As other apostles were abandoning Joseph Smith and apostatizing from the church Brigham Young followed the commandment to serve a mission in England. He left his wife and family destitute and sick and went to Great Britain and converted thousands of people to the gospel. He also led the great migration across the country after Joseph Smith was murdered. Brigham Young was the most loyal obedient servant of God in the entire church outside of Joseph. God bless Brigham Young.

Without his leadership coming across the plains and settling the various communities throughout Utah could never have happened. His strength in adversity and his relationship with God gave him the courage to lead us to success. Brigham Young was the man for that job and God knew it! My ancestors were taught and converted in Germany. They came across the sea to America, joined the saints and crossed the plains to Salt Lake. Brigham Young called them to settle Manti and build the temple there. I'm so proud of them and honored to be their descendant. Such hardships they suffered. As you may know, I have received relentless persecution after I made those two You-tube Videos responding to Michelle Stone. There is no question that Polygamy is consistent with the teachings of the Bible, which simply means Polygamy is of God. When and how it is correctly practiced is again of God. We today are not asked to practice it and it is a huge mistake to put ourselves in the place of those who have. We need to focus on Our challenges, not those of others.

I'm astonished at how their logic has become "No no, it's okay for us to speak evil of God's other prophets, because they're not Joseph Smith! No harm done whatsoever!" 🙄 It undermines literally everything they claim to believe. These people don't take ten seconds to contemplate what polygamy means when practiced by righteous people. Their brains simply say "wicked people did it in the past, therefore it can only be practiced by wicked men."

I was a Born Again Christian Pastor before i met the Missionaries. I told the Missionaries, let me pray to my God, the God of our religion, the Bethany Christian Church if the The Book of Mormon is true and that the Church of Jesus Christ Of latter-day saints is His true and living Church on the Earth. I did pray to God, the God I've known all my life and have relationship with since i was young. The answer came, when the Lord told me by His Holy Ghost that my fellow Pastors will try everything to destroy Joseph Smith by saying he committed adultery by Polygamy. Now i know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God.

My father joined the church after my mother passed away. He was about 75 at this time. He received his patriartical blessing. It states he will be sealed to my mother plus others that may be assigned to him. Plural marriage is part of Heaven.

Do you know what’s amazing is that we have had constant apostolic and prophetic direct line of authority. What I mean is our Prophets have served righteously without any salacious scandals or any massive and significant Faith rocking inproprietary that God would remove them. Tells me God ain’t playing around in these last days in bringing us his truly righteous leaders who will do his will and lead us into the second coming of Jesus Christ.🙏🏽❤️

As David knows, I've gone around this merry-go-round over and over. You are correct, there is no reasoning with this doctrine. In the end they will not answer anything that calls into question their doctrine and will eventually claim you are attacking them personally. Stay close to the prophet!

Questioning plural marriage is in essence questioning the wisdom of God. Like everyone else I have questions about polygamy but I trust God and His wisdom.

