He lost all his brothers, killed one of them himself, lost his father, his sister, wife and children left him, his daughter died in his own arms, his wife was killed infront of him, he was forced in the crime life, became a monster, regretted it in his entire old age and died all alone. The most tragic story of all time, suffered more than anyone. The greatest movie, saga and performance of all time.
So true, I love Michael and I love and deeply admire Al Pacino, Michael reminds me of myself in so many ways, I see so much of myself in him and understand him and the story is a just a masterpiece, I’m half Greek and Michael Corleone is very much like a character from Ancient Greek theatre
Don Corleone was a "family" man because of what he went through to have his own. Nothing came easy. So his values in the family were important to him. Santino took advantage of his status and Fredo was in "not equipped" to be anything but Fredo. Michael tried to be like his father but the business kept pulling him back and not enough time to spend with his family. Unfortunately, Kate, not being Sicilian could not grasp Michael's position and wouldn't try to understand the Italian way of life. This, of course, was her downfall in what Michael eventually had to re-evaluate and let her go.
I think death of fredo was most painful thing I watched. The way he hugs Michael and Michael kills him. I think that lousy bastard Michael deserved to die like that.
The way they compare the death of Michael and his father makes us (or at least I) feel sad for him. One is born with nothing, but dies with everything. The other person is born with everything and goes away with nothing.
"...I've never wanted this for you... but when it was your time, that you would be the one who hold the string. Senator Corleone, governor Corleone or something... well, the was enough time, Micheal..." Vito didn't want him to take over the business. He knew that path is full of miseries (even though he knew Micheal was capable) It's sad too see Micheal had to carried it
oh my God the ending dialogue "I never want this for you", as if Vito Corleone knew what Michael's life going to be, who ever edited this it's amazing.
The Don was born the minute he lighted that cigarette for Enzo the Baker, and realized he wasn't shaking his hand. That's when he knew what he was capable of doing to protect his Father. He felt if he did not get involved, his father was a dead man. THATS what drove him to be not just a war hero but a Tragic Hero even if it meant sacrificing his soul to do it. What a Greek tragedy!
I love this movie & have watched it so many times, don’t know how many & have always wondered why Michael looked so long at the cigarette lighter, now I know he was looking at his hand!!!
It's sort of weird how at first glance I never thought of Michael's story as being a tragedy. It seemed like you were watching the story of a man slowly losing his humanity step by step...becoming almost a monster compared to how he was first introduced. The kind hearted man who wanted nothing to do with his family's business had soon become capable of calling hits on enemies, having his own brother killed, striking his wife...etc. And by the time he'd gotten out of the business, he'd already sacrificed so much. But looking back, that is the tragedy. Michael was the best of a bad situation, Sonny died, Tom was family but not blood and Fredo wasn't Don material. Michael took on the role to protect his family, only by the end he'd lost the family he'd fought so hard to protect. It's depressingly sad that Vito never wanted this for him...Michael hadn't wanted it either, but decided he had to...because in the end he dies alone. It's sad and quiet, and his family is not with him. This tribute is beautiful, and all the parallels to through years are beautifully sad. Sorry long post, this just made me think back 😭😭
Al Pacino in the role of "Michael Corleone" did the best acting ever seen ... and the soundtrack you used from the movie "interstellar" makes this video more brilliant
Godfather part 1 and 2 are two of my favorite films.. but i must say Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1 and 2 are better, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui did better than my man Al Pacino
i am not a racist nor a nationalist ... but that thing is latterly a "Scum" when comparing it to Godfather and Alpacino in Godfather Saga .. i know it's your "opnion" but you can't compare the two man ... there is so much difference in aspect of every thing .... that Indian movie may be good for some people who live in some part of the world .. maybe they don't understand english or they like that Indian life style and their faces ... for me i never get thrilled in any indian movie ... because my mind can't compile story and give me thrilling ...
