Michael Kemerer from Iowa wrestles Carter Starocci from Penn State for the 174-poud national title at the 2021 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Subscribe to the NCAA Championship RU-vid channel: ru-vid.com...
Give me a break. Dan Gable did this for 25 years. Cael does it for 7 or 8 years and all of sudden you forget the true master. Get the fuck out of here with your “That can not be disputed” crap.
@@Gymthingz that’s also true, but he was redshirted the first year so that year doesn’t count either. The other guy said that he won’t get a 5th year due to his redshirt, while a redshirt year doesn’t count towards eligibility. Covid is the only reason he might be able to win 5 times because I think he’ll either get two freshman years wrestling, or two sophomore years.
5 of the Iowa starters are from Pennsylvania. WTF are you talking about? What you need to worry about is Now that Penn State has 4 NC to 1 for Iowa and 4 very good wrestlers coming on line for PSU Iowa will finish second next year. That is four loses. 49 and 57 next year are monsters. In other words enjoy this NC now. Next 4 years is dismal for the Hawkeyes.
@@dohcsmr1175 They finished 3rd. Probably will finish 3rd again this 2023 championship run. So long as Penn State's guys come prepared and ready to get out hot and early in the run then they can definitely do it. They gotta get bonus points early in the tournament. Something they did amazingly well last season in 2022. Hell, even Beau Bartlett impressed me despite losing to Sammy Sasso in the semifinals. He'll be one to look out for. Brady Berge is one of those very sad stories of what could've been for him being a possible multi-time NCAA champion just like Bo Nickal, Nick Lee, and all the other greats but because of concussions and other injuries, he wasn't able to stay consistent in getting better and if he had that chance, I bet he'd have been at least a runner up if not winning it all. Berge could just never stay healthy consistently, despite finishing with a very solid 49-16 record at Penn State. So all those injuries eventually piled up on him and it made him really lose his growth after his redshirt sophomore year when he beat a ranked top 5 opponent. That was when I thought he could be a huge part of PSU success, but it is what it is and now Berge is retired from wrestling, finished as a 2-time all American and last year off the podium. Now he's coaching at South Dakota State.
@@zaynes5094 Berge wasn't a 2 time all american. Never placed. Which was surprising considering how good he was. I think he was rd of 16 both years he qualified
Sanderson is an awesome coach! He won the matches he won due to HEART!!!! Neither of these two wrestlers would have been teched 11-0 in the Olympics! Great match!!! It's always heartbreaking when someone has to lose. These guys are both true warriors!!
Man Penn State really just knows how to get their guys calm down the stretch of these tight matches and to just go out and trust that their stuff will come to them and they'll be able to get in those scrambles and to be able to work their own individual stuff. Trust that their training, high motor, and their pace will help them at the end to execute.
I know.....they dumped their way all the way to the team trophy. You do know team titles often are not won in the finals. I can name several times the team title was won without any finalists at all, let alone champs.
@@avidadolares Lol you can convince yourself that’s the case but when you bring 3 guys to the finals and they’re all favorites to win and 2/3 get bounced by penn guys it’s not a good look.
@@hotjteesstreetwear9003 Congrats man but the PSU dynasty will continue after this year. Even when PSU loses they still win. Going 4/4 in finals matches makes up for not getting the team trophy without a doubt
A special coaching staff? PSU recruits Blue Chip recruits yr after yr, these guys are already talented coming out of high school. Not much coaching needed. These guys can go anywhere and win titles...
@@andressandoval9043 that’s a dumbass comment. Especially after seeing what little Brands has done with the exceptional talent at Iowa. If you’re a PSU hater you’re following the wrong sport Andi !
I miss watching Zain, Jason, and Bo wrestle from Penn State. Guys who would look for pin and tech fall first. Carter just looks to win so it’s pretty boring to watch. Do we all remember those four glorious years we got to watch Bo, Zain, and Jason wrestle? Well if for some strange reason you can’t just come to RU-vid and remember. Thank God we have had Spencer, another man who just don’t look to win by decision. Those four go out there to completely dominate by tech or pin.
@@1x403 yea ncaa is a national tournament held only in America you would have to move to America be an incredibly skilled wrestler and then find a school in the ncaas and join their roster
You have to be pretty good for someone to recruit you. Bekzod Abdurakhmonov is Uzbek and was an All-American at Clarion. He's also a world medalist though.
Kemerer beat down starocci in the big tens. I'd imagine carter learned a lot from that match. Nick Lee is dangerous countering, and starocci is a defense wrestler who counters. If you can't land shots easily against them and get sloppy, they'll get counter points. Lee just wore out eierman - he wasn't tested before lee, mistook his barely beating lee as a matter of just not wrestling well and got outlasted. Eierman is good, but watch him wrestle freestyle against zain. He's just good, he's not great. Retherford just throws him around.
Lol. Kemerer scored 61 points in the championship bracket, the most of any wrestler at the tournament. It looked like the Iowa wrestlers exhausted their reserves securing the team title while PSU looked fresh like it was a Friday night dual.
Everything the Iowa wrestler did was perfectly legal. That said, I’m glad wrestling’s equivalent of Tommy Boy didn’t win as it sends the wrong message in my opinion.
Insignia being excited to win one championship out of all the previous years. Guess who is back to the dynasty starting next year.. THE FUTURE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE PENN STATE! WE ARE. (By the way 2-0 vs Hawkeyes in the finals tonight head to head) 😉