In my life… I’ve watched a number of people pick a teaching in the church to oppose… polygamy is an easy target. They hate when we recognize it’s a pathway to apostasy… and it’s not out of spite that we may say that. Truth is… we worry about where it will lead them and we love them. My guess is you thought evangelicals would be your biggest opposition David… that those with a lifetime of experience in this gospel would not be the ones you would stand against. You are an answer to many of our prayers … with such a solid foundation in the teaching of Christ in the Bible… and looking thru so many different Christian churches… you are armed for this fight. Better than the vast majority of us… and we are learning so much from you. As I’m sure you are learning from us. I listened to her discussion on Ward Radio and a video on her channel after her visit with Cardon. I will stick with the Prophet President Nelson and other church leaders and the scriptures as they are currently written until further light and truth are presented by the Prophet or Joseph Smith himself. I've listened to Michelle Stone and came away very confused because she says she's an active member of the church. She has a son on a mission and seems to be a lovely person. I know she's suffered personal loss in her life with the loss of a child. Yet, she actively speaks out against the church and particularly Brigham Young and other prophets. She says that she it's not her intent to lead people away from the church. She just speaks the truth. People can make their own decisions. She studies church history with the intent to find fault. If contention is of the devil, then she's in his camp. There is a wonderful talk given in October, 1992 Conference by President Howard W. Hunter. He says: "We, his servants all across the Church, need you, the women of the Church, to stand with us and for us in stemming the tide of evil that threatens to engulf us. Together we must stand faithful and firm in the faith against superior numbers of other-minded people. It seems to me that there is a great need to rally the women of the Church to stand with and for the Brethren in stemming the tide of evil that surrounds us and in moving forward the work of our Savior. If anyone is uncomfortable about plural marriage today it is because we are not supposed to practice it today! That doesn’t mean they didn’t practice it before?! They DID! It was a commandment for the elect of God! It WAS a hardship for many but it was what God wanted for that time. Now a days anyone who practices it now will be excommunicated. But Joseph Smith did practice it and was commanded to or be destroyed! When God commands something it doesn’t need to make sense to us who do not have his knowledge.

Church History Matters podcast on polygamy would clear up all confusion if anyone wants to invest the time to actually understand the true history of polygamy. It is masterfully presented by trained professional historians. Worth the time to listen to for sure.

Ppl like Michelle and John Delin are going to have to pay for pulling SO many saints away! It’s horrible to see how someone can twist things like this. It’s one thing to leave the church but to pull others away is horrible !Michelle stays so she can pull ppl away. That is a true wolf in sheep’s clothing. IF people are uncomfortable with the practice of plurals marriage it’s because we are not supposed to do it now but that doesn’t mean they didn’t need to! David, I am so glad that we can call you brother! I love your channel. I have two great grandmothers who desperately wanted to have children but could not have given birth to my ancestors if it were not for plural marriage. So I literally owe my existence to plural marriage. I would be happy to give you the details of these two fascinating accounts if you are interested. Plural marriage is beautiful when authorized by God. Otherwise it is a most wicked practice. (I have several other ancestors who were also plural wives but it could be argued that I could still be here if they had married single men instead of being married to men who already had wives. But in the unique cases of these 2 great-grandmothers that would not have been possible.)

✨️🙏🏻✨️No matter what religion you belong to, you have to accept polygamy because it's in the Bible! My husband came from a polygamous family from the early days of the church! Currently in the Catholic church young sisters are becoming Nun's and during this ceremony they receive gold bands to represent their marriage to Jesus Christ! Thousands of young sisters are doing this, is this not a form of polygamous behavior taking place in the catholic church? I know polygamy is something Sister's are very concerned about! They have worked very hard to have a wonderful marriage and a oneness with their husband's and they are unable to comprehend their husband's having relations with another woman even if her husband should take on another wife! It is mentally a daunting task to think of all the aspects of this dynamic! Talking about polygamy and understanding it, is very different than living it! I personally don't think that many of us will be asked to practice polygamy considering most men aren't Prophets and apostles! In my husband's blessing it says he would never love anyone else but me, basically, not in those words but similarly! Only Heavenly Father knows why he feels polygamy has been needed in the world 🌎 from time to time. I also know that this is the number one thing Sister's are afraid of having to share their husband's with other women. I personally feel it's not something I should worry about, at this time! As we become more like our Heavenly Father and we become more perfected our feelings of distrust and jealousy will leave us and no longer be apart of us like it is so strongly in mortality! ✨️🙏🏻✨️💙🧡❤️💜We just need to Trust in the Lord!

I think it was easier for people to follow Michelle in her new church (it must be a new church with her as the prophet- where else will she lead them?) because they were like the frog in the pot of water. I listened to a small portion after she had a large following and it smelled like and tasted like something rotten. If a frog gets put in the pot after it’s boiling they know immediately that it’s not right. She could say the same about people who grew up in the church. This is a day of reckoning - if you don’t have a firm foundation (regardless of generations of saints in your lineage) you will be thrown to the churches of the many ex-mos. I choose to follow the prophet. I raise my hand in my kitchen this morning and sustain Russell M. Nelson as God’s anointed prophet, seer, and revelator! God still speaks through prophets!

