You can always find a faster shredding guitarist -- but so frickin' what! For inventiveness, expression, and sheer fun, Michael Schenker is unmatched. When I am in a creative slump, I listen to his stuff for inspiration. I recommend him to all of my guitar students.
Thanks Michael for almost 50 years of unbelievable guitar playing, alien talent! Check out all the Rock bottom audio and video existing since 1973 and you'll never find two identical versions of that signature solo, always different, always a jaw dropping performance! Long live Maestro Schenker, the one and only God of Flying V🤘🤘
I am honestly not sure anyone in the world can do what Michael is doing right now, regardless of age. What he is doing right now in terms of tone, creativity, and emotional is just incredible.
Schenker is unmatched when it comes to melody and fluidity put together, and that solo just makes you break out into a sweat! 😅 You could play it on repeat for hours and not get bored! 🎸🎶💥
I once had a black velvet jacket, with a silver and black MSG patch on the breast pocket (like a school blazer...), obtained from a concert of MSG that I attended back in the day (early 80's). I wore this jacket to visit my uncle (himself visiting from Australia...). He asked me what the patch meant. . I said that the patch represents - ''Michael's School of Guitar '' He still remains one of my largest influences on guitar technique, his precision and melodic nuances were perfect, certainly to me at the time. One of Rock's greatest legends by far.
ive loved michael schenker since 1977, ive been a guitarist since 1974, and Schenker is a great example of a man who has kept his sights firmly on his mission, and regardless of what life has thrown at him, has continued to be an amazing guitarist, every time he plays rock bottom , he injects something new into it, all the great albums from the 70's and until now , i dont think a better 61 yr old rock guitarist exists !!!! a treasure
There ought to be a law. When one of the greatest guitar players ever is playing one of the best guitar solos ever the camera should only be pointed to the guitar player and not the keyboardists hair.
his sound is just awesome..take note modern guitarists, it aint about detuned distortion all the time...and he looks great in leather at 63!!! how??? brilliant solo.....
I know... that clearly, in today's world, there are shredders that are light-years faster than Michael. But not back in the day. And regardless, Michael's phrasing is unmatched to this day! His vertical technique is still undiscovered. He's not my favorite guitarist... but in my opinion, overall, the greatest, electric, lead-guitarist of all-time. His leads are fucking STRAIGHT SUGAR !!!
Miss Phil Moog's vocals...never the same without, but MS shreds to rock heaven here...also Andy Parker's drums...he fit that band so perfectly...Herman has a similar style, but Andy laid a rock groove a guitar player can just glide over...
seen him sing with Schenker live - when he doesn’t know the words he slurs something vaguely close to songs that every UFO, Scorps and MSG fans know inside out
The One & Only, Inimitable Francis Buchholz on Bass .. one of the early Bassists for the Scorpions .. Writer of amazing bass lines like Yellow Raven, Longing for Fire, Crying Days, and so many more 🤘
Great song and, well Michael need I say more... I wonder how many times he say performed this song live, hell I wonder how many times I have listened since Phenomenon.... Is that Fancies Buchholz on bass from the Scorpions?
This is an excellent version no doubt, but, even MS himself could and can, not equal or duplicate the monstrous, the phenomenal version when he played that night at the Chicago Amphitheater and that it was recorder for posterity in the 1979 album 'Strangers in The Night'. Michael Schenker, and the rest of the band, were at the apex of their career at that time.
@@yellowlightingbolt its the very reason he quit ufo. he was so upset at how "thin" his lead break sounded. ( theres an interview with paul raymond here on youtube, that explanation is straight from pauls mouth)
singer bites.....Herman has just been around since the ancients and Francis well hes not bad......Michaels kickn ass....should team up with some better mates :)
Singer is horrible... Michael is awesome as usual. I saw ufo several times in the seventies in San Antonio. They would come with Judas Priest and Rush. Those were the days.
@@robertwhitcomb6105 If I was a guitarist wanting to be the main focus of the band which I happen to be the founder of, I'd hire an average singer that will take minimal attention from me.
