I have the road 5’s right now, driven them in the wet nearly every day the last month. Been caught in completely torrential downpour a few times! Feel confident enough to ride them nearly normally. Only had them for about 2-3k miles so far but they’re such a marked improvement over the stock tires I had. Definitely don’t think I’ll get to 10k miles on them with all the rushed city commuting I do… great review mate watched the one you did on the 5s and started this one not knowing you were the same guy. Cheers

They are fantastic tyres aren't they? Glad you're having a good experience. I don't think I'll get 10k miles judging by the wear already but that may have a large amount to do with my happy throttle hand and riding in rally mode constantly! Haha! I hope you find my presentation and camera work is better now over that Road 5 vid! Thanks for watching

I've just done Scotland to Cornwall via the English/Welsh border on a pair of Road 6s, along the south coast to th New Forest and back via Yorkshire - in some horrendous wet, windy weather, as well as the dry - and on all roads. The tyres did. not. miss. a. beat. Excellent, confidence inspiring and O could not recommend them highly enough. 1500 miles in the last week, no squaring off at all. I also got a screw in the rear within the first 200 miles that needed plugged 😂

I had a Tracer 700 with the M road pilot (?) 5s on. They were the best tyres on any bike I've had. Not one moment, wet or dry. The Tracer was a bike that you could throw into bends too. Great in wet weather. I hope the 6s are just as good and not too much more to buy. I'll be getting them for my CB650R when the, v good, Metzellers, square off.

Subscribed because of the hilarious comment regarding the van and sweets. LOL!!!!!!!!!! I'll be picking up a set of the Road 6 GT for the R 1250 GS. The rear OEM Bridgestone A41 has 12,000 miles on it. For some reason the GS wears out the front tire faster. Getting about 6000 before the wear bar is close. Like you I ride in the rain. Riding a Crossrunner which is a bit heavy but a nice sport tour ride, it's had 4 different brands of tire on it, all with plus or minuses. Original scorpions were crap of course. Put on Angel GTs, steering became nice and light with quick transitions, great dry grip, average wet grip, average wear. Next was road 5s from Michelin, much heavier steering, better wet, longer wearing. Metz SE 01s next, lighter steering and great wet and dry. Except the center tread wears out very suddenly and unexpectedly, (rear tire 8k Kms) showing the cords even with moderate side tread remaining. Other commenters have said the same thing, alarmingly sudden lack of tire. Going to try the Road 6s next.

The Anakee Adventures were a very good tyre for having that 80/20 ability. Most people probably wouldnt be able to tell the difference between them and a normal 100% road tyre! These PR6s are a better road tyre and give you unquestionable grip all the time, but I never found the AA's slipping or moving in the wet. This was my experience too. Had power 5's on my zx10r and swapped to road 6's after riding my brothers fireblade which had them on and I can't tell a major difference between them. Maybe as you say slightly slower steering on road 6. But on the road the slower steering actually seems a lot nicer for the most part. I can't outride power 5's or the road 6's on the public road. 95% of my riding is just momentum riding anyways and I don't over speed but it's nice to know if the need ever came to increase pace you can basically ride like a madman and keep up with true hyper sport tyres on the road easily. That's not what I'm about but just for example as I don't race others on the road. These "sport touring" tyres are a real eye opener as they basically don't have any limitations. I now say anything grippier is a waste of time on the road so if they do last longer then it's a win win. Not quite sure the purpose of the power 5, It just seems to be a slight step toward hypersport tyres with lighter handling and small increase in grip. I get around 3000-3500 miles on power 5's so anything more than that on these road 6's and I'll be buying these from now on. If road 6's don't offer you enough grip on the road you are riding like an absolute lunatic and shouldn't be on the public roads.

Since you say the road 6's are the best sport touring on the market. How do they compare to the Metzeler Roadtec 01's, Bridgestone T32's, Dunlop Roadsmart 4's and Pirelli Angel GT 2's? What makes the Road 6 better then all of them?
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 2 года назад
All of the tyres you mentioned are very good, but the Road 6s offer the best wet grip I've experienced. They also offer the best longevity. Ive had 2 sets of road 5s which both lasted well over 10k miles, and the 6s offer 10% more claimed. The 2 decades of development definitely shows. Plus worth noting they come out top on pretty much every tyre comparisom test by basically all publication. And if not top, very high up the list. I've not tested all of those tyres on one bike back to back because I don't have the money or facilties for that but from my experience they are

Yes the road 6's are excellent on sportbikes and sport nakeds. I use them on an 08 ZX10R. You won't reach the limitations of grip on the public road with these tyres and will last longer than true hypersport tyres and not square off as easily.

That is on my bike though which is very good at tearing through tyres - on my Tracer 700, I got over 11k miles out of a rear Road 5, and the front was still fine. Have to respectfully disagree that your Michellin tyres are the best sports touring tyres on the market. Dunlop Roadsmart 4 would have to edge over the latest Michellins, from what I've heard. It's Dunlop Roadsmart 3 for me. Proven tyres that perform well in dry and wet conditions, and have long longevity. And they don't break the bank as well. I think the Michellins are overpriced as well. Next tyres for me will be the Roadsmart 4.

Will give them a try! Most of the Dunlops I've tried in the past have been a bit too slippy for my liking when it came to wet weather, and had a few people say the same so I avoided them when looking for a set. I agree the Michelins are pretty overpriced at the moment too. I tend to buy online and fit myself so can find the best deals

@@SamVBikes Oh well, see what happens. You need to go through those Road 6 tyres I guess firstly, before you get a new set of tyres. Apparently the Bridgestone T32 and the Avon Spirit ST are said to be impressive, but I don't have any experience of them. All I can say is, I'm very impressed so far with the Dunlop Roadsmart 3.

Good to know! I'll give them a blast. I don't think any tyre is going to last very long on this bike so I'll have chance to test them all 😂

@@SamVBikes No worries 👍 I'd suggest have a look at Mark from RidercamTV review of the Roadsmart 3. I based my choice on getting them based on his review on RU-vid. He was impressed

Is there a follow up on the anakee adventure ? do you think its better than the pirelli scorpion str ?

Not an official one but i mention it in the Road 6 vid I think it was. They are definitely more road focused than thr STR. Last about the same time on this bike (4k miles ish). I'd push to say the Anakee Advs are better for wet weather and less road noise, but it's very close between them
