MICHAEL SPYRES singing the aria "Tu vedrai la sventurata" from Vincenzo Bellini's opera IL PIRATA. Recorded in February 2019 www.fischerarti... www.michaelspyr...
I love that Michael is from my current hometown. He comes here frequently to perform, despite the small and relatively unimportant stature of the town.
It is quite surprising that Il Pirata is not known at all. I had the pleasure to see this performance. Everything was outstanding. Amazing singers as well as an excellent Geneva orchestra; even the French horns did a very good job!
@@karlheinzkirchmann6469 from watching a lot of videos of him talking about his journey with his voice, most of the work he did figuring out his tenor range came after he was done with school. He talks about how became a bit of a voice scientist, obsessed with the technical aspect of how the voice works, to figure out how to fully unlock the tenor range on top of his natural baritone. His voice is kind of a miracle because his career is proof that the human voice is capable of so much more than what even the most skilled opera singer typically will use. I personally feel that it also goes to show that the modern classification system we use, in a lot of ways, unnecessarily limits people and forces us into a box. It didn't used to be this way. Singers used to be a lot more free to use the full capability of their voice.
Glorious ~ hearing his voice recently in the Wien Staatsoper was a treat and joy - so warm, rich and expertly produced - Bravissimo!! Can't wait to see his Pirata in Paris later this year.
I am waiting for him singing « le postillon de Long jumeau ».Superb voice and interpretation.I remember with emotion his DonJose in Paris in tce with M’N. Lemieux, he touched me a lot and it was my 5th Carmen.I hope to go to Bastille to hear him in this opera with Radvanovski. I cross France, Other countries to hear him’, unfortunately still now in San Francisco, we are not very lucky🌗
I am jealous that you heard him live. The impression I get is that his voice is more sizeable than other Rossini tenors plus he has all these strong low notes you never hear from this type of tenor.
Helmut Fischer Many of his clips seemed to me to involve almost pick-up forces. Improvisatory surroundings, bad playing and conducting, and most strangely, what sounded like small and distinctly tepid audiences.
It's a pity how little music is valued today, that singers have to take on all jobs they get to be able to survive. There's no chance we can learn all that by heart, because performing is the smallest, yet the only visible part of our lives.
Comunque bravo.
