Michael can be quite an extreme guy and thats only because he's very disappointed with people in General hes had his sheer with evil experiences with people in life hes burned so many times that's why he really likes to share and relate those experiences with people.

Bernd Hegner was the second lead singer but he didn't record with the band. Rudolf was the first lead singer and is the only original band member. Klaus came after Bernd.
@@swinetrek Thanks for the feedback. Their first studio album Lonesome Crow in 1972 had Klaus and Rudolf so they are the "original" band members if you define it that way. What happened prior to the first recording is just minutia in my opinion. Even if the point is granted, Rudolf is still there, which still makes Michael's statement untrue. Michael is reaching. Roam Inn - At long last, a voice of reason! I’ve been saying the same for at least four years. Scorpions so-called “50th Anniversary” was a bullshit marketing ploy dreamed up by their manager. Sure, Rudolf had a band called Scorpions in 1965, but they played high school dances for crying out loud and Rudolf is the only member anyone really knows of. Traditionally, the year of origin for a band is the year in which their debut recording was released to the public. In Scorpions’ case, that’s 1972. Their true 50th anniversary is in 2022.

@@crusheverything4449 Michael was famous and toured the US with UFO in 1976-77... way before the Scorpions had made their mark. The Scorpions didn’t tour the US until 82-83. Rudolf stole Michael’s image (black & white Flying V and dyed blond hair) in order to give the Scorpions name recognition. Michael did the whole Lovedrive album (to help them out)... the Scorpions wrote Michael out and removed photos and writing credits, etc...
@@c.k.185 - You are misinformed as to the actual facts. Just because Michael “made it” in the music business before Rudolf doesn’t mean Rudolf never helped Michael or that he ripped Michael off. I’m 57 and followed Michael’s career since UFO’s Phenomenon came out in 1974. Scorpions and UFO are my two favorite bands and I have interviewed and spent time with several members of both bands over the years. Michael Schenker suffered from severe stage fright for most of his career until around 2008. For more than three decades he struggled with alcoholism and Rudolf was there to help him every step of the way. Michael would fall off the wagon and disappear in the middle of UFO tours, which is the main reason that band isn’t bigger in America. For many years, Michael credited Rudolf with saving his life on more than a couple occasions. He praised Rudolf as his mentor and said he wouldn’t be here if not for his big brother. For the past five years or so, Michael has been saying that Scorpions owe their success in America to him, but Scorpions were poised to break through in the U.S. regardless of Michael’s involvement in the Lovedrive album. They had built up a sizable fanbase in Europe and Japan for five years with Uli Jon Roth (then known as Ulrich) and in 1978, their contract with RCA Records in the U.S. was coming to an end, which spawned a bidding war among every major label in America for Scorpions. The band signed with Mercury on the strength of their previous record and ticket sales and without regard to Michael Schenker. He was asked to come in and play on the record and did so. His style is apparent on the album and knowledgable fans know what he is playing. The decision to leave his photo off the record had nothing whatsoever to do with Rudolf or anyone in the band - it was a marketing department decision. As for songwriting credits, Michael was still under contract with other entities and his name was omitted from writing credits for legal reasons. It was not removed, as you stated - it was never there to begin with. Further, and in his own words, Michael “gave Rudolf the publishing rights” to Coast to Coast, at Rudolf’s request. Michael obviously came to regret that decision, but it was his; Rudolf didn’t steal anything. He also didn’t “steal” Michael’s guitar or image. Rudolf was the first to own a Flying V. The brothers were playing and Michael broke a string on his Les Paul and quickly switched guitars with Rudolf, so Michael could play the lead break. Michael fell in love with the guitar and in his words, “refused to give it back” to Rudolf. Rudy is on record stating that Michael bought the guitar from him and Rudolf purchased another V. Before Michael put together what became the McAuley Schenker Group, Rudolf financed auditions and rehearsals which took place at his home, where the musicians were staying. Michael was in rough shape with his addiction problems at the time. Rudolf was there, as always, to help him. Michael always stated that he hated the business side of the music business and paid little attention to his finances. That is one reason he wanted a partnership and chose Robin McAuley and shared the billing in the new MSG. He wanted someone else to help bear all that responsibility. Rudolf and Michael struck an agreement for Rudolf to recoup his expenses for the auditions and rehearsals for the formation of the McAuley Schenker version of MSG. Fast forward to 2015 and the reissuing of much of Scorpions’ catalog for their so-called 50th Anniversary (which is technically inaccurate, as the band released their first record in 1972, which is the standard marker for a band’s official first year, but was proposed by Scorpions’ manager, Peter Amend, as a marketing angle. Rudolf first had a band called Scorpions in 1965, but with none of the other members who went on to fame with the band). Michael was incensed at his name and photo being left off the Lovedrive reissue, claiming he was a full member of the band at that