there are two constants in baseball: The Yankees team is competitive 90+% of the time and the Yankees fans say their team sucks 90+% of the time. A broken clock is right twice a day and you want a thankyou?

Well that sums up what he thinks of us!! He this we are all a bunch of stupid, overreacting babies, who just yell and scream for no reason..... Michael, im not taking anything away from you.... I don’t know how he legitimately views himself as a sports analyst. He gets paid by the Yankees, so he’s a mouthpiece for them. However, to try to act like he is in any way non-biased in his opinion of the Yankees is an absolute joke. I’m a Yankee fan and I cannot defend the poor play and poor front office decisions they have made over the last 20 years.

I disagree. I am not a Yankee fan, but Kay is no apologist and he’s right. How many teams would love to “get it wrong” and make the playoffs year after year?

@@bosstime2010 I know this is going to sound stupid and u realistic but “The Boss” Big Steinbrenner on many occasions was quoted as saying anything short of a Championship is a failure. We all know that is an unrealistic goal, but it has been the mantra. Simply making the playoffs is not the goal. Yankee fans could by and large live with getting to the ALCS and going 6 or 7 games, but to get swept and embarrassed after barely making it out of the Division series? I’ve been listening to Kay for 20 years. I’ve heard him make excuses to defend the Yankees failures (both during the regular season and the Post season). I’ve heard him defend Cashman in the front office making horrible trades and free agent signings that failed, heard him defend Boone’s management in playoff series using “an opener” for a starting pitcher against the Red Sox in the Division series and I’ve heard him defend Hal Steinbrenner. I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, I’ve met him on more than one occasion and he is a very nice guy. What I am saying though, is that you cannot be both the voice of the New York Yankees and cash their checks and then be an objective and unbiased radio sports analyst. You have two options if you’re in that position. A. Defend every move they make as an organization or B. Tell the truth and hold their feet to the fire when they make bad decisions that negatively affect the success of the organization. You cannot argue both for and against the team you work for. I don’t blame the guy for being an apologist, he’s got the job he’s always wanted as a fan of his team growing up and is paid very well for it. He just needs to get off the radio and stop this farcical nonsense that he is somehow objective when it comes to analyzing the New York Yankees.

Winning or not the Yankees are a worth almost 8 billion. They do not care about the fans or the product on the field. That died with the boss. The pinstripes were the highest honor in baseball. Now it’s just another uniform because we have gotten to the point of defending mediocrity. George is rolling in his grave.

He's delusional like Cashman, Boone and Steinbriener. Michael Kay is talking as if the Yankees stumble a bit and then get back up on their feet, they've been struggling for years, they are no longer the Evil Empire everyone fears. They get PTSD when they face the Astros and the only teams they seem to be able to beat are the A's and the Royals and the rely on Judge to hit bombs every at bat. The Yankees need a solid rebuild.

@@briangasser973 He has no guts. Susan and John on the radio criticise the Yankees all the time. That's why people don't like him. He's not that good a broadcaster anyway. He's not even knowledgeable about baseball. He was ok when he had Bobby Murcer and Ken Singleton next to him. Now, he's being exposed as a broadcaster. Listen to any other's team broadcaster and you can hear the difference.

Yankees have had a problem for years. Even before last year. 2008 they didn’t make the post season. The last few years s they have be dominated in the post season. They been struggles and players that haven’t pan out. A few trades or lack of trades that they don’t make. Kay is wrong when he says this teams struggle sits just the last year of games

Kay contradicts himself all the time. I specifically remember after they got eliminated last year in the post game he said they cannot run this back again and expect the same results. And that they were exposed.

@@mr.perksy That definitely sounds on brand for him. I've always been a bit easier on Kay than most. But the recent "YOU SOUND LIKE A FAN!" comment was too much. I get that we fans can get emotional, but we aren't idiots. We can see when the FO is crapping into a cone and telling us it's chocolate ice cream.

I would say that's a pretty awful take. However, the objective is to win and win championship. So winning 99 is no different than 100, if you win championships.

Not true. Wild card teams that win championships are better. It’s another season and everyone (all 12 teams) have to figure out how to win it all. That’s strategy.

@briangasser973 The NFL is different. It is such a short season so a wild card kinda makes sense. In baseball, depending on the when in the season, a team can loose 7 in a row and win their division going away! In football you loose 7in a row and your team is finished. As far as the NHL & NBA, I don't know how thier playoffs work, I don't really care about them.

@pm5206 Wild card teams that win the WS are still a team that finished in second place, and are not a better team that the one that was in first place all season and looses 3 out of their last 5 games!

@ron D I have a suggestion but I don't believe Cashman or Hal will do it but it is this... Go young !!! Baseball is best played by young hungry players. Does not mean you get rid of everyone over 30 but you trust the positions to good and very good young players. We have some great talent in the minors, if they are ready give them the job and let them grow and improve. Get good young hard throwing pitchers. It took the Orioles about 3 solid years before now. At least that has been 3 years I have been hearing Mountcastle's name. The years are gonna go by and the Yankees should have been honest with their fans and ask them to be patient while we are building a winner, should take 2 to 3 years...tops !!! The question is... Do we trust Cashman to build this supposed winner or not ? I say start from scratch !

@@SavetheRepublic I am a Yankees fan. but always pointing to the 27 Champs is wrong. We are in the year 2023 they only won 2 in the 21 century. Eventually some one will catch up to the 27. because of how poorly run the Yankees organization is.

When Kay kept on ranting George is dead, that irked me alot. Disrespect to the whole Steinbrenner Family. Was watching that show that day. Almost turned it off!

r u kidding. everybody wanted the young guys to play. even throughout the year was on people wanted them top come up because they when they got hot. plus they had to bring them up because of injuries. Stanton should of never been a yankee. how many players in 50 plus home runs each year. all that money could of been better spent. this team has been built up and not plan A or even B but C & D to try to keep payroll down. Cashman can only do what Hal allows. Hal is a huge problem. he never and still doesn't want to be the owner.
