Harry was my best friend long before he even knew I existed. As a young boy of 14, his books inspired me to dream BIG.
He became my friend and my hero.
I love you Harry, thank you from the bottom of my ♥️.

Thank you so much for posting this video. I never met Harry but The Magic Book changed my life, literally. I was an adult and one summer by chance found his book in the local library. I checked it out and kept renewing till I finished reading it. Soon I started showing people tricks. I was invited to do a few shows. And after a while was being paid. Some time later I was laid off from job and I started full time. It was an amazing 26 year run. It ALL started with Harry’s book. Again Thank you.

Beautiful tribute to Harry Lorayne and superbly delivered Michael. I've written on a particular Magic forum that in my honest opinion, the title of Harry's 'THE' Magic Book, could not be more fitting. My Father bought my copy from Ken Brooke in 1978 for my Christmas present. Ken raved about it; a great recommendation from another great man. To this day, I absolutely adore it. Not just for the superb quality of written instruction, tricks and sleights contained within; but perhaps even more importantly, for the words of advice about 'routining' particular effects. It also fuelled my passion for working with everyday objects; particularly coins (as well as cards). Many thanks for taking the time to produce and share another excellent broadcast for us all to enjoy.

It’s bizarre. Unusual. Uncanny. They from 14 to 35 you were able to rub shoulders with 20+ Legends and actually study with half of them. Who does that ? Only a few. I traveled with Cellini in 1983. We worked Manhattan them met up with him In San Francisco. He died a sad life with terrible health issues. I also spent 3-4 private lessons with single and mastered his quick three way. I watch your videos nightly Michael. You touch me, and millions more. You’re as good as it gets a master you’re considered Thank you for your world contribution to the arts, to mankind and for being a teacher too. We love you MV.

Good morning my friend! I am also a coffee man and it’s so nice to wake up and start my day with cards and coffee and Michaels latest video❤️ I have to start off by giving love to that close up pad! The logo design is awesome! I would love to see one day the Michael Vincent signature deck with that logo. I was introduced to Harry Loraynes teachings and books thru Michaels talks and mentions. I have heard the name before and seen a short video here and there but after hearing Michaels talks on Harry’s books is when I decided to get Harry’s book. I have been in magic awhile and learned a lot already and I wish I read Harry’s book first. And I couldn’t agree more how it reads like you have a friend in your room talking with you. And I have to mention thank God for books and DVDs and downloads. Thank God newer Magicians and card men still have a chance to watch and learn from the old masters and teachers. One of my favorite things is to see a young magician performing an old routine they just read about in a book or learned from a dvd. And lastly WOW what a routine! This is a great privilege as an audience to have these performances available at our fingertips. Beautiful handling and I love the kicker ending! Friends please show your love and support and share these videos. I would love for a young person to come across these videos and become inspired to become a magician and to also inspire other magicians to continue their journey and seek out all the older masters and teachers. Thank you Michael. These videos are beautiful. My love to you and your mother Ricky Blevins

Hello Michael. I've been doing card magic for 15 years and I've known for a very long time that there is a magician like Harry Lorayne. For about 3-4 years I promised myself that I must have at least one of his books, but I could never materialize it, I just always put it off. And just before Christmas something haunted me so much that I had to finally order his book and I did. I ordered his "The Magic Book". You won't believe, two days later I found out (from you on instagram) that Harry had passed away. I ordered the book on the exact day he died, which was Friday. I ordered it online, now as I write I have it in front of me, pzdr.

It feels very good listening and watching you throughout the stories and magical trick moments. Thank you very much for that. I admit, I always search for holes in tricks, so I can get a sense of how its done but to be honest, I can't figure out 9/10 of your magic. Respect to you Michael and thank you for doing these videos!