Thanks so much for what you really do for Jesus Christ, for His Restored Church, and for all its Members, even for the doubting members. I was also aBible Reader before i became a Member of our Church. I believe that it's really of God, this Plural Marriage as long as it is God Will for that man. Not as man wills it for himself. There's a great difference between that! Because God is God and has Power to do as He finds Wisdom in it. Who could dictate Him, Who could Question Him?! We just need to Trust Him fully. He knows Well What He is Doing. He is the Judge after all. In the first place Joseph did not do it on His own liking or purpose. He was commanded. Even the case of Abraham with Isaac, Nephi killing Laban... It was more on a Test of their Faith, and Second, For the Wise Purposes of God to be fulfilled . Who is Man to Question God???!!!!

I don't mind people having a hard time with polygamy or even not believing it was authorized by God. However moderation in all things. Michelle Stone seems to be hyperfocused on the issue to the expense of everything else. Nobody in the Church has been practicing polygamy for over 100 years. Give it a rest. What does make my head spin are those like my wife who disagree with polygamy and said God never authorized it but then believe that same sex marriage may be valid but we have not got an revelation by God yet. So we need to be ready to allow gay sealings in the temple. Forget everything written about polygamy in the scriptures but just declare it wrong but be open to a practice that has ZERO evidence to support it. All I can do is smile at my wife and love her because I just can't process that type of "black is white, white is black" thinking. People like Michelle don't like polygamy as it offends their westernized view of things. If they were honest with themselves and had they lived in another society 2000 or 3000 years ago, they would not think much of it. It was not that big of a deal. I do believe polygamy was practiced in the Book of Mormon. At least among the Jaredites. Ether 6:20 "... Now the number of the sons and the daughters of the brother of Jared were twenty and two souls;..." Ether 7:1-2 "1 And it came to pass that Orihah did execute judgment upon the land in righteousness all his days, whose days were exceedingly many. And he begat sons and daughters; yea, he begat thirty and one, among whom were twenty and three sons." The brother of Jared had 22 kids and Orihah had 31 kids. Now yes it does not specifically say the brother of Jared and Orihah had multiple wives at the same time but lets be honest. What is more likely? Three options. 1. That all these kids came from one woman? Very unlikely. 2. They married one woman, had some kids. This wife died and then they married another who had some kids, she died, then married another and had some kids? More likely than all from one woman but still not as likely as the third option. 3) They practiced polygamy. Polygamy was not unusual in those days and there would be no need to mention it all the time. A man has dozens of kids. Read the tea leaves. He is a polygamist. Most likely option given the time period in my opinion. For me its just obvious. Finally, I just don't understand why there are people who don't like the idea that a man today can be sealed to more than one wife in the temple. If you are one of those women are sealed to a husband and you don't want your husband to be sealed to anyone else but you, talk to your husband and tell him that. Ask him not to be sealed to any other women if you die first. He will honor your request. Some women may not care. Stop trying to make decisions for other people.

Thank you both for your testimony of the truth. This was a wonderful video, and i appreciate the time you took to discuss this topic, which can be difficult for some to understand. Unfortunately, I have friends who have fallen victim to the lies and deceit discussed in this very video. They have distanced themselves from the prophet and apostles and basically think that anything after Joesph Smith is false. Satan will put those seeds of doubt in your mind and before you know it, you question and then doubt everything about the doctrines of Christ. Thats why the brethren have cautioned against engaging with the doubters. For if your own testimony is not firmily based in Christ and his words, you may fall prey to the whisperings of the devil. You cannot hold a recommend if you affiliate with any group or organization that is against the church

