Jordan dominated his decade greater than any other player in their decades (60, 70, 80, ect.). Its not up for debate who dominated the 90s but it is up for debate in EVERY other decade. Jordan is simply the greatest ever
Well to be fair bill Russell winning 11 is honestly nuts idc how many teams if you were a high level athlete u know how hard it is to win at any level and to win 11 he doesn't get enough credit frankly
Yes, yes, yes, yes and YES. I cannot disagree with anything you said. The GOAT of basketball and very serious contention for the greatest athlete in organized team sports history...
As much as the NBA is licking Lefraud's nutsuck right now, they still put MJ on the pedestal alone at NBA Top 75. All the other legends surrounding him while MJ is front, top, and center. Even the NBA can't deny who the real GOAT is.
@@skap_attack I agree. I can't say for sure he's the greatest athlete in organized team sports history (yes, I see you used "contention") but that claim is far more believable than LeBron James as the goat of basketball.
The only * on all that is that advanced stats and metrics are not applied to the era when Wilt played. If they were, his numbers would tower over everyone. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I am a die-hard MJ fan, but even I have to admit that Wilt was the most dominant player ever. The NBA changed rules to try and slow him down.
Don't forget he doesn't lead the all time list on turnovers like LeSwept James. Also, he never cheated the game by flopping, whining, waiting for the referees to makes calls or load managing. Don't forget Jordan never joined super teams or left Chicago to team up with Barkley, or Malone or Miller or Ewing. LeBron teams have traded 188 players to make the """"King"""" happy. Jordan teams only 35 trades. More importantly, he never talked about politics or instilled the victimhood mentality to young kids.
It's great that you're reminding today's kids about this, but I know it too well. Even watching it all the way from Scotland, I knew that his authority and dominance were implacable. He was a winning machine.
The ULTIMATE player. Jordan was basically a combination of Russell's winning and leadership wrapped with Wilt's individual dominance. A package that has never been in any other player before or since. There is only one Jordan.
@@skap_attack yes! MJ was like Russell, Wilt, and Kareem all wrapped up into a 6’6 shooting guard. He was so good it sounds like a fairy tale to this generation.
Michael Jordan dominated, owned and ruled the NBA in the 1990s. The dude was must watch TV in the 1990s, 24/7, 365 days a year. The dude was a great competitor, he would do whatever it takes to win at all costs, he never complained and never needed a superteam and Skap Attack, MJ dominated the MBA in an era where Big Man was the main focus on offense and defense. MJ did it all. And I'll also say this, Hakeem Olajuwon winning his 2 championships is underrated. He won back to back championships around a team that was just average at best and he carried his team to back to back championships against way more harder competition. MJ is the GOAT and in my opinion, Hakeem is the greatest center of all time in my opinion. Hakeem needs more respect
@skap_attack For real. Hakeem definitely deserves more respect. Everyone wanna say that he only won back to back championships because MJ retired the first time but damn in those 2 years that Jordan retired, that gave the entire NBA to win a championship now since Jordan was gone and Hakeem took advantage
LeBron apologists claim the 90s was an “easy” decade because Jordan won all the time. No one gives the Sonics, the Knicks and especially the Utah Jazz their due. Utah had probably the 3rd best PG all time. John Stockton was a machine of efficiency and lead the league in assists NINE seasons in a row. And the only reason Karl Malone isn’t considered the single greatest power forward of all time is… because of Michael Jordan. Tim Duncan won at the highest level. Malone didn’t. But stat-wise, Karl is clearly superior to Duncan, but Duncan elevated in the playoffs and Karl ran into MJ. MJ isn’t the Goat because he won against multiple dynasties. He’s the Goat because he PREVENTED multiple dynasties.
These are all straight facts. The sonics and the Jazz are two of the greatest teams of all time to never win a title. The Jazz might be vying against the OKC Thunder for the top spot on that list...