I bought his book, "how to develop a super power memory" during the summer between graduating from grammar school and starting high school. I had also just taken a speed reading course which increased my reading speed 6 times faster. These 2 things helped me to earn more than half of all combined scholarship offers for my high school class. i have used those techniques all though my life and astounded people with my ability to remember complex engineering system details. I actually feel like I'm cheating, because I don't think I have any special ability, I just use Harry's technique.

Michael, nicely performed and a great choice from Harry's oeuvre. I wholeheartedly agree with your description of Harry's writing style. I felt that "Close-Up Card Magic" was almost like receiving private instruction from him. I learned to do faros from that book and I perform several of the effects from the book to this day. I even went so far as to procure the March '63 issue of "The Linking Ring" in which Harry presented an award-winning parade of faro effects. Like you, I felt I knew him personally.

It's beautiful to see the way you talk about Harry Lorayne, I can clearly see the impact he had in your life. The interesting thing about the magic book, and that you mentioned in another video, is that Harry makes a warning in the beginning, that's not a puzzle book we have to put the work in so we can get anything out of it. And that's an important lesson to keep in mind. The routines you made are simply fantastic, loved both of them. I hope you and your mom have an excellent Monday.

What a beautiful & moving tribute to Harry. He would be so honored & proud of your awesome magic in his honor. The story about Old Man Stevens was so cool! Not only are you a fantastic magician but you are one fabulous storyteller. I was totally drawn in by the story & then BAM you go & do some spectacular magic. If you keep this up I might just get spoiled & think all my days will have to start with stories, coffee, Mom (ha ha) & most definitely magic! Awesome! Marvelous! Fantastic!

Another wonderful video Michael and thanks for sharing two great routines. Your statement on friendship to Harry from through the page was a nice one. I so enjoy The Magic Book even today and you are very right, it’s a gem of a book. I recall you speaking highly of it in another book recommendations video which also included non-magic books, of which I’ve found helpful too. Harry teaching the fundamentals of cards and coins in that book are great and what I really enjoyed, along with his selection of very solid effects to put what I learned into practice. It really contains some wonderful starter versions for many of the classic tricks and plots in close-up magic, some more clear and effective than the countless and sometimes weaker variations that have cropped up over time.

I have heard a number of magicians saying bad things about Harry, probably because his handling of a deck of cards is quite sloppy or because they think he stole a lot of material, so I studied his books only later in my magic life ('Amateur Magician's Handbook' by Henry Hay having been my learning base). Now I can surely adfirm that Harry Lorayne is the best teacher in magic, along with, but better than, Lewis Ganson.

Thanks for posting this video mike! Great start to the week. A great tribute to Harry Lorayne. I’ve always been a book person. Especially magic books. I was late into getting into Harry Lorayne though. Though over the years I heard his name mentioned many times , so was always aware of him. Love story type effects, the cardician and the gamblers is a great story effect. ( or is it the magician and the gamblers ) . Over many years I noticed the skills you learn from magic books can spill over into other areas of your life. Such as psychological, memory building, and problem solving.,and confidence building are all skills than can be used in every day life. ( oh, and sleight of hand as well, in many ways....)

Hi Michael What a wonderful video. I am 63 years old and have been doing magic since I was 16. Hopefully I have all of Harry Lorayne's books, including his Apocalypse, from Harry Lorayne, whom I got to know in 1980 at a magic congress in Munich. May I ask which book is the routine you showed in? I have dealt with the topic again and again and have been using "magician versus gamblers" from Harry's "personal secrets" for many years, as the migration of cards into my pockets is incredibly magical and, compared to other routines, ingeniously simple is resolved. Thank you very much for your answer, and yes, I love your magic. Your Magic Castle video is great. with magical greetings from Switzerland André

This routine is based on Dai Vernon’s Cutting The Aces from Stars of Magic. Harry’s version as seen in the video introduces the four kings and a wonderful story/narrative. Full handling and details to be found in his book...REPUTATION MAKERS. Good luck, this routine can be performed at any time with any shuffled deck in use.