time. He never said a word about that in 1979 when the record was first released, nor did he complain about credits or publishing rights back then, which is telling. Michael went out on the Lovedrive tour, which began in Europe, but left abruptly inside of two weeks to start his own band, The Michael Schenker Group, as he felt he didn’t want to play other peoples’ songs. (Scorpions’ first U.S. tour was not in ‘82-‘83, as you stated - it was in 1979 with Mathias Jabs on lead guitar.) Michael shows classic signs of alcoholic behavior and blames everyone else for missteps and mistakes he made in the past. He thinks that because he’s sober now, he can see more clearly, but I doubt he can remember much of what happened forty some years ago when he was out of his head much of that time and was never interested in the business end to begin with. Granted, he was ripped off by many industry people over the years, including his children’s mother, who was his manager in the 90s, so he figures his brother must have done it, too. Rudolf has always been much more savvy with and involved in the business side of things, including pertaining to Michael’s situation, than even Michael himself. I have it on good authority that Rudolf was supporting Michael’s children financially at one point, due to Michael falling off the wagon. So much for gratitude, I guess. Michael had to move out of the States because there was a warrant for his arrest for back child support. I believe Michael is misguided in his anger toward Rudolf, who I feel has always had his younger brother’s best interests at heart. It seems Michael is jealous of Rudolf’s success and wealth and feels it’s not justified, as Michael is by far the better guitarist. The thing is, Rudolf wrote many big selling songs with Michael nowhere in sight, such as No One Like You, Rock You Like A Hurricane and Still Loving You, the latter of which sold two million copies in France alone! Michael has never had a hit anywhere near that magnitude. The bottom line is Michael is to blame for his own lack of wealth and mainstream success/fame. He ran from the spotlight for years and sabotaged his own success in the process. Michael has left paying fans standing in front of a stage many times and has never apologized or offered to play a make-up show. Rudolf has never done anything like that and is a consummate professional. Michael claims all he ever cared about was making music and he didn’t chase fame or fortune, but if that’s true, what is he so angry about? He claims Rudolf stole his image, implying that Rudolf was basically posing as Michael, which is ridiculous when you consider that Michael was not known in the mainstream. The average rock fan didn’t know him from Adam, so what would Rudolf actually have been stealing by copying his look? It doesn’t make sense. Anyone who knew who Michael was would’ve realized Rudolf was not Michael, especially when they heard Rudolf play guitar. Perhaps I see the situation a bit differently because I have a kid brother who is an alcoholic and drug addict who blames me for his screwed-up life, when all I ever did was help him out and try to save him from himself. He takes credit for my accomplishments and blames me for his failures. I have friends with similar family dynamics, who understand completely. It’s my hope that Michael and Rudolf can iron out their differences and possibly make that Schenker Brothers record Michael used to talk about. As it stands now, Michael continues to air his grievances in public and Rudolf has largely kept it to himself until very recently, after years of Michael slagging his character and reputation every chance he got, including from the stage. Rudolf finally explained the situation with recouping money he spent to help Michael out when he needed it and Rudy always says, “I love my brother.” That, to me, speaks volumes about character. I feel that what I’ve written here makes perfect sense. You may feel differently and that’s your prerogative.
@@crusheverything4449 Well, I stand corrected... no offense intended. I’m a fan of both Michael and the Scorpions too. I’m 50 and have listened to them both since the mid 70’s. I have no doubt Michael has his demons and his own take on reality too. I’m well aware of his previous stage fright issues and lack of professional integrity on several occasions (due to substance abuse, pressure, etc) I’m also absolutely certain that Rudolf is a good guy too. I recently listened to a 2019 interview with Michael that piqued my interest however. He never talked any crap about Rudolph. He just addressed his perspective on this subject that we’re engaged in. I wasn’t totally buying his uncredited Lovedrive argument (he stated he was unaware he was uncredited until 2015 😏👌) but seriously got the impression that his business acumen was severely flawed. I did agree with his perspective that he was more popular in the US that the Scorpions in the mid-late 70’s and that the Scorpions piggybacked on the name recognition to get the ball rolling for them in the US. He didn’t say it in a derogatory way. It was more like a smart business move on their part, and he was in agreement with it. Maybe I colored my previous statement in Michael’s favor when it came to the dyed hair and Flying V. It did make sense to me though... I was around back then too and saw it for myself. He's really deep thought and analyzed his different stages of his life. His explanation flows smoothly, though for many years I feel it was a confusing and painful mystery mixed with good moments in between. Older age = wisdom and the ability to understand ones purpose and past/present journey. He must be kind though when discussing others or it comes across as negative resentment that he hasn't fully forgiven.

