@@eek8605 for consideration of the GOAT it doesn't work that way. It's the one who did it better in lesser time that wins. the pistons documentary had Thomas, Laimbeer, and others explaining how it took the whole team just to slow Jordan down (Jordan Rules) it worked a few seasons but the bulls started to involve more of the team to score and MJ started to perfect his famous fade away as an alternative to going to the hole every time.. that's when they started beating the Pistons. not because of a rule change.. they were still trying to beat him up an be just as physical but MJ adapted his game.the Jordan rules were far more than just legal play that was more physical.. Pistons whole plan was to foul an foul hard. it was full fledged hard fouls that they knew refs would call.... the pistons would alternate to avoid everyone fouling out... rule change? cmon..

Let me just frame this argument for everyone: When Jordan was at his peak, just about everyone in the league was in agreement that he is the best ever. His predecessors, both Magic and Larry said and still say he is the best ever. Larry even called him “God in basketball shoes.” 6 championship rings, 6 Finals MVPs, 5 MVPs, Defensive Payer of the Year, 2 Olympic GOLD medals, 10 Scoring Titles, NCAA Championship..:: The Jordan vs. LeBron debate will be put to bed when LeBron retires. And it will play out just like the Kobe debate. Y’all are just trying to compare him to Jordan to keep people interested in the NBA and to keep your jobs. When the real Jordan replacement comes in, there will be no debate, just like there wasn’t a debate with MJ. MJ wowed the entire world. LeBron isn’t at that level. He’s not a killer. He needs all stars around him that can take over games.

The "more minutes" argument ACTUALLY works in Jordan's favor. It's simply more evidence that Lebron plays in a MUCH softer league. Jordan way tougher than LeBron. LeBron admits this himself. Jordan had the brutal competitive spirit and mental edge matched by no one. In terms of physicality, Jordan was a cardio machine. Michael could probably have had 9 straight Finals (and won) had he not hung it up im between and.. I don't care how many Finals LeBron gets, he has zero competition in his conference and that's been the case ever since the former Boston big 3 dissolved. Obviously he's gonna get there every year.. and then he still ends up losing more than half of them! If James had to play in the West ever in his career I doubt he even makes(!) 3 Finals, let alone win one or two... So yeah, on degree of difficulty alone Jordan has the edge.. plus he's 6 for 6.

Here's the deal. In the Eastern Conference alone, come playoffs time MJ has to face these teams. 1.Charlotte with Zo, Rice and Curry. 2. Indiana with Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson and Rik Smiths, 3. back in the 80's ATL with Nique , 4. Orlando Magic with Shaq, Penny, and Mike Anderson 4. the New York Knicks with John Starks, Patrick Ewing, and Charles Oakley. 5. Atlanta again with Smith and Dikembe. 6. Miami with Zo, Smith, and Tim hardaway. Now all of these teams back in the late 80's and 90's can easily beat the Cavs and Warriors of today. I dont know why you have to look at an odometer or the length of playing mins. If you want who's tougher? MJ wouldnt like sitting on the bench just because he has to be rested. And for 82 regular season games he played lights out basketball win or lose. Lebron played longer coz he jumped from High School to the pro's and that pretty much common sense. But you know what?, i think LaVar Ball could guard either MJ or Lebron lights out! (sarcasm) haha. Peace out!

Hey, you count Lebron's mins played from age 18 to when this was posted, you get the same numbers. You count Mike's mins played from age 18 to the end of his career, guess who has more.

Your argument is flawed. The gentleman who supported Jordan is saying that the game was tougher and grittier. Yet the gentleman supported Lebron rebutted with how the road was longer and he played more minutes. The tougher road is different than longer road. For example, boxing. Fighting some guy is different than just cardio exercise. Fighting takes more energy out of you. Social media argument, did Jordan not faces gambling, father passing, and media scrutiny? Of course he did!

Josh Knight I don't count championship rings as an individual accomplishment, that's an organizational goal and accomplishment. Michael Jordan had a better team, coaching staff, and organization behind him in the Chicago Bulls. He was the best player I'd ever until what I see nowadays from Lebron. Lebron does it with less around him in my opinion, both great players but I give the edge to Lebron, he's still going to add more to his resume.

yes the game has changed, they made it less physical, softer fouls are called often. Defense where to start, you need heart to play defense, players these days charges are a thing of the past. For me the thing that stands out between these two is that Jordan had that killer instinct at both ends of the court. Thats why they won there rings without going to game 7 each time, and no its not by coincidence, thats just how good they were as a team with MJ as the leader. He was the first global superstar basketball player who took the game to a whole new level.