LOLL. what indian movies have you even seen? clearly you've seen terrible ones and you're judging indian films based on your awful selection. I'm a white american, have many friends worldwide and they will all tell you Bollywood is very loved in their countries, from europe to southeast asia. It looks like you know nothing about India, it's one of the most popular markets for American films and they have the biggest number of English speakers in the world. and full of cosmopolitan and modern cities. Millions of people worldwide love Bollywood films, if you're not aware of that then that's just sad. Even american critics have called Gangs of Wasseypur one of the greatest Gangster films ever made, and Bollywood stars like SRK, Aamir and Salman are much more loved worldwide than hollywood actors are. i've been to the UAE, morocco, and europe for extended stays and they have visited coincidentally during my time there.. and oh my God what happens there when SRK and Salman visit IS INSANE. I was in Spain when the IIFA was there last year and there was a huge crowd of people waiting for Salman outside his hotel and dozens of young men were doing the Dabangg belt dance (LOL). On SRK's birthday countless fans fly to Mumbai from around the world from Austria to China to stand in crowds outside his house and sing to him, it's amazing really. At every bar or hotel that I see an Indian in foreign countries, he is asked immediately about Salman, Aamir, Shah Rukh or Amitabh Bachchan, or actresses like Aishwarya Rai. I would say that Hollywood promotes heavily around the world and globalization of Western culture has taken over many countries but Bollywood stars have much more star power and fan loyalty worldwide than any hollywood actor. Even my friends in Russia and many people they know over there love the Khans and also Hrithik Roshan, the examples can go on forever you're CLEARLY out of the loop. expand your closed and small-minded perception, it'll do you a lot of good.
All over Europe from Spain to Eastern countries like Poland you will see Bollywood stars on billboards and posters in cities. When SRK visited Austria, huge crowds gathered around his car. When Salman Khan visited Berlin in Germany, he was mobbed by huge crowds outside his hotel, the same hotel that the Resident Evil movie cast was staying at, and nobody paid any attention to the Resident Evil actors. Aamir Khan's film PK made over $20 Million in China ALONE, and even in countries like Turkey and many African countries are all about Bollywood. What kind of messed up world view do you have? LOLL
and by the way I've been to many Indian cities and suburbs... they speak perfect English and a lot of them have accents similar to the British and Europeans. and im not trying to be mean, but most of them speak much better English than you do, and if someone in urban India spoke English at the level you speak in your comment (it's bad) they will surely make fun of the guy. so watch your ignorance before you talk nonsense
@@qasimimtiaz114 You can emphasize with him, especially in part 1 when he got dragged into the life to protect his family. In second part where power just corrupted him completely and his regret in the 3rd part, he truly is the most empathetic character ever.
@@qasimimtiaz114 his true love died in front of him,was force to lead the family/mafia life that his father never wanted that life to him, killing his own brother that truly loves him but eaten within his own greed, his daughter dead in front of him, cant protect the family, and die alone with nothing
hey the same here.... i used to love Scarface, but then I was like- hey this guy did something called Godfather, i saw a bit of it once and it was sort of boring to me...few years later ....here I am...being totally in love with this man and his movies :D
You know I always heard people say that if you watch movies, great movies, that is. Again and Again then you discover something new every time. That has only happened with me when I watch The Godfather. It is a brutal film, working on so many levels. The film is actually about how time destroyed Michael Corleone.
...I read the Book about 20 times! ...Nothing beats a book!!... A movie can't tell everything that's in a book. The COURAGE/MORALS of a Nino Valenti to refuse the "SUCCESSES/GLORY" of the Hollywood Lifestlyes of Johnny Fontaine(Frank Sinatra), is indicative of the Bible's tenet of "Not to loose your soul in order to gain the World"!! There are a lot more great stories in the book the movie CAN'T bring out. The Movie is still Great though. ...
All of us who have had a very struggled life and have experienced the reality and horrors of this world at a very early age would breakdown and cry alone watching this clip. It's terrifying to see yourself relate to a fictional character because this is as real as it could get.
He lost everything he tried to maintain. The irony of it. This story is fucking brilliant. The dilema of living a just and virtuous life or preserving your family. I'm in awe.
No. He had a lot of life after Apollonia. He got his humanity back in the final movie and loved his daughter and family. He was also hoping to live the rest of his life differently & pursue happiness. He was never gone until Mary died and only after that he was truly gone and lost everyone. He was also involved in charity work to an extent & honestly wanted to redeem himself. Maybe you should finish watching the movies. Michael’s story is bigger that that car bomb in Sicily. It hardened him but wasn’t the end of him like many project.
