What really makes jordan great was his fundamentals + his athleticism + defensive reading. He understands that lifting your pivot foot on a shot or pass is not traveling (fundamentals), he reads the defense and does this step and a half spin when the defense takes away his aggressive drive (reads the defense), and uses his athleticism to create more separation. Lets face it, ppl can have the other two but jordan also had the gift to cover way more space legally in games and finish at the rim that others would not necessarily have to complement the other areas they were strong in. Jordan was strong in all of these.
Jordan properly utilized his physical attributes (large hands, 6'6" frame) with his abilities (vertical leap, agility) and melded it together with basketball fundamentals and skills (jumpshot is perfect in form) and unmatched competitiveness = GOAT
Just admit. Just fucking admit it. He’s the the greatest. To all you young cats it must be shocking for you to see such an array of Videos highlighting the variety of Jordan’s skills. Flying through the air- y’all know that already. But dayum, the footwork, spin moves, the layup packages, fadeaway, post moves, jump shots from anywhere, no look dimes, acrobatic plays. Man there’s no other player in history that has such a wide variety of highlights on RU-vid. NONE.
so, it's either a super quick spin, to the rim, amazing ball control avoiding help defenders resulting in dunks or layups...or it's a slower, stutter stepped spin away from the defender that results in a fade away....or, it's a quick spin away from the defender that leads to a fadeaway. even if you knew he was going to do it, you wouldn't be sure which of the 3 he was going to pull on you. I really, really miss the 80s and 90s