LeFrauds pathetic fan base doesn't like this comment 😂 also the clowns in the media , you're taking their bread off the table 😂 You are 100% on point with this comment.
The 90s is easy but not because Jordan won. None of those other players are comparable to the other eras great. Charles Barkley is a 6’5 Power Forward. There was no Wilt Russell Kareem Magic Larry Kobe Lebron KD or Steph type players. David Robinson and Shaq were great but they were significantly younger than Jordan. The Jazz were so good they dropped 54 in a finals game. The warriors score that in a quarter during the 2010s with KD Steph and Klay combining for 70PPG a night of offense and that doesn’t include the role players lake Livingston Iguodala and Green. Also am I the only one that noticed Jordan’s production dived in the late 90s with the introduction of new era guards like Grant Hill Kobe and AI.
Of course the case can be made LeBron was the best player of the 2010s, BUT he lost more finals than he won in that decade AND he lost 3 out of 4 head to head against Curry LOL
Jordan to me is the Best to Ever do it because he dominated at the 2 in an era full of talented Bigs while not having one on his team. He also took the NBA Global. We could only speculate what would’ve been if he was to play all the 10 years but the expectations he set on himself was high and was never disappointing. Like 95 he lost to the Superteam Magic and came back the next year to sweep them and complete the second 3-peat after retiring for nearly 2 years. There are basketball fans today that wasn’t fans of the sport until MJ took it on a Global Scale.
Michael jeffrey jordan annihilated the 90s like no other player he is the gold standard by which we measure greatness.i have never seen this kind of Dominance in my lifetime.🐐🐐🐐🐐23 thank you skap attack for telling the truth in your videos.🙏🙏🙏
My absolute pleasure, and many THANKS to YOU for watching. I appreciate you! And I agree with you. I have never seen anything like Jordan either. In fact, no one has, and likely we never will see anything like it ever again.
The 90’s was really for the love of the game. It wasn’t about trades, it wasn’t about contacts, it wasn’t about locker room drama… it was about the game. And when we did hear about drama, most of the time we hear about it much later on. Jordan will always be the goat to me… He did damage without relying on the 3 pointer. Then on top of that, you couldn’t foul the guy… and if you did, he was a reliable free throw shooter (while getting rest) on the free throw line. Jordan was must see tv. Great vid!
It is so difficult to compare and contrast players from different eras. BUT if you look at EACH era, Jordan DESTROYED his in a way no other player has EVER come remotely close to. For that reason alone, without even taking into account the global and cultural impact Jordan made, he is the EASY GOAT to me as well. THANK YOU for watching. I appreciate you!!
This is so true that the 90s basketball was for the love of the game. The league will follow the face/the best player of the league and Jordan absolutely loved the game. The fact that the league follows the face of the league is the reason why the NBA is unwatchable to me now.
@@nayyabmughal1123And also 2nd for most conference championships, behind Bill Russell and Sam Jones, who played mostly in a nine team league. LeBron James is clearly the goat
That era changed basketball as we know it and took it global. It was crazy to have lived through the Jordan phenomenon. I can't even imagine how much crazier for Jordan it would have been if internet was as big as it were now.
This series is so good, my man. Naturally this one being my favourite as I grew up with MJ and the 90’s Bulls. I love the respect that you’ve shown Hakeem here too, easily the most underrated player in NBA history in my opinion. Looking forward to the next one!
Hakeem routinely gets shit on because of the timeframe that he was unfortunate enough to play in. Clashed with the Magic Lakers and Bird Celtics in the 80s and then was overshadowed by Jordan in the 90s. I think Hakeem is a top 10 all time player and displayed arguably one of the 2-3 greatest peaks ever. Had to give him some run here. BUT, let's not get it twisted, Jordan's strangle hold on the 90s was unlike anyone else's ever. It isn't close. People might point to Russell's run in the 60s, but he wasn't close to the best individual player of that decade. That was Wilt. Jordan was essentially what it would look like if Russell won by dropping Wilt's individual numbers. He was the greatest combination of winning, individual dominance, stats, etc. It's WHY he is the EASY GOAT.