I think it was after his father had the first attempt on his life after that it made him more cold hearted amd made him want to get back for that . Appolonia was the main one though forsure
Excellent title. Because that's exactly what Michael is. He sacrificed everything he wanted for his own life and became a cold blooded killer in order to take care of his family's business, since Fredo and Sonny were too weak, each one in their own way. He didn't choose it, it was simply his tragic fate.
No matter how hearty, good-willed or down-to-earth people we are - everybody can become a monstrous shade of themselves if the circumstances push it to that.
@@afras5526 he did? The whole time? Did he have a gun to his face when he decided to kill all of his family? Nope. He had a bad situation but he could have avoided turning into a monster, it was not out or control
yeah he did start becoming more and more like him in his thinking then steered the wrong way and went against the family, against what vito valued the most, that's where he differs.
This story is so tragic that really breaks my heart. Seeing Michael´s evolution from this happy young man who just wants a simple life, to this ruthless, coldhearted bussines man who ends up loosing everything, doing what he considers is best for his family. So tragic. My dear Michael 🖤
This movie is the only movie i wached that bring me tears on face at end. It s just sad to see how the story started in 1901 and that it end in the same way 70+ years later. Vito never regret any action he done in his life, I mean i never saw Godfather to be sad because he saw how he's brother and mother die at only 8 years old. On the other way, Michael always regret some of his action in the past, like Fredo's murder, but his life was also harder. Don Vito wasn't betrayed by any of his friends, I mean Michael could hide under the hand of Don Tomassino allmost 30 years after his dad meet him in 1920's, and Michael was betrayed by Tessio right after the dead of Don Vito. Michael was betrayed by his own brother, was hated by his wife and sister, and he survived 3 assasinations on the course of his life. The only one's who was loyal to Mike were Tom and Al Neri, so this is why i found this trilogy heartbroken, because Mike was so unlucky in his life, he loved 3 womans, 2 of them died and the 3rd hated him half of her life, and Don Vito stayed with the loved one's until his death, not like Michael who was born with everything but because of his destiny he died alone
wasn't vito's mother alive when he came back to italy with his wife and childrens!? i remember the scene when she got shot while vito runs away but maybe she stayed alive, at least that's what i understood from the movie, it was his father and brother who has been killed when he was young
@@disneychic2337I think that was Carmella’s mother and maybe Tommasino’s parents were at lunch in Sicily in the 20s. I remember Vito said to Fredo; “Give this to grandma.”
There are so many aspects of The Godfather that are overlooked. The main one for me was the death of Apollonia, if she survived Michael would probably be much more like his father and less callous and cold throughout his remaining life.
Whoever made the editing during the Scream scene is a genius. He captured everything that the Scream represented, the tragedy of his live: everything he once loved was lost forever.
Imagine them crossing paths in hell...sitting at a diner a telling of their fall from Grace both doing the right things for the wrong reasons and doing the wrong things for the right reason.
The best actor in Hollywood in my humble view. Every act, gesture and dialogue of his in this movie, The God Father,is a reflection of his passion for doing the only thing that he knows, the acting.
Micheal's the embodiment of greatness, but I have to disagree, he murdered his family after all. "“a man who doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man.” - vito corleone.
Michael, a real tragic hero. Whoever spent time and time to see the trilogy can able to understand that MC spent all his life, for one reason. To PROTECT the family. Even the decision of killing his own brother was for the family.Freddo has a good heart but naive and dangerous for the life of the whole family. Vito “never want this life” for his youngest son Mike, but remember that also Mike didn’t want that kind of life. (Think that MC was a rich young boy ,had everything but left college to join the army, just to leave behind the family) The circumstances make him to do all things that finally did. For sure was an ambitious man but at the end of the day every move he makes was for one reason, to protect the family as he did once with his father.
Kay was his dear friend school and college times certainly she was not able to understand the psychology of Michael whereas apollonia was love at first sight , less time but enduring connection she embraced him without any " If " and "but" ♥️♥️♥️this is true Love, he lost his luck by losing HER .😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Funny how so few people realize the Michael character is a villain. AFI even named him as one of the greatest villains in cinema and people still think he's a tragic hero. 😅
He was not good also not bad. He was beyond good and beyond bad. He was not weak. He choose to be strong and did lots of sacrifices. He ruled the world with his balls and mindset. Of course he was a hero. I do not consider a man hero if he is afraid to carry evil in himself. RIP Micheal Carleone.
