Hey John, big fan of yours and a huge fan of MJs, you should maybe review one of his older albums from the 90s and 00s like Dangerous, HIstory, or Invincible for one of your throwback reviews!

YES I support this idea!

I was 13 when the first allegations were made against Michael...so for about 16 years, I felt I had to hide my enjoyment and admiration of him. Its been almost 8 years since he died, and I still struggle with my own emotions about his life, choices, and tragic passing. I don't think Michael was a saint, but he definitely showed a lot more love to people in general, compared to many celebrities.

I always stood behind mike. I was small in the 90s when the first came out but I grew up loving him. I think his last good album was Invincible

My feelings for this album are pretty mixed, I think if he was still alive he could've made some of these songs a little better than they came out
@user-yy9xu6pu2d
@user-yy9xu6pu2d 8 лет назад
Yeah. I doubt he'd even release ANY of these songs that are being released posthumously. He would've had his genius say in things.

Timbaland did a good job tf 🙄
@MarceloZ2

Yeah, especially Slave to The Rhythm and Love Never Felt So Good, I just felt like whoever mixed these two songs didn't understood how Michael did things. But on the other hand, songs like Place With No Name and the title track were just on point, especially the title track.

Glad you reviewed this! Many reviewers like Needle drop and spectrum pulse didn't want to review this album because it was released without Michael's consent.

Hey John, you should really really do a review on MJ's album Invincible that came out in 2001 for one of your throwback reviews. It's his most underrated album but in my opinion, his greatest.

+Michael J. Jackson I love that album & being an American I felt so cheated we had no idea about it. I love the entire album in 2001 the green 1

Indeed! I agree it is his most underrated album! It is definitely on par with his older and more famous works imo.

Spot on review, my friend. Your foreword before the review is the sad but honest truth. With all of that said, I gave this album a 7.7 out of 10. The remixes were hit and miss for me but the majority of them were respectable. However, I found the original demos to be either good or great. All in all, Xscape is a decent posthumous effort. It's not on the level of Dangerous or HIStory but it's a cut above the rest (BOTDF, Invincible, and Michael). Favorite Tracks: 1. Love Never Felt So Good (Demo) 2. Loving You (Demo and Remix) 3. A Place with No Name (Demo) 4. Slave to the Rhythm (Demo and Remix) 5. Do You Know Where Your Children Are (Demo and Remix)

Of course it's not on the levels of his albums released WHILE HE WAS ALIVE. Michael spent what, FOUR years between each album release. F O U R. He was a perfectionist. He didn't have a say on any of this.
@chrislacy1990
@chrislacy1990 8 лет назад
+Melanie R. Hey Melanie, appreciate your feedback! Like you, I've followed Michael's career for years and one of his greatest gifts as an artist was his perfectionism. Nothing will ever measure up to the music he made while he was alive; however, this is the best posthumous album we've received. All eight tracks have musical diversity, lyrical genius and great instrumentation. I'm torn about "the making of." From what I read, Timbaland didn't pay much attention to the original source material and forced his sound upon it. If this is true, that's a slap in the face to Michael and us, the fans.
@archiecook55
@archiecook55 7 лет назад
I agree that it's better than BOTDF and Michael, but disagree about it being better than Invincible. That one in my opinion is a gem and I find it sad that it often gets overlooked.

Unicorn Lady (formerly archiecook55) Thanks for sharing your input! My appreciation for 'Invincible' has grown since my original comment from three years ago; however, its bloated length and uneven track sequencing bring it down a few notches for me. However, if cut down to nine tracks, we have a near-perfect album that deserves to be mentioned with his beloved classics: 1. Unbreakable 2. Invincible 3. Butterflies 4. Threatened 5. Heartbreaker 6. Whatever Happens 7. Heaven Can Wait 8. You Rock My World 9. Break of Dawn
@archiecook55
@archiecook55 7 лет назад
It does have 16 tracks so I can see where you are coming from when you say it is bloated especially if you don't typically listen to music for long periods at a time, and some of the songs are definitely better than others, but I can still find something to enjoy even in the songs I don't quite like as much. Perhaps it would've been better if he had just put those 9 on the album as the main tracks but then release the others as deluxe edition tracks or something so that people who don't care to listen to all of them can just get the shorter album without the deluxe.

Thanks for the review! Yeah I do agree with you on the fillers production-wise. Blue Gangsta's production does sound repetitive and I prefer the original version better. Same goes to A Place With No Name but the updated version kinda grew on me. But for an album, it does feel short for only having 8 tracks for the standard edition, no? Anyways, I enjoyed the review :)

Well 1st off +ARTReviews that was from demos I am sure that its a good album but its not finished with Michael approval Personally it reminds me of the songs from the 80s great to dance to. He left songs for his children to benefit etc. Invincible was cutting edge music back than. Michael was so ahead of the game.

The deluxe version is way better since they actually have the original cuts; which I feel are much better and makes me feel that they should've released the album like a deluxe at launch.

My personal opinion on this is that while it is definitely not as good as the albums that were released when he was still alive (honestly I don't think anything is, Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, and Invincible are legendary and all rank among my favorite albums I've ever heard), but I can still enjoy the songs on this album. My favorite tracks are Chicago, A Place With No Name, Slave to the Rhythm, and Blue Gangsta (but only the original for Blue Gangsta). On my other favorites I like the remixes and the originals pretty much equally.

Xscape was handled better than the first posthumous album which doesn't even sound like him in parts.

Every original version of the songs are a 10/10 for me. The remixes? The only ones I like is Slave to The Rhythm, Loving You, A Place With No Name, and Love Never Felt so Good, but solo not with Justin Timberlake. 6/10 for the remixes

The main problem I have with the song are the parts about the girl dealing with sexual abuse and her selling her body (AT THE AGE OF 12). Those lyrics are easy to fix. Have the girl be 18 instead of 12, have her be verbally abused (which would be easier to recover from) and have her father be punished for what he did. What's that? The song writers aren't gonna change that? Well then. This song's dead to me.

Julia Aanopik I'm sorry, but I just found this song really hard to listen to due to some of the choices MJ had lyrically for the song.
