In his career, Michael Martin Murphey had a total of 29 charted singles on the US Billboard Country Singles chart (including two songs that reached the #1 position; "What's Forever For" (1982) and "A Long Line Of Love" (1987)". Murphey even crossed over to the Pop chart when in the 70's, all four of his Billboard Hot 100 charted singles reached the Top 40; "Geronimo's Cadillac" ( 1972/#37), his biggest hit "Wildfire" (1975/#3, also made it to #1 on the BB Country chart), "Carolina In The Pines" (1975/#21), and "Renegade" (1976/#39). Murphey also had two crossover Pop singles with his final Top 40 entry "What's Forever For" (1982/#19) and a minor hit that same year with "Still Taking Chances", where it reached #76 (his final entry to make Billboard Hot 100).
"Disenchanted", recorded in 1983 but charted in early 1984, didn't cross over to the Pop chart but did reach #12 on both the US Billboard Country Singles and US Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. In Canada, the song was also a hit on both the RPM Adult Contemporary and RPM Country Singles charts, respectively reaching #22 and #11.