@@skap_attack I hope you mean best defender at his position not his decade. Hakeem is easily the better defender and Scotty was the better defender on his team.
They use 10 Jordan scoring titles to 1 Lebron, 7 for Wilt against Lebron. However 30 PPG Season Average - Wilt 9 seasons. Jordan 8. Lebron 4. Also the top 5 seasons PPG averages belong to Wilt not Jordan. Finally most 20PPG ever Lebron, 30PPG Lebron, 40PPG Wilt, 50PPG - 100PPG is Wilt.

Another fantastic video and I couldn't agree more! Glad you gave Hakeem The Dream the love and respect he deserves. Stats wise, Hakeem is the all around GOAT who could literally do anything on the court. But, Hakeem could only win once MJ retired. 💯
Saying Hakeem could only win once MJ retired doesn't make sense because they've never clashed in a playoff series. That statement holds true to Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley etc if they had won, cause all of them lost to Jordan but Hakeem vs Jordan never happened, so you can never know what could've happened. Jordan's the goat for sure, but saying Hakeem only won cause Jordan wasn't in the league is silly.
I don't think Jordan retiring is what allowed Hakeem to win his two titles, especially during the period the Bulls had no Horace Grant and no Dennis Rodman. The Rockets had a winning record against the Jordan Bulls during the first three-peat in the regular season due to Hakeem being a really bad matchup for the centers on the Bulls, but the issue was the supersonics were a bad matchup for the Rockets and kept the Rockets from getting out of the west to play their more favorable matchup in the Bulls. Everything else you said was good though.
@@matthewhermes8839 ...Facts are facts. Hakeem won nothing when Jordan dominated and they only had 2 good years which coincide with Jordan's retirement. It isn't rocket science. The Bulls had a basic center and it didn't matter. Hakeem won the first ring against a very young Shaq which is not impressive and against a Knicks team without a real superstar.
@@truth1844 That being said, I was not trying to diminish Hakeem's impressive achievements, just also acknowledging MJs clear dominance of the 90s, like Skap does so well in this video.
Thank you so much for continuing to tune in and support the channel, I appreciate you!! And I also agree with you. There will NEVER be someone to come along and equal what this guy did. I know he retired for basically 2 years in between. So if you want to take a FEW style points off for that, I get it. BUT, he led the league in scoring and won the title while being the best defender at his position for 6 consecutive seasons he played in the league. There is NO chance anyone is EVER going to be able to duplicate that.
@@skap_attack I have given you a few of the "coincidences" regarding Kobe and Lebron...here are a few for Jordan Jordans total playoff points in the 1993 playoffs = 666pts (scored 33 points in the clinching game) (33 days later) or "4 weeks 5 days later" ....Jordans father "dies" July 23rd 1993 he retires in October 1993 comes back to the nba wearing "45" ( remember " 4 weeks 5 days later") Full season 1996 comes back to the nba and wins 3 more nba championships 96 = 6 games vs Sonics (72-10 NBA record at the time and Jordan wins on FATHERS DAY) 97 = 6 games vs Jazz 98 = 6 games vs Jazz 2nd 3peat "(#23)= 666
Skap the goat at making basketball content, no bias, just facts and got actual stats and information to back up all the points you make, your a real nba analyst unlike those over at espn.
I grew up loving the Utah Jazz because Greg Ostertag went from the University of Kansas and was drafted by the Jazz. I love 90s basketball and all those teams. It was rough watching those two finals yet still epic.
I am so fond of the 90s, as it was the first full decade of NBA hoops that I watched. I was born in the 80s, but "grew up" in the 90s. It's honestly still difficult to comprehend exactly what Jordan accomplished in that decade.