I have news for Michael: Michael Schenker is also a brand name. What a shame to see such a talented artist wallow in bitter self-pity this way, not to mention slagging off his brother, who, for decades, Michael credited with not only being his mentor, but actually saving his life! Michael is a recovering alcoholic and I wish him the best, but I don’t trust his memory about events from over forty years ago, during which he was out of his mind on booze and whatever else half the time. Schenker got fucked over by Rudolf because of "Scorpions - Lovedrive" album from 1979. Schenker made most of the album and Rudolf made sure he didn't get credit for it. This is the only problem he have with Rudolf.
If its a Michael Schenker Album with his Friends /Musicians then it will be a good record.However part of the fun of the thing is listening to the man explain what he does and does in a superlative manner.Cheers man!
Mike should complete the circle by doing a quiet, possible acoustic CD with Phil moog. Maybe in the vein of the song high flyer, try me, quieter songs that are emotional moving from say phenomenon and obsession mindet. Songs that allow Phil to not strain his voice. Personally, I don't like the way he sings today. But something where it just focuses on his warm, sentimental, emotional tone would suffice. Also..mike could go back to longer, moving solos without worry of it sounding progressive, but more vintage. Just a thought for two people that produced great songs together. Their first two reunited UFO CDs were likely their best stuff.
While Rudolph near his 70 is a man ‘in tune’ with life and rock, his brother in his 60’s is still complaining like a teenager. I really love his guitar solos, but all my respect and admiration goes to Rudolph as musician and human being and most the same about Klaus and Mathias.

That’s a cliché, most of both Uli’s and MSG fans say it; but after more than 40 years of solo carrier, Uli goes back to play “Scorpions Revisited” (2015); Hermann & Friends release “Acoustic Fever” (2013) (with 13 Scorpions songs) and Michael joins Hermann and Francis to play “Rock you Like a Hurricane” (live DVD 2016). So, who is in the shadow of whom?

No, I’m not talking about guitar skills, check my posts. I’m talking about ‘being in tune with life’. That’s why I respect Rudolf, because he has built the Scorpions as a long lasting family: ‘This is a Family reunion’ (Wacken 2006). Actually, ‘Resurrection’ is kind of a family reunion too.

I’ve always been a massive schenker fan but I don’t know what’s going on with Michael with the scorpions thing.Who didn’t know that he appeared on lovedrive and wrote songs?He was always credited on the sleeve,I don’t know where he gets that he wasn’t. I also remember him being interviewed somewhere in the 80s and saying that he actually wrote and played on five of the songs rather than the three credited but he wasn’t sure which ones himself as it was just all of them together and he couldn’t really remember who did what. Whether or not he should be credited for more on lovedrive the scorpions subsequently wrote some all time classics and were a watchword for professional performance.Their sound checks would be tighter than most bands gigs.Let it go Michael.What’s important to them doesnt have to be whats important to you.Everyone has their own path
Michael contributed a lot to open American market to Scorpions, when he participated to Lovedrive album in 1979, giving compositions to his brother Rudolph, but not being credited on the sleeve! Lovedrive is one the best Scorpions album, a landmark in their career. Michael felt dispossessed that time, he really thinks his participation on this album made the success of it and that the Scorps should have been more gratefull for it.

Scorpions always have and still are more popular. MS is good but IMO Uli is better. That being said, I have a couple of his Cds. Alot more scorpions cds. Michael didn't make the Sorpions, the Scorpions made him.

Michael was right....He left as Scorpions were on their way to formula rock, like Def Leppard and Motely crue and even Bon Jovi. Yes, they got their riches in fame and fortune.....but about creating pure honesty music...they sold their soul. Michael, at this moment in time....remains more important and relevant than Scorpions.