Other than Kobe's 5 rings in which Lebron has more Finals MVPs than Kobe, Lebron beats Kobe in every major stats except FT shooting. Lebron averages more ppp, more assist a game, far higher FG%, better 3pt FG%, more rebounds, more steals, more blocks and 3 more MVPs. What argument is there that Kobe is close to Lebron? People says Kobe is a great scorer but Kobe averages 25 ppg to Lebron's 27 ppg and Kobe shoots more. It's not even close.
@lamar1990lg
@lamar1990lg 7 лет назад
Your Stats can easily be 27 PPG when all you do is try to get 27 PPG every game Kobe tried for 50 60 a night how many 60 PG 50 PG and 40 PG does Lebron has compare to Kobe??? Kobe is a better Scorer the difference is Lebron is settled at 27 points per game because that's his ceiling of scoring Kobe was a volume shooter Kobe could have easily average 27 if he was content to just scoring 27 points in a game Lebron is mentally obsess with 27
@maurice5112
@maurice5112 7 лет назад
+L-Mighty Effect That makes no sense since Kobe has missed more shots than anyone is nba history. Lebron has a career FG % of over 50% while Kobe never even shot 47% at least once in his entire career. Kobe wants to always shoots the ball and still manage to average less points. People are equating scoring mentality for being a great scorer. Where does Lebron ranks all time in scoring average and where does Kobe ranks? There is not Stat other than FT that Kobe does better. He's highly competitive, I'll give him that. NBA regular season Lebron ranks 5th all time with 27.2 ppg Kobe ranks 12th all time with 24.9 ppg NBA playoffs Lebron ranks 4th all time with 28.3 ppg Kobe ranks 11th with 25.6 ppg Kobe isn't even ranked top 10 all time in regular or playoff scoring averages

Lebron James is a Slasher he's not a Shooter his 2pointers and 3's are suspect he has a higher 3 point percentage because he take less 3's he has a higher field goal percentage because he scores closer to the basket its common sense. Kobe Bryant has scored over 50% during his years with Shaq and post Shaq what games have you've been watching. I've watched every game of Kobe Bryant since 1996-97 He is better than Lebron played in a higher conference than Lebron

One thing that needs to be made clear about Cowherd's used car/odometer argument is that even if Lebron is a "car" with more mileage, he was a car that for the most part ran on perfectly smooth & ashpalted roadways, whereas Jordan was a car that went through off-road rocky paths and had to go through boulders to climb up mountains. It makes all the difference that their paths, eras & rules are not the same. It was a more physically punishing era, & great players then received a lot of abuse(which, naturally makes one tougher). Can you imagine NFL players having to play an 82 game season, or more than 1 game a week? Exaggeration, yes...but it was pretty close. So yes, JORDAN WAS TOUGHER.And that's why the NBA made rule changes, because when the great ones all retired, nobody could score anymore!! Making the game less entertaining for the public in the NBA executive's eyes (TV ratings). It was much harder to win championships then in succession (& he won 6!!). You can argue all you want about Lebron having better all-around numbers, but Jordan was clearly the Greatest LEADER & WINNER ever. He did everything his teams needed him to do to win and that's why they won so much. Lebron apparently does not, and that's why he's lost so much.

Yes and let's not forget all that HELP that got LeBron to those FINALS... When, LBJ joined Miami Heat here were the stats of some of the Players that joined him DAY 1.Dwayne Wade - 30 ppg, 8 asts, 5 rbs Chris Bosh - 24 ppg, 11 rbs, 2 asts Mike Miller - 11ppg , 6 ast, Udonis Haslem - 10 ppg, 8 rebs Ray Allen didn't join the Heat when LBJ joined the heat, but was a key reason Lebron got his second ring and why LBJ doesn't have a 2-5 Finals record. When LBJ joined the Cavs here were the stats players had when joining DAY ONE…Kyrie Irving - 21 ppg, 6 asts pg, 4 rbs Kevin Love - 26 ppg, 13 rebs, 4 asts Tristan Thompson 12 pts, 9 rebs Timofey Mozgov - 9 ppg, 8 rebs Compare that help with MJ’s Scottie Pippen who is a HOF, people think came into the league as an all-star, but Scottie didn’t even start his Rookie season, and wasn’t an All-star until his 4th year in 1990. During MJ’s 6 championship seasons here was his help: 1st 3-peat: Scottie Pippen - 17ppg, 7 rbs pg, 6 ast pg Horace Grant - 13 ppg. 8 rbs pg A bunch of role players. 2nd 3-peat: Scottie Pippen - 19 ppg, 6 rbs pg, 6 ast pg Dennis Rodman - 6 pg, 15 rbs Toni Kukoc - 13 ppg, 4 rbs Steve Kerr - 8 ppg 2 ast. MJ = GOAT

