I do not claim any copyright on this.
This was first posted several years ago on youtube as indicated by the copyright stamp at the end of the clip. Unfortunately, it is in Cyrillic? script which I cannot translate.
It has now been deleted, but is of such a fine quality music and editing that I have replaced it.
Enjoy.

@@kasiphiaYes, absolutely. I always hear Purcell's "Cold Song" from ca. 1700 here. The idea of the basic rhythmic theme throughout the entire piece is therefore a little bit older...

I remember an interview with Nyman when he explained how the Michael Nyman Band came about. He was asked to do the music for a National Theatre production in the late 60s, and his intention was to get a sound somewhere between that of a rock band and a 'mediaeval street band'. They were called the Campiello Band to begin with, and needed to sound raucous and loud whilst still being 'acoustic'. Saxes gave the impression of old instruments like shawms and curtals. Something like that.

Well as you can infer from my name, I'm French, and this reminds me ALSO the French court... So what you see is aristocracy "nobility" from the post-renaissance. And, it's true that it seems to me that Ireland didn't have a large court and a "famous" kingdom. BTW, I've been in Ireland and I love it... In an old prison cell I heard....

Helen Trope This is the single weirdest feature of US English. I see it all the time but I cannot, for the life of me, understand how anyone could confuse the words than and then. @holliswilliams8426
@holliswilliams8426 2 года назад
@@simonlangley8069 That's fair, but UK English has some features which must seem extremely strange to US speakers (for example, tendency of many dialects to pronounce ''three'' as ''free'').
