One of the most atmospheric soundtracks of all time. It adds so much to the game. The game wouldn't be half as good with a lesser soundtrack. That's not a snipe at the game itself (which I adore) but rather to highlight just how instrumental (no pun intended) the soundtrack is to the overall experience; a bit like John Williams and Star Wars.
I interviewed Michael Land back in 2005 for the 10th anniversary of the Dig and most recently for Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis & Monkey Island 2. (Along with Clint Bajakian and Peter McConnell). It was great to chat with these pioneers of video game music. A reissue and expansion of the Angel records release of the Dig would be awesome. It is one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. I cherish the copy I found in a Toronto music store many years ago.
This soundtrack has always been my favorite. I would love an interview with Michael Land. He is such an iconic musician but there is nothing at all about him online. An odd interview here and there from years ago but that is it. I'd love to hear about his experiences with Lucasarts and mostly the process of making this soundtrack.
One of my favorites! This made me a Michael Land fan. Bought the CD when it was released. Curse of Monkey Island came out 2 years after this and is also amazing work from Mr. Land.
All of the tracks are special, but that first one is extra special :) It's from the intro of the game! Go play the first 10 minutes of the game and if you're not hooked after those 10 minutes, you'll get your money back ;)
God this is such a good soundtrack! I guess it better be, considering Spielberg's involvement and its history starting as a plot for an episode of Amazing Stories. It just really fantastic; thanks for uploading it in such great quality, Paul!
I've been playing video games since about the same time as I graduated from 'toddling' to 'walking'. I couldn't wrap my head around actually ordering games (that's an excuse for the fact that I couldn't help spending my allowance on junk food), so I only played the "shareware" version of the original Doom. I didn't like all games, and point-and-click adventures were about at the bottom of my list. I'm not really sure what got me playing this particular game in the first place and I'll be honest, I didn't really like it. I almost had a mental breakdown at the stupid turtle bone puzzle. But I couldn't stop playing it because of the music. Honestly, music is crucial to video games. A good soundtrack can help me enjoy a game with some issues _[cough]Starfield[cough]_ and a bad one can make me hate a game I really should've loved (I can't think of an example because I'm more likely to forget things I don't like.)
Already interviewed Michael Land a few weeks ago. I'm currently editing the interview and it will premiere in December. Furthermore, I plan to interview Clint Bajakian in a few weeks.
