Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Review | Still The Best Sportbike Tire?

The motorcycle community has loved the Michelin 2CT tires for a decade now. I decided to rock a set this past year and give my thoughts on the Pilot Power 2CTs and they did not disappoint. The amount of flex the tire would provide would give amazing drives coming out of corners, and even at the end of the season after 6k miles put on them they still had life left.

Thanks from Brazil, I’m going to try this on my MT-09. I was undecided because I’ve used the Rosso 3 and really liked it, but now I’m going to test this one.

Fala irmão. Não vai se arrepender. Melhor custo benefício do mercado.

Think I’m on my 3rd set of 2cts; really inspires confidence and the price isn’t crazy. I try not to ride in the rain, so that doesn’t matter to me. Mine is currently in the shop getting a fresh set mounted:)

Ran these on my ZX7R and ZX10R back from 05 to 09... Absolutely love them.. Worked great on the street and track days as well. And rainy track days.. I had no issues in the advanced groups. Even though there are newer and 'better'... I'm putting these on my current bike soon.

I'm replacing my Power RS tires to this since it was discontinued prices for the other Michelins are highly priced right now 400-500 range where the 2ct is just a little over 300+ hoping it would be somewhat similar on feel and input on the road.

Yes more a street focused tire then track. It is something that you can do a track day on but not the best option for track use. If you ride in an advanced group I would stick with the Power 5 or something better.

Will always be a pilot power 2ct fan. Still the best tire! I’ve been on Diablo rosso 4, and q3+ and those tires are unpredictable on cracked pavement and rougher surfaces. Indicative of their extremely stiff carcass, they also take longer to warm up on the street. The Pp 2ct’s are good to go! It’s like comparing a bias ply race tire to a radial race tire. Bias ply you can lean on and it will let you know when it’s getting close to maximum slip angle. A radial will feel good right to the point of losing traction. Hands down, 2ct is the best tire compared to all the new shit! That supple carcass handles the shit roads here in Florida very well.

Mt07 2022 owner here with power road 5 . Looking for better ones on grip , corners and ideally some grip on rain . Any suggestions ?
@akcycles
@akcycles 9 месяцев назад
If you have the Road 5 or Power 5 either one should be plenty for the MT07. Make sure to double check your tire pressures. Too high and they will not flex and grip like they should. I would run 32 front and 36 or 38 rear on the one I had a while back. The Road 5 or 6 would be the tire I would recommend if you want the best all around grip. The wet weather is the best and I loved them on my tracer 900. If you want mainly great dry grip that is still good for the occasional shower or commute home in the rain look into the Rosso 3 or 4. If you mainly have issues with the rear wheel stepping out under braking this is unfortunately an MT 07 and FZ07 probably because it does not have a slipper clutch. Abs does help which I think all 22 models have but it's still not perfect like the R7 is which has both abs and slipper. Running a low tire pressure in the rear like 36 helps but there are a lot of set up changes that can be made to help with this as well like brake pedal position and type of pads.

would you say these power ct 2 are gripper then the power 5? . thank you
@akcycles
@akcycles Год назад
The power 5 is supposed to have better grip but I honestly think they are very similar. The power 5 though has a stiffer structure so the stability is much better. Better for heavier bikes and high speeds and would be better on track than the pilot powers. Pilot powers are just a really good budget tire

@akcycles
@akcycles 2 месяца назад
Depends on how they have been stored. If they were in a temperature controlled environment the entire time you should have no issues. Also check the DOT stamp on them. Just because you had them for five years and stored correctly does not mean they were not old when they were given to you.

@akcycles
@akcycles Год назад
It will work but the Power 5 is a more stable tire. If you go with the Pilot Powers the feedback is very weird and you will feel the front end "move more" at high speeds at lean. I'm talking 120+ at lean. Also if you have an older gen R1 I wouldn't recommend it just because the weight of that bike and it carries it heavy on the front end which is not a pilot power strong suit. If you want to change things up and not spend as much as the power 5. Look into the Pirelli Rosso 3 or 4 👍

Please, do not promote missinformation. Either your riding level is very low or i don't know how can you present that a Michellin 2ct is a tyre recommended for hypersport bikes. That tyre is the most sketchy tyre Michelin ever produced. It is a budget tyre, not a performance tyre! Grip?! In what dream?! Ocasional track tyre?! In what dream?! This review is a joke!

Woah little buddy if you do your homework you'll find I'm not the only professional that was impressed with the pilot powers for being a budget tire. I don't just mean RevZillas sales pitches either lol Not everyone rides at the same level and for the average rider the 2cts work just fine for a supersport even the big boys.

Woah little buddy, you had me cracked up when you said you are a professional. You're funny as hell. May I ask in which category you are a professional?😂 Riding bikes?!If anyone can state that Michelin Power 2ct tyre is ridden on a 200hp motorcycle and offers street and track condition grip should just stick to riding only lawn mowers. Stop advicing people when you clearly have no idea what you are saying.

@fabiettodpful 11 месяцев назад
@@georgevasi2034 tecnically in 2010 when the 2ct were the latest sport tyres people use to run them on liter bikes happily so i guess that the same phisic 's laws are still valid and the tyre might provide enough grip to be safe. Off course if i am searching a track focused tyre i am not buying a 2ct. I see sport bikes with sport touring tyres so i agree with you that 2cts are not the best, but for 90% of the road riders are enough and also the soft carcass helps with bumpy roads.