@@skap_attack Dude you're so lucky imagine being a kid & tuning into NBA on NBC and seeing Jordan vs. Clyde, Jordan vs. Barkley etc. I'd never wanna watch anything else
@@baxterbrown8088 it was a BEAUTIFUL time for basketball. Frankly I also LOVED the 2000s and think it’s an underrated decade. Which I will be covering in detail in my next episode…
Imagine starting middle school (6th grade) just leaving elementary school, with the Jordan Bulls winning a title. Then upon your high school graduation the Jordan Bulls still winning another title. All in between that time all you knew about basketball involved Michael Jordan even in his 2 retirement years. I remember during that time I was living through something that will never ever be done again.
Love the breakdown here. Hakeem deserves the crazy respect you gave him and when you put it that way it makes what Jordan did al that more impressive to top that two year run. I take nothing away from Hakeem as I say this: he only won titles the two years Jordan sat out. Absolute dominance. Lebron could never.
Definitely my second favorite decade, it's incredible that Micheal had to beat all those teams, then took a break, then came back and did it all over again with new competitor's, new game plans, he is undoubtedly the Greatest player of all time
I witnessed MJ's dominance firsthand having lived through the era...despite all that, the way you break it down and validate his greatness is just awesome. Excellent job once again!
Micheal Jordan is the greatest athlete and competitor who walked this earth after maybe Achilles. He was dipped in the bitter competitive spirit cauldron since he was a baby. And he could fly.
The man with no equals. The conversation at number two all time is actually stacked. You can make a case for like 6 or 7 guys there. There is no case for number one...
@@skap_attack True. Freakish athleticism, the craziest vertical, and agility to glide forever with those hands. The man is made for basketball physically. Mentally, he's made for anything. There is no equal.
Wayne Gretzky, Usain Bolt, Tom Brady, Aleksander Karelin, Novak Djokovic, Esther Vargeer, Michael Phelps, Muhammad Ali, Lionel Messi, Jim Thorpe, Don Bradman, Tiger Woods, Simone Biles, Edwin Moses. Jordan isn’t CLOSE to a top 10 athlete of all time. It’s debatable whether he’s even the best in his OWN sport. Most of the athletes above are indisputably the greatest in their own sport, and in other cases, are more influential and popular than Jordan (Ali, Messi).
@@gggyy7104 Can any of these guys fly with big hands through the air with a psychotic thought in their mind? Throwing names from Google won't make you a sports writer.
Another banger from the GOAT about the GOAT, always appreciate the content, you’re very good at what you do! Mike was truly supremely skilled, athletically off this planet, and very hard working. what truly separated him was his ASSASSIN mentality, the never give up attitude and just being a stone cold killer in the clutch. I’ve never seen an athlete in any sport with such a strong will, they don’t make them like that anymore, truly.
I was 11 when Jordan’s 90’s reign began. By far that decade was COMPLETELY DOMINATED by him more than ANYONE had dominated a decade previously and afterwards. MJ, over ANY player before or since was ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE TV!
Love your videos! 90s basketball was so fun to watch! The players in that era were built different. MJ’s dominance is unmatched. There is no debate about who the GOAT is!
The debate for number two is actually so utterly compelling. You can make a case for about 6 or 7 different guys. But there is no debate at the top spot... THANK YOU for tuning in, I appreciate you!!
Phenomenal video and information! Aside from the UTTER DOMINACE of MJ in the 90's, it's great that you gave the PROPER RESPECT DUE to KARL MALONE and HAKEEM 2 G.O.A.T'S in their own right.
Absolutely! It's a shame other players get diminished because Jordan was THAT damn great. But, well, that's just how damn great Jordan was lol. Many THANKS to YOU for tuning. I appreciate you!
Honestly your 70s video put my perspective of Kareem into question. I usually ranked Kareem 3rd all-time, but I might consider moving him to 5th behind MJ, Kobe, Russell and Bird.
