Finley was the man! I am glad that he ended up with my Spurs and winning a NBA championship. Him and Dirk were the reason The Mavericks became relevant in the late 90’s, and Don Nelson too.
I always liked Finley's game. In his prime he was an athletic finisher, reliable shooter, and solid defender. No real flaws. Once the Nash-Dirk tandem got going, he unselfishly moved into more of a supporting role, and that extended his career by almost another decade as a smart veteran. Just a really complete basketball player.
Somehow David Robinson (and Ewing) is in too many posters, not only by Finley... I think he wasn't as good rim protector as let's say Shaq, Hakeem, Zo...

@@elishareilly7980 Imo as for Ewing, his injuries at a certain stage in his career made him a slow responsive, rather easy target for daring athletic guys who cut and slammed. During his college years he was another beast, i think.. I believe regarding Robinson, he didn't focus on D so much.
Centers back then were not worried of getting posterized. In fact, they find it embarrassing if they dont challenge the dunk and just stand down or take a charge. They accepted the job of being a rim protector.
This ability to only do ☝️ type of dunk was so odd with maybe two or three variations. *Repeatedly doing this one dunk on that opponent’s never seem to clue into 🤨.* #2 The one leg tomahawk was actually strategically, tactically and fundamentally more impressive contrasted with lackadaisical defensive strategy, defender not fighting over screens, non existent moving screens, bigs with overly impressive vertical leaps or frames that would stop the most athletic wings mid flight seemingly forgetting these attributes intent on maintaining verticality, resulting in flamboyant finishes. At least the theatrics were disguised a bit better back in those days!!!!