Thank you for sharing this critical testimony. I ran across this concept 2-3 years ago, when a friend of mine posted sentiments to these erroneous teachings. In order to buy into these concepts, you essentially have to jettison the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants, and much of the actual recorded history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Which, to be blunt, essentially means, to buy into these things, means people don't know what is in the scriptures, or are deliberately ignoring what is in them to serve their own purpose. Polygamy has absolutely been a part of the history of the Lord's work. Has it been abused at times? Of course, like so many other precepts. Which, the Lord makes clear in D&C 132, to the prophet Joseph Smith. But the Lord also makes it clear, that, when it is required, it is done so under the Lord's direction for the building up of the Lord's people, and ultimately the blessing of the covenant people of the Lord. But yes, to provide a few stark examples; If members want to buy into this insiduous teaching, they have to jettison their patriarchal blessings, which declare their linage and of which tribe of Israel they are a part of; (because Jacob was obviously wrong for having multiple wives, so, cancel Israel); they have to jettison Abraham because he had multiple wives, so no more Abrahamic covenant; With no Abraham, there goes most of the Old Testament; Cancel the apostle Paul, who taught that bishops should be the husband of one wife, but was obviously okay with non-bishops having multiple wives, so he can't be trusted, so, there goes the most of the New Testament; Cancel Isaiah, because he prophisied, that there would come a time when "seven women would take hold of one man", so he obiously can't be a true prophet; and of course, cancel Jesus Christ, because he quoted Isaiah the most, who obviously cited polygamy being required at times, so, sorry Jesus, you support Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Isaiah, so you obviously are mis-informed. The whole concept spirals completely out of control. I was completely baffled when I first came across these mis-guided concepts, because you literally have to kick out all the scriptural and prophetic supports going back through time to buy into this line of thinking. All due respect to brothers and sisters who want to protect the sanctity of their marriage, because, yes!, the Lord wants strong marriages too! As he said so clearly in Jacob 2:27-28: "Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none; 28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts." But in this same chapter, the Lord is likewise very clear: "if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people;" meaning, he will require polygamy, when, in His wisdom, it is needed, otherwise, men should have only one wife. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and that includes all the times the Lord has required polygamy, for the purpose or "raising up seed" unto Himself. Thank you, again, for this critical testimony.

Apparently these women haven’t read Amos 3: 7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The scriptures don’t say “…but he revealeth his secret unto secret combinations of women who think they know better than me” Here is something to share with them. In Daniel 2:44, he is speaking of the restored kingdom on earth in the last days (ie: Joseph Smith), and it says: “2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom *shall not be left to other people*, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever” So if they do not understand what this verse is saying they should declare themselves apostate. The kingdom, once restored, will not be lost until Christ comes. Period

Two of my grandpa are in the Mormon prisoners photos. When one was released his ward planned a potluck and celebration for him for defending the faith.

It is my belief that there are modern day Sherems taking advantage of people who do not understand or have a testimony of these controversial topics and doctrines (which shouldn’t be controversial at all) by preaching the philosophies of men lightly laced with scripture, making them feel comfortable with it and that is why they feel light. I’ve always said that the reason why people who leave the church say they’re the happiest they’ve ever been is because Satan doesn’t have to try so hard anymore to lead them astray. President Eyring once said “If you are on the right path it will always be uphill.” Also, that’s my mom and I am so proud of her!!! ❤

After reading in the Bible and Book of Mormon I know that God lives and has according to his own words restored his church In these Last Days. After reading “The Discourses of Brigham Young I know that through his life experience, faith and revelations, he knows more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ than I do! After reading “Stories of the Prophets” of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I know that God has since Joseph Smith always had a good prophet on earth to lead his church. After listening to General Conference for many decades I can testify that the church of Jesus Christ is led by our Savior. I recommend reading “Heart of the Matter” and humbly seeking this Jesus Christ to learn if he speaks today through Russell M Nelson❤

If it wasn't for plural marriage in the early church, the church would not be where it is today spreading the gospel to the four corners of the earth!! Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, all the prophets and the Lord are NOT unwise people. :>)