Straight up we don’t talk enough about Hakeem’s back to back title seasons. 95 alone may be the most impressive title run of all time. Two clinchers on the road & a Finals sweep. Wow
Early New Years gift. Thank you Skap, looking forward with anticipation towards what you have planned for 2024, never stop dismantling and exposing LeFraud. Happy New Year from Georgia.

I rarely hear jordan in the most dominant player debate, usually it boils down to shaq at 1 and wilt behind him. While they both have great arguments, jordan has an insanely good one too, the dude three peated twice in 8 years, and before that won dpoy AND a scoring title in the same year. It was complete dominance
Well said my friend, MJ is indeed the greatest of all time. Ofc now I can't wait to see your video about the next decade. About the man who was the closest we've seen to Michael Jordan. Kobe.
One very relevant fact missing from this video: 626 game streak MJ played without losing 3 games in a row, from 90-98. WINNING!! If that's not era dominance I don't know what it is. Truly on a league of his own, the GOAT.
". Everyone at this table will be forgotten as soon as our time here is up - except for you. You're gonna be remembered forever, because some things are eternal. You're Michael Jordan, and your story is gonna make us want to fly." - Sonny Vaccarro
Man, I miss the 90s but at the same time I am grateful I was able to grow up to this golden era of professional basketball. I remember watching the Bulls beat the SuperSonics back in 96' and MJ broke down and we all knew why. That was the year I said this dude is the goat and we will NEVER see another Michael Jordan again.
So spot-on! Great to give credit to the 90's stars--especially Hakeem and Malone, who only missed 1 of those 3 games in the 90's due to injury--who otherwise would be regarded even more highly BECAUSE THEY WERE DENIED TITLES by Jordan. MJ's true greatness was in his insane mental strength and discipline, keeping otherwise all-time great players from winning (even shutting them out completely from an NBA title)! Barkley+KJ, Ewing+Starks, Kemp+Payton, Shaq+Penny, Reggie+Smits, and Stockton+Malone would have EASILY WON TITLES in their team's respective best seasons. Thus, their legacies would have greatly changed, particularly Malone (could have won 5 Scoring Titles and had an MVP 3-peat in addition to 2 titles) and Stockton (a stronger case for #1 PG when factoring in context of lacking the dynastic teammates of his 2 peers). Similar to the 80's, the 90's had the greatest player (plus the debatable contender) for all 5 positions (C: Hakeem/Kareem; PF: Mailman/Barkley; SF: Bird; SG: MJ; PG: Magic/Isiah/Stockton). As with the emerging stars of the 80's in their prime in the 90's, there were the dominant players of the 80's who were waning but still outstanding in the early part of the 90's. If excluding players who played significant seasons in both decades (at least 2 years for each decade in which they were key players, such as those above), here are the top-10ish all-time players of their respective positions who played more or less exclusively in one of the 2 decades: The 80's C: Kareem, Moses SF: Julius SG: Gervin, Moncrief The 90's C: Admiral, Duncan, Shaq, Alonzo PF: KG, Webber SG: Kobe PG: Glove, Kidd While the 80's debatably had more juggernaut teams (Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Sixers), the 90's had a greater volume of historically top positional players.
Thank you for this video and appreciating Olajuwon. As a Nigerian I thank you and have also confirmed that Lebron cannot even clean Olajuwon's sneakers not to even mention MJ! Great video Skap!
It is MJ's fault we can't see any other surpassing him, winning is really a part of greatness, and during the 90s, we were spoiled every finals he was in, he will win, we weren't dissapointed.
another great vid SA....the impact of MJ then and even today is still being felt...we all miss the MJ era...(my era)..MJ was the reason i started watching and playing basketball...and i was on the other side of the world.....where no cellphones and internet had been invented...hahahah good old days!
From 87-93, we will never see see a player this consistently elegant & perfect without a stop. Honestly, he wouldn't even needed 96-98 to prove he is the goat. Kobe (2002-03) LeBron (2011-2012) are the only seasons I've ever seen good enough to match any of Jordan's, but that would be all. No one can just top Jordan.
