Kanye's opinions and statements are quite complicated, i personally don't find him a very smart man, because he judges and gives opinions about people who don't really have to do anything with him. The fact that man still tries to run for president proves his mental state. I just hope we haven't come in a time where people will do anything for attention and their name. I was not impressed and neither were a lot of people. Michael wasn’t the first to speak out. Many, many people including Sam Cooke spoke out decades before Michael. EvenPrince spoke out before Michael. Michael waited many years in the comfort of his success before he spoke up. That’s not impressive. It's complicated. One thing is that MJ wasted a ton of money(30 million) just on the production of the album, advertising would need a ton more too, and it just came out mediocre in Sonys eyes. Furthermore he refused to tour or do any other thing which could boost the sales. Another thing is that MJ said he was going to leave Sony after that and who wants to advertise an artist if they're gonna leave after anyway? All in all very complicated and the fight between Sony and Michael, and Michaels expensive production really hurt the album.

Kanye essentially had the same speech in 2017 at his ‘breakdown ‘ Pablo performance. Sounds like small things to be concerned about. They’re filthy rich. Yes their agencies and producers take more of the share but they created the artist to begin with, not to mention paid all their productions and the cost f producing videos, albums tours, etc. it’s like any other deal or industry.
