One thing that is clear is that his timing and spatial awareness were both impeccable. It's not a knock to any of the big pop acts that have come in his wake, but while some of them form v good choreo (Gaga etc) everyone has other dancers with them, what set MJ apart was his supreme presence and the electricity he had on stage alone, literally just vibing like we all do w ourselves at home and it took him to the top of the mountain.
Micheal moves match the beats and so freaking perfect ..love his outfit. Love that little jump he did. Cant stop watching MJ,Eddie,Dominic,Levelle,Randy.....never will I get tired
Such a talent! The way he communicated the smoke issue was so professional and managed to keep singing and dancing. I love the pre-lean versions because I love that dance routine they do here a lot. Growing up I only saw him in videos and occasional magazines and yet all of my friends and I dressed like him and enjoyed his music and dancing so much. I am so grateful to see videos like this.
We lost the greatest king of all time. Long live the King in generations to come. There will only be 1 Michael Jackson and the only phenomenon to ever dance into our hearts and soul.
It as all playback up until 4:22 MJ signals the sound mixer to turn his mic on , you can hear him test it at 4:25 At 4:33 he signals he cant hear himself and to turn the PA up out in the audience... He does this all while staying in choreography...
It’s interesting bc it was all the same person but there was the clear divide between his off and on stage persona, I mean like if it was off stage he might be like “oh but um like it’s a lil too much smoke if you could just turn it down a lil bit ok thank you very much appreciated ily !!”
ZR Lol because he’s already performing here live it’s the tour itself already not the rehearsal where he can be relaxed, he was already performing and giving it his all and the energetic that comes out of him when it’s the real performance already, and he’s kind of a perfectionist when it comes to the live stage already.
@@gradybaby_kv I think actually he was most relaxed when performing live, he always said that he never felt like he could be himself fully around people and was v socially awkward, so he had this polite guard he put up, but many people who knew him away from cameras said his persona was more forceful and direct,
smoke/lights are not a stage manager competence, and MJ like any big artist has their men in any position. it's not like lights and smoke machines were managed from locals. they also rehearsal and try the equipment from the morning or the day before with such big shows. but maybe in the 80s it was less professional, considering it's Italy. I I guess a production like this must have been hell. 😂

Just to answer the number 1 question at 4:23 when he raises his hand Michael sings live the first 4 mins in limp sync only from the part when he gives the signal to the stage crew his mic in unmuted and Michael sings (live). Through most of the Bad Tour, Smooth Criminal was half play back and half live vocals. For example in the Wembley concert, he sings the choruses and “you’ve been hit by” bridge completely live. He only lipsyncs the areas of the song that contain lots of choreography. However in shows like NYC he sings the whole song live, along with TWYMMF :)
