I think this speech and Bill Clinton's were the best of the democratic convention. Guys.. can you imagine marrying a girl and later running for office, and you wife being able to deliver a speech like this? Its phenomenal. Hard to believe, even. She hit a grand slam with this speech, earned my respect.
"you treat people with dignity and respect even if you dont know them... even if you dont agree with them." wow, very good words. i feel as if most americans dont follow this and they should learn from her, if not from me. because i preach this in my city as well, and i get called names.
ah! I started crying! What an eloquent, honest, beautiful person. She hit home with me especially when she spoke about the two views of America and life here. Do we settle for things the way they are and not strive for better? Or can we, as Americans, unite and go that extra mile towards a better, more fair, inspiring life in our country? I've often thought we settle for less because our leaders have doubted that we CAN be more than we are. Obama 2008
I think Biden hit it right on the money when he said "John McCain served our country and we owe him for that. But a good soldier doesn't always make a good president." Love Michelle, and Obama definitely has my support.
Whatever your politics it is amazing to have such an accomplished and inspiring woman a prospect for our next First Lady. If you missed it last night, take a 20 minute break and enjoy a great American story.
It was a beautiful speech from a beautiful lady. I too have MS. It's good to know that the future first Lady knows what a struggle it is. The girls were darling!
Bravo Michelle!! you are truly a classy Lady I admire your strenght your wisdom and the way you love your family. What a great speech I can see now why Barack Obama and you make such a strong & wonderful couple.
For some reason she sounds as though she's saying a spoken word poem, but she spoke well. Very well. It was Emotionally attatching and showed us that she's human.
There is a great video from CNN on RU-vid of Barack watching Michelle giving the speech on TV. He looks genuinely moved and proud. Reading Barack's book Dreams from my Father, I get the impression that maybe he keeps his emotions to himself somethimes, but for anyone who sees that video, it is a pretty cool reminder of his humanity. Many more will warm to Obama when they have a chance to empathise with that side of his character if they are given the opportunity.
Michelle You Rocked!! This was the best speech I have ever heard from a potential first lady. It made me proud to be an african american man with a little sister. You brought me hope that my little sister can grow into being a great woman just like you have done. God Bless The USA and God Bless the Obamas. Obama-Biden 08
The greatest thing about the Obamas is their excellent positive attitude. Something that we rarely see in the current administration. We're supposed to be afraid of everything and watching our backs. Why not make friends and create mutual bonds with others? It's all about the message, and following through with it.
inspiring. we all need to be lifted up. The country needs to come together. High expectations are set for both of them; i hope they can exceed them. My jazz musician teenager LOVES Obama and wishes he could vote!
Michelle gave an outstanding speech. She shows the qualities of a first lady.. She definitely makes us women)proud. Michelle and I share the same birth year- that makes me even prouder for our age group. It is not the age, it it the level of maturity. You got it happening for your family. Congrats soon to be America's First Lady,we know you are Barack's first lady. Good luck to you. I am doing my part from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. So all you Vincies reading this do get on board.
I started crying too! My mother did the same thing for me every day, even though she was in persistent pain and couldn't work. Not only was Michelle's message inspiring for this election, it motivated many of us to do our best and make a difference every day. I am consistently humbled by the Obama attitude and it's an absolute honor to support them, even as I live in another country. I've always thought 'wife' speeches were trite, but she was fantastic.
I'm a poet at a loss for words and that's almost impossible LOL! This speech is absolutely motivating and empowering. We NEED leaders with family values if we value OUR families. Michelle, you and your family are inspirations to us ALL. Regardless of the turn-out of this election (which I'm POSITIVE it's in the bag), the Obama's ARE the leaders of MY America!
God bless michelle obama and their children. I wish i could vote 1,000,000,000,000 times for this Man. Everytime i watch these, I cry, from hawaii to the White House, ooohhh So inspiring
My mother and I watched Mrs. Michelle Obama on Monday night and we both had tears streaming down our cheeks. I love this woman. She is phenomenal. I can see why Sen. Obama married her. She will make a sensational and historic 1st lady of this beautiful country of ours. God Bless America! OBAMA-BIDEN '08!
"The world, as it is, just won't do; We have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be!" I've always felt that personally, but hadn't articulated this feeling so succinctly. With Sen. Barak Obama and Sen. Joe Biden in the White House, we will finally have the kind of leadership required to bring about the world as it should be! These are the kind of leaders we deserve ... people we can be proud of. The Obama's WILL certainly raise the bar for future prez & 1st lady.
This speech was very awe-inspiring for me. I began to whelp up like many other people watching and had to really keep from crying. This speech hit home and touched on very important issues that many of us face today. I am inspired to stay strong and to not give up on my hopes, dreams, and desires; and that with hard work and dedication, all is possible. I am also inspired to be the best mother, sister, daughter, and person that I can be. I know Barack Obama will be our next President!
What a intelligent and sincere speech. So inspirational. I've never felt so positive and hopeful listening to a political speech. We may never see another candidate like Barack Obama in our lifetimes! Now is not the time to be apathetic, make sure you vote in November. It's not too late too register! Obama/Biden 08!
Thank you so much for this inspiring speech. I really enjoyed the DNC's LIVE HD stream. I also had to view it a few more times. You can watch the Full Screen HD videos here: demconvention . com Barack just e-mailed it also, embedded. Thanks again.
Beautiful. Im a long-winded person when inspired, but man, I'm speechless this time!... Well, now that I think a little bit, I guess I can say what renders that comment: Michelle's graceful oratory, the Obama girls' genuine love (its adorable to see them almost competing for a chance to say hello to their father), President Obama's witty appreciation for his wife, and the Democratic National Convention's ebbing passion in this historical journey. White House or BUST!
In the past 8 years in the US, hope has become a gift as opposed to a given. After Obama becomes President, we can realize ours gifts, once again. Thank God.
Five star speech. What I like about Obama is, while most people keep their wives in the background, just to wave and look pretty, he brings her to the forefront with him. It's good to see he isn't afraid to share the spotlight....it shows what kind of man he is.
I have heard Michelle speak before, but this time she was so awesome. I love the Obama's she handled that speech like nobody's business. I wonder if Cindy McCain can deliever like that? I hate those polls and I don't pay attention to the media so negative. God bless the Barack Obama and his family and God bless America
Very moving speech. They seem to know what we need in this country. I like the idea to vote with the need of hope and dreams, not fear. =) Very nice Michelle, I'd be proud to have you as my first lady (and it'd be the first time ever that I felt that way). I could never imagine a speech like that coming from Cindy McCain. Thank you.
That was wonderful! The Obamas make me feel as if I am a part of their family. They are the First Family! May God Bless America with the leadership of the Obamas!!
The was amazing! She gave such an inspiring speech, I truely hope that Obama will be voted the next president of the United States. I hope that my vote will actually count this year for Obama, I am from Oklahoma which is sadly a red state. Maybe like me everyone else is fed up with the Republicans and it will all change this year.
She is perfect to be a First Lady! And her husband will make a significant and good President! I was amazed to see how beautiful and apt is Obama's wife. Obama '08!
merely by having such an aspiration and by so deeply appreciating these qualites in first lady to be, michelle obama, you have achived your hope. god bless.
Michelle Obama is awesome!! She really made me proud to be an American - and clearly articulated the common values that bind us together as a great nation. We need to embrace hope and dream big - and never, never, never give up or give in to fear.