Michael Jordan was DOMINANT. He didn't let another player score 32 on him in the finals per game (KD), or his opponent get finals MVP (Kawhi), or 2 other players outplay him in the finals (Wade and Dirk) etc etc. As a matter of fact, other than his 95 rusty comback serious against Orlando, he never let a single player outshine him in a series. Here are a few of many stats to show you just how dominant he was - Michael Jordan has 5 of the 7 top playoff series scoring averages of all time and 6 of the top 10. Lebron doesn't have one in the top 10. Kobe doesn't. Wilt doesn't even have one. He averaged over 40 PPG in 5 different playoff series. That's insane. His top 6 playoff series averages are 45.2, 45, 43.7, 43., and 41 respectively, the last being in the finals. Michael Jordan was 2nd leading player all time in steals, DPOY award, 6th all time guard in rebounds (Saying LBJ is a better rebounder is ridiculous, he plays forward! of course he grabs more boards!). Highest scoring average, and postseason scoring averages of all time. Michael Jordan has more Post-Season Records than Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Kobe and Lebron Combined. Jordan holds a whopping 42 NBA Playoff Records. To put that in prospective, this is how he measures up to other All Time Players: Number of Playoff Records: Michael Jordan - 42 Bill Russell - 15 Wilt Chamberlain - 13 Lebron James - 6 Kareem Abdul Jabaar - 5 Kobe Bryant - 5 Jordan holds the Highest career PER average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest career Efficiency rating average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest career Gamescore average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest career Winshares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan holds the Highest MVP shares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history. Jordan is the only player to lead the league in Scoring and Win Defensive player of the Year a season. Jordan is the only player to Win a championship, scoring title and steals title in the same season.

Can we stop comparing Lebron to Jordan? They're two different players with 2 different playing styles. Lebron's pass first, run the team guy. Jordan is a scoring machine. You get the one you're team needs. Game Bred Peace man. We need to just laugh at it. It will be hard for people to stop comparing Lebron to Jordan unless proven who is really tougher, physically and mentally, and who is the real/true GOAT. Yes, both have different style of play. But, the question is still debated. Who is really greater? MJ who won more championships, or LBJ who played 9 straight in NBA Finals. It's kinda more like Ferocity and Superiority of Jordan VS Versatility and Tenacity of Lebron. For me, I'll give it 5 more years to see if Lebron can make all of these next 5 years to the NBA Finals. Who knows? He could reinvent his style of play, he can make his team invincible, a scary one that he won't need to play in the 4th quarter.

Colin’s car metaphor was so insanely stupid and I wonder why nobody calls him out. Buying a car with 100k km in a country with good road system is not the same as buying a car with 100k km in a country were the roads are full of bumps and holes. Also I can sell you a car that has 50k km but its 35 years old, the engine might be ok but you might need to throw the rest of the car away in a couple of years... My point is that it’s totally different playing 82 games in a season while you might get hacked 4-5 times in a season and playing a season when you get hacked 4-5 times a game

George Daugherty he didn't flop at least he was getting punched every time he was getting to the rim. the bad boys are one of my favourite team ever but you can't deny the fact they always crossed the line. lbj would have died against them

lol @ last resort I can shut any lebron being close to being as good as MJ theories down in ONE paragraph in their careers up to thus point lebron 25ppg reb7.6pg, ast6.7pg FG%.50 stl1.3pg blk 0.6PG Jordan (including Wizard years where he was 38-40 years old past his prime) 30.1ppg reb6.1pg ast5.3pg FG%.505 stl 2.3pg blk1pg so that's four out of 6 categories Michael Jordan leads in.. athleticism.. Michael Jordan 48" vertical lerbon 44" vertical www.reference.com/sports-active-lifestyle/highest-vertical-leap-recorded-nba-history-ed9b8529d4ddea5a that's 5 out of 7 categories that Jordan leads lebron in so he isn't the best all-around .. however lebron DOES lead in turnovers 3.4 to Jordan's 2.6 NBA finals stats MJ 34PPG 6RPG, 6APG, 2STL, 0.7 BLK 48%FG W/L 24-11 record 6-0 lebron 26.7PPG 9.6RPG 6.8APG. 1.81STL 0.78BLK 47.4%FG W/L 16-23 record 3-4 and here goes another 5 out of 8 categories that MJ beats lebron in so please, somebody tell me, HOW IS LEBRON A BETTER ALL AROUND PLAYER THAN MICHAEL JORDAN?? STATS SAY OTHERWISE???

I don't think people understand how the human body works. We adapt to the certain situations we are in. If Lebron was playing in the 80s or 90s he would be more physical bc that was required during the time. It would be the same for bird and Jordan if they played during Lebrons time. They wouldn't be near as physical bc they would rack up fouls. I don't understand why people don't get this.

I hate it when, people like Collin have never played the game but got all the answers. What's sad is others who never played believe what their saying. Both guys are good period...Labron will be compared to someone else 10 years from now. This conversation is repeated every 10 to 20 years.

Tod Wilkinson Your right, it's the money today. These guys are like, I've made it now. They don't care. Remember how Shaq was balling after he won the championship, he was passed around from team to team. He didn't care anymore.

nate k Bruh Scottie Pippen got drafted in 87 as a rookie.. Jordan came in with scrub players!! Even then Pippen was awful.. lol he hadn't developed and didn't become an all star until 1990!!! Came in with players like David Greenwood, Sidney Green, Chris Engler, Wes Matthews, Rod higgins, Steve Johnson etc don't even get me started.. The 80s Bulls were just as bad as Early 200s Cavs