Bill Russell won championships from in 1957& 1959, plus 1960-66, & 1968-1969. Bill Russel was easily the standout, most dominant player of the 1960's. Basketball Time Machine should do a video on that amazing accomplishment by Bill Russell.
1:05 The reason why any kind of superior excellence or overwhelming dominance is reflected in the statement, “He or she is the Michael Jordan of (fill in the blank).
That's why I always said that if Lebron had played in the '90s, he would have ended up like Malone, Ewing, Barkley, etc. never winning a Championship until Michael retired!
........................And That's All Folks, Michael Jeffrey Jordan Greatest Of All Time. But major props to Hakeem Olajuwon whom has recently entered my Top 5 All Time
As a Rocket fan that saw virtually every game Akeem/Hakeem played in college and the NBA, it would have been a lot of fun to see a Rockets Bulls finals (or two). Olajuwon was just a beast in those two seasons at his peak prime.
i grew up watching 90s basketball with my dad, who is a hardcore MJ and bulls fans... one of his goals in life was to visit the united center and watch a bulls game live... coming from a third world country, that seemed like a fleeting dream, but with hard work and patience, our family managed to save up enough to go on vacation in the US... when we finally got to chicago, my dad cried outside the united center and cried even more as the game started, one of his greatest dreams finally coming true...
How? He ain't avg 25fga per game in today'a game and he's bad at 3's. He's averaging at most his career high of 37ppg for which he needed 28fga per game and 12 free throws.
@@andrewcook1246 - He taught himself to shoot while in the NBA. You think he wouldn’t focus on 3 pt shooting in a league that’s different? You understand Jordan out-worked literally everyone else, right? That’s a straight bozo take.
@@jkemp6791 avg 28% from 3pt land if you remove the 3 seasons with a shorter line. The hardest worker took 6 seasons to crack 30% and plenty of players who played without a 3pt shot in college were avg 40% from 3 during this time. MJ shot above league avg 35% 2x during his career in a normal line. He got worse actually in 91 and 92 after a decent 1990 season. Sbot is awfully in his wizards years too and in 98 it took a huve dive after reverting to a normal line. Look kid MJ has a goat case and is unquestionably a top 10 player ever and the best to do it as the SG position. But he can't have it all. He was a lousy 3 pt shooter for the same reason he was amazing from midrange: long hands and big arms. I've only seen kawhi and KD shoot the ball well with big hands and long arms.
In the 90s mj missed 3.75 seasons due to retirement. So if you consider he dominant his decade while being active in just over 60% of the decade that is even more impressive. He won 3/4 championships twice with the almost 2 season break in the middle. That is also incredible.
Thanks for giving credit to the mailman! To me he is criminally underrated due to never playing for title winning Team. With one title in the 90s he probably would be top 10 All Time due to his incredible longevity. You could have mentioned Timmy D who was a 2x First Teamer, Champ and Finals MVP in the 90s and would have been a great opponent for MJ if he hadn't retired (again).
Skap, everyone that contributes to this show, along with your narration. This is the reason why I still wonder why people still watch shows like ESPN. You bring stats that no one else does, just like no one has ever done anything like this before.
Basketball today is like a zero defense circus in the 80s-90s there were 4 people above mj and he beat them all. The players were much better back then and with fewer amenities than today
The thing which pisses me off about it, is this. He didn’t just retire. His father was murdered!!! He attempted to play pro baseball because his father always wanted him to play as a kid. He just developed into the greatest basketball player to ever live by sheer will, determination, and hard work. Also, point of fact: No load management. All these stars were playing night in and night out to compete, win, and for the fans paying hard earned money to see them play. No such thing as me first until all these current drama queens and bitches.
This is the best way to settle the goat “debate” that I’ve seen. Look at the players best decade and compare. When you do that it’s so glaring. Lebron would be the 2010s and it’s just no comparison. Jordan blows him out of the water.