The whole trilogy is the saga of a modern Hamlet wherein an optimistic youth becomes the victim of a revenge game. Literally he didn't have any choice and he is destined to surrender the circumstances. His downfall is worsen by the presence of Kay in whose eyes he always finds his lost-would be possible better self. However, he is a hero because he fights with all his possible courage!
I disagree. Puzo would disagree, too. He said that Kay is the only character worthy of respect.Puzo said that every story has to have " good guy". That person is Kay. In a book when she came into his life she begins to change him for the better,.. the very same night they reunited. Two years into marriage with her he didn't want to be his father's son. Three years into marriage he didn't want to be Don. At the end of the book he was calling her his Don. " You are my Don". In a movie it was when she left that he stopped....she bitch slapped him into sanity.
Michael was a man but he was a man of honor and nobility and those type of men have no place in a business that handles blood work. Michael was a man but he was no killer,he didnt have it in him.
I don't think I have left a comment yet which is strange since I have watched this video many times. I saw a review that described The Godfather II as one of the saddest movies ever made as it is about loneliness and loss and impending doom which is why I see Michael's story as pure tragedy. I get that exactly same feeling watching this video and music was so perfect as it evokes everything I said above and the pace of the clips and audio were perfect. I always watch this when I want to feel sad about Michael Corleone which is often as the progression and portrayal of his story is still incredibly powerful and moving to me.
Captain McKullskey and the Turk disliked this. They drove Michael to the dark side. Michael truly died when the crooked cop busted his jaw; the Godfather was concieved that day.
Wrong. Michael was always a cold blooded killer (According to the books, he fought in the Pacific). Michael 'died' when Apollonia was killed. That's the day he decided that this isn't business. It's personal
John Franks I disagree.....The Don was born the minute he lighted that cigarette for Enzo the Baker, and realized he wasn't shaking his hand. That's when he knew what he was capable of doing to protect his Father. He felt if he did not get involved, his father was a dead man. THATS what drove him to be not just a war hero but a Tragic Hero!
The Godfather is a masterpiece of the cinema in the last few years. All the script based on the book of Mario Pusso is a amazing history of the Italian mafia. And Franco Zenfirely made an excellent film.
O kadar mükemmel bir edit olmuş ki... Videonun sonunda RanaEdits yazısı görmek beni çok mutlu etti. Bir Türk'ten bu kadar kaliteli bir iş çıkmış olması harika hissettirdi.
God this video teared me up... Micheal was truly a tragic lonely hero. And the level of brilliance in Al's performance? No one will ever reach that,he's simply the best
Fuck it was hard not to cry watching this... Especially when Mary dies in front of him and start the flashbacks of dancing... Such wonderful piece of art.
After the death of his first wife you can see the hurt in Michaels face....that's what cause him to become heartless. We barley saw Michael smile thru the second film until the third. Great acting!
I watch this movie from 1 to 3 over 100 times and every time when i see al pacino is getting old i just think "no one cannot be like that " anymore.. 😞
Me too I loved it when they did it for tv and started at the beginning and also included scenes that were not in any of the movies because they had been edited out.
I don’t give a damn who you are. If this video doesn’t in some way shape or form hit you right in the heart then your soulless as fuck. Honestly I feel for Michael Corleone. Tragic is doin this no justice. Honestly the way his life played out like that completely unfair to him. PERIOD

Sen öyle bir kralsın ki adamlığını anlatmaya kelimeler yetmez ne Müslüm baba ne Demba Ba tek baba sensin sen
Michael is very composed. Yet not cold. Quite the contrary. He delivers his duties, yet it makes him suffer. He is far more sensitive than Don Vito was - who killed without remorse. Don Vito's easiness, which many naively mistake for warmth, is based on his lack of moral doubts.
Sometimes I feel like Michael.. Sometimes I do bad things, but I do it to help out my family. Because they come first. Even though Sometimes I feel taken advantage of. I still do what I can for my family because family comes first..
