The difference between a champion and an extremely talented under achiever is mindset maybe ..... What he said is absolutely true, pushing the limits when you have absolutely no mood to do so is what makes the difference in the end ....
He never refers only to himself....he says "we put money in the bank,......" "we worked hard". I think when people achieve so much, they sure become humble. Nice to see how humble Phelps is.
I think It's less about being humble and more about team work , Olympics n all is big deal and u need people with right knowledge and best routine that can help u become the best , there's whole team that helped him.. that's why "we".
that's what I noticed too. He is a great speaker. Is this a natural skill or what? English is not my mother tongue, and I speak 4 languages but I can't speak like him in neither languages.
Every single person you see do this is a writer + big reader. Writing makes you condense your thoughts, so you become better at articulating them like this. Every podcast that has great answers is information from their books.
Emotional stability/ maturity is a must I believe! Even if you are super talented and hard working, but if you can not control your emotions at the right time, you will eventually lose!
People said it wasn't possible for me to waste a decade of my life binging Netflix, RU-vid, and video games, but I proved them wrong. Give up your dreams to accomplish great things.
The greats also know when to stop doing, to avoid overdoing or overexerting oneself. I think my biggest setbacks and failures have come from not being able to recognize when enough is enough, and when I need to rest. Also, pinpointing reasons for health/sleep issues is key - in my case food intolerances almost ruined my life.
Nope, dreaming big is the killer of achieving big things. If you think small and just focus on improving yourself by 1% percent a day then you won't have any expectations. You won't even notice your improvements until you really think about what you've done Don't dream big, live it
@@adrianma2758 Dreaming big is kind of like a destination, if you are doing small things, you will lose clarity of purpose and lose focus and willpower and end up not doing small things altogether...
Whoa. Loved this and then when he said about Biggie's Sky's the Limit song I just had a flashback to listening to it after playing my first proper team basketball game(despite being scared as hell) and loved it. Then came home and listened to that exact Biggie song on my Walkman(need I mention the decade🤭). Classic times.
Having a natural talent is a lot to do with him winning 8 golds. Every acoplished person says work hard but talent and luck is a big part of being on the top along with working hard.
I agree with you, but having natural talent does not trump his hard work over the years leading up to the Olympics, plus most of those swimmers competing with him also have their share of natural talent that made them reach the Olympics (otherwise they wouldn't get a chance to be there in the first place). But then as you said luck as being the right person in the right place does make a change, I believe that's why we all must strike to pick the field (sports or otherwise) that best suits our ability and talent ,,✌️.
Warren buffet, Jeff bezos, Elon musk, bill gates, some of the people that said they ‘tap dance’ their way to work every day. So liking what you do is also important. And pursuing what you have a natural skill for. It’s not all just discipline and hard work.
"The greats do things when they don't always want to." Not necessarily, normal people go to work when they don't always want to, just so that they can consistently put food on the table for their family. Now these are the silent heroes of the world that their kids ought to look up to and respect.
You did not understand what he meant. Phelps was pushing his personal limits EVERY day of his training. I sincerely doubt normal people do that by putting up with ratty bosses for the sake of a mortgage payment.
Here I declare that I will sacrifice my everything to achieve my goal. My goal is being the best ever of myself. I will edit it after 1 month. Edited:- I'm giving my best
It's not always someone translating. It's usually a speech translation software nowadays. Funny, I watched the comments wondering if anyone else caught that too...
I could have written the subtitles. I wasn't sure why he used a paradox by saying, " I'm the biggest, smallest fan." But I now realize he said Biggie Smalls. Or mebbe the world's biggest midget, or the smallest giant. What about, It's the same difference. It's starting to stop raining. Um, yeah... nevermind.
