A year ago, I purchased some new tires for my FJ Cruiser - the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires. 10,000 miles later, here's what I think of them.

People who know and see them on your truck know you made the right choice. Best truck tire out there. Unless you need a real AT tire then you might as well just get a load E or aggressive AT /MT and live with the trade offs. I’ve not had another better set of truck tires in years. Multiple others have failed to provide the balance of what the LTX Ms gives you.

Thanks for the reassurance. These tires have been great.

For most people, these will be great truck tires. I OCCASIONALLY get on difficult terrain, more often than not I just deal with snow on paved surfaces, and this tire performs fine. No they're not "winter tires", but they perform almost as well. I personally have never put winter tires on any vehicle I've owned, and I've gotten by just fine. The only exception for me would be for a 2wd pickup, you would definitely want to consider winter/snow tires.

Agreed, whereabouts do you live? Winter tires may be more of a necessity, depending on where you live and snow conditions

@@LiL13izzy7 I live in MN. Snow tires would help, but I’ve gotten by without them. This winter was crazy, almost no snow.

i think your right I do more highway driving in my SR5 4runner & they are great. I got the 10ply E ones , had um on some sand, dirt roads, rain , they're good tires ,, their not rock climbers or mudder's for aggressive off roading but an extra MPG or 2 from not having some KO2's is worth it to me. 16 city & 22 highway. the highway is where they shine at

that view at 1:05 wow and I have skied in Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. Maybe one day I'll make it up to Mammoth. I agree with you about those Michelins. That's just the type of tires I will put on our FJ. I prefer quiet, good stopping distance, and wet traction over looks. Plus, I have a $400 set of chains if the snow is deep. Arizona.

Definitely try to make it it mammoth! There last 2 years have yielded tons of powdery snow. The chains are good to have!

Smart family conscious consumer. I often wonder what could be the thinking behind all of these vehicles looking like cartoons SPEEDING down the roadways. Nothing good to become of it. Stay smart!

Have had these for 3 years and will be buying the MS2's which are the newer releases... Cant say enough good things about this tire and and Michelin in general.. I always used to buy the cheapest tires and wondered why id be going through tires so much. Way worth every cent..

How’s mpg?

About the same as my previous set of tires (Kumho AT51), which was around 18 mpg or so. Given the FJ's 19 gallon tank, and the fact that the light comes on with about 4 gallons remaining till empty (15 gallons used), I divide 270 (which is about the most I can squeeze out before the light comes on) by 15 gallons, giving me 18.

These tires are also not for broke people. I paid $1400 for all 4 on my 2017 RAM truck

True dat. I just paid $1300 for a set of pizza cutters (255/75/17) for my 4runner. Drives like a dream now that the stock Dunlop AT20s are gone.

Yikes where did you purchase them from? Voltech Auto in Northern VA has the LTX MS2 for around $1,160 (275/60R20)
