouldn't be playing in Chickenfoot with Satriani. The only reason he got kicked out of Van Halen is because Eddie is an ASSHOLE. He just wanted his son to play with him, which by the way, sucks, and can't even hear shit he "plays"
@ThumperOne Listen to Rick Beato's breakdown of 2 VH songs and you might get why MA is successful. He can play when he needs to and he understands what a song needs to make it work. Also, Mikey did start his own band before he joined VH. They weren't successful but neither were Eddie and Alex until Roth and Mikey joined. BTW, I can hear Mikey's bass on the first 5 albums clearly, 1984 -not as much and FUCK has a great bass sound. Would he be a nobody without finding ? that's pure speculation. He is successful and is still playing with top-flight musicians so your opinions are just that.
@ThumperOne Stories about Eddie being an asshole are _not_ only from those kicked out of VH. He's well known for being a really challenging person to be around and this is well documented all over the place. That being said, there are always two sides to every story, it's likely the case in this one too.
It's interesting that Michael Anthony makes everyone that he plays with sound distinctly like van Halen, but EVH's playing sounds so generic , it could be any one of a million 19 year olds who can play better than he does these days.
I stayed at the same hotel when VH was in town in 1998. Me and my buddy were outside at the bar and I spotted Mike. He was catching some rays and reading a book. When he was done and getting up to leave, we walked over and said hi. He posed for pics and was as nice as you could hope for, it was great. We go back to the bar and he walks over and asks if we minded if he joined us. I was like, are you kidding? He chilled with us for at least an hour and we all had a blast. We went to the show that evening and he saw us and came over to us and said it was good to see us again. I’ve met quite a few of my musical hero’s, but none as nice and cool as him. He’s the real deal. 👍🏻
Finally a celebrity's house that actually looks like a HOME, and not some sterile, cold, stark all white structure that has no warmth nor character that you very often see with other rich people's homes. This is very tasteful and cozy, yet still has a sense of understated grandeur to it as well. It suits his personality to the 'T'.
Mike and Sammy are the coolest rockers ever. Ever. Ever. Nice and human. No fake, just real people loving life. Both are not only good musicians they are also good humans.
I am happy for him - he deserves every dime. A great guy - also very talented. He is successful in an impossible business - good for him. I met and played guitar with him at SOR very kind and generous man.
I think Mike is one of the nicest guys in rock. He once gave me a shot of Jack Daniels from the stage once at a Chickenfoot show back in 09. How cool is that? Him and Sammy both are extremely cool.
On the 2004 tour we had standing "seats" in the golden circle on Mike's side of the stage. He gave his red solo cup with jack to my wife standing at the edge of the stage. What a show at the San Jose Arena.
I was once at a KISS show in 2009 also. Gene and Paul actually picked my pocket from the stage and stole my girlfriend as well. Those guys are extremely bogus.
Mike is one of the most down to earth rockers, this country has ever seen. I'm so happy to see him enjoy all the fruits, of all his hard work. And those high notes, Van Halen wouldn't have been Van Halen, without him.
I just watched Michael play JUMP from way back when...he is my favorite bass player of all time. I am glad he got the rewards. All too many stars pissed their earnings away. I am glad he has something to show for it. Thumbs up for you Michael!
I met Michael and his wife in the late 90's at a car show. I was on duty as a paramedic. They were both so down to earth. Happy to stop and have a conversation. Michael even offered to buy me a beer! Had I not been working I would have taken him up on it!

Met Mike twice over the years and he truly is one of the nicest people I've ever encountered. One time he was eating and I waited till he finished and got ready to leave for me to approach him. He told me he noticed that and thanked me over and over again, for not interrupting his dinner party, like "so many A-holes do." He was even more excited when he asked if I wanted anything signed and told him that's not why I approached him. I just wanted to meet one of my favorite rockers and thank him for all he contributed with VH and music in general. He actually gave me a hug, LOLOL. Very nice guy. That all took place at Tavern on the Green in NYC. 1982. VH was in town on the Diver Down tour, which was one of the best tours I've ever seen. Hide Your Sheep!
A true class act with no spots on his reputation and in my opinion a very big part of Van Halen with his Vocals and of course incredible bass playing . Im hoping that he and Eddie had a chance to talk to each other before EVH passed away R.I.P. Eddie 😥
Genuinely a stand up guy. Very personable. Met him Hawaii on the beach. I did not bug him or ask for an autograph. He came u to me and my wife and ask us if we wanted to literally hang out. We did for a coule of hours. Was not star struck, which I am suprised. It was like a memer of your family. Said goodbye after a while and went back home.
Love this. Mike didn't need nor want any BS. Just kept reminding himself how blessed he was, and that he had a beautiful wife and home to come back down to earth to when he got off tour. Beautiful. Well done M. A.!

Their home is gorgeous and inviting. The landscape is beautiful. None of it is over the top like some huge sprawling museum looking thing. It reflects Micheals' down to earth personality.

His house and the yard and the landscape is far beautiful than everybody else's...that's a very nice litte water park and that slide is amazing ! This guy is so blessed, lucky and smart for investing his fortune with that kind of property. You well deserve it, Sir Anthony.

I have twin and we couldn't stand up during one of your solos in New Haven CT, yup that's was us that kept falling down in front of you. We thought you were collapsing the colosseum!!!!!!
And it all started with playing the trumpet in band...Bought the BBQ sauce a few times, had a bottle arrive cracked open and broken, was sent a new one no charge, always knew Mr Anthony was a class act, as I said before , either you are or you arent , He is.. its that simple.
Michael and his wife seem so down to earth, regular folks as does Sammy - none of the huge ego problems I.e., Diamond Dave & Eddie. After seeing VH with Diamond Dave & Wolfie this summer - I appreciate Van Hagar lineup that much more.

Ill say this : i always wondered why bass tracks on VH sounded.....different ,off, weird ( for better lack of terms ).....found out Ed and Al had songs written and recorded already.....then Mike was asked to add bass parts after the fact.....(!?!?) Thats like building an entire structure , THEN adding the foundation , after the fact...i cant imagine doing 1 song like that , let alone ALL OF THEM.....hats off to you sir for pulling this off time and time again.....

Lovely. & Mike earned it too 🙂😊......All those years & decades touring the planet on world tours which were really hard work & tiring when you think they were playing sets every day that went on for most of the year, every year.

Some people I don’t begrudge their lifestyle. This is a guy that’s maintained a career over 40 years. He broke into the business when you paid your dues in clubs and touring nonstop around the country & world. You put up with Managers & Agents & Bandmates. Good for him. That’s a beautiful tasteful home. Not gaudy or ostentatious like some people have. Very Nice. Good For Him. No RU-vid. No American Idol or America’s Got Talent. It was Hard Work, Talent, Luck, and Tenacity that got guys like him where they are. My only regret is I never followed a dream or stuck with anything. Good for you Mike.
You guys who are down on Mike must realize that Eddie couldn't do it by himself, he needed HELP! That means the right complimentary artists to bring the music to life. Dave had the charisma, brother Al had the catchy rhythms and Michael played a thunderous bass and was the best backup singer in the business. He was VITAL to the VH sound. He played like a maniac in the live shows and earned his keep. Wolf pales by comparison.