Before there was Michelle Stone. Their was Denver Snuffer who presented a different narrative of church history. Snuffer for example quotes David Whitmer saying their is no priesthood offices, keys, polygamy etc. He stops quoting David Whitmer when he calls Joseph Smith a false prophet and saying that it was Joseph who set those things up. Denver Snuffer denounces the the Keys of the priesthood and therefore D&C 110 goes out the window. He denounces church offices despite the those organizations being mentioned in the Book of Mormon, Bible and Doctrine and Covenants. Denver Snuffer denounces the living apostles and prophets. Denounces the miracle of Brigham Young appearing and sounding like Joseph Smith and having the prophetic mantel fall on him. These women have been deceived by Snuffer who have bought his narratives. He stops quoting David Whitmer when he calls Joseph Smith a false prophet and saying that it was Joseph who set those things up. Denver Snuffer deceived these individuals and they fight against living apostles and prophets believing they do God service.

Korihor was not an outsider. He was an apostate who had been through the temple. And verily believed what he was teaching. Thank you for "Stay really close to the brethren."

As I think about the faith of the early saints to accept the commandments as they were given by the prophet , I’m amazed. It makes me evaluate how deep my own faithfulness is and if I need to increase my faith…..yes I do. As far as the doctrine of polygamy goes, it is a difficult concept to accept when looking through a physical lens influenced by society and our own emotions. But when looking through a more spiritual lens, the doctrine actually makes complete sense of Gods eternal plan. The worlds of our Father in Heaven are innumerable, and so is His posterity…as it shall be with our own posterity. His work and glory. I can see how this fits in an eternal perspective.

Christ does say He will clean out His own house first before He will move onto the world. Unfortunately, apostasy has always been a human tendency.

This story reminds me of an experience of Christ told in the Book of John. Chapter 6 verses 47 through 69. Christ is teaching the sacrament, but explains it as eating his flesh and drinking his blood. "60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?" So some disciples found this teaching hard to accept and Christ asks if it offends them? "66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him." Love Peters reply to Jesus..."67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God." Where do these sisters think they can go for the "words of eternal life"? Many of Christ's disciples found it hard to accept some teaching of Jesus and because of it they turned away from him and never came back, much to their own damnation. I think how sad. And now these sisters, and others, are doing the same thing over Polygamy because THEY do NOT understand it. Where is their faith in Christ?

I don’t know. I think it’s the wheat being separated from the shaft. Some people have been lukewarm their whole life, they avoided dealing with their issues. One day everybody will have to make a decision. Everybody will have to say yes or no to Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation. Before we decided based on our love for Heavenly Father, Mother, and Jesus Christ, but our love for them is not enough to make us Gods and Goddesses and partake of the Celestial Glory. We need to make the decision based on our own reasoning, knowing the consequences, and understanding what the valley of death is. Only having our deepest desire to live a Celestial Glory will make us get there. It is sad to see people choosing to take the path that will take them to valley of death. I don’t know if they will come back after taking that turn. I don’t know if that is truly who they are and what they want but I trust Heavenly Father. I wish I could help people see, I have this feeling since I was a kid but I don’t know what I can do besides just being myself. I love God (all of them). I love the ancient prophets, I love the restoration prophets! I love the modern prophets! I’m so thankful for all of them!!! As far as finding flaws in prophets, it’s the most ridiculous things to do. Of course they have flaws, that’s the most uncharitable thing to do. I would say whoever has been a perfect teacher, a perfect Relief Society leader, or a perfect bishop, or a perfect parent can go and point out their flaws. As for me, I see them as altruistic and brave man who loved Father and tried their best. God has a reason to have called all of them.

Pololygamy was not against the law in the United States until 1882 with the passing of the Edmunds Anti-Polygamy Act. Joseph Smith was martyred in 1844 and Brigham Young died in 1877. While both these prophets were living, polygamy was legal in the United States. The Church discontinued the practice after it was outlawed in the United States. There were many other people practicing polygamy other that the LDS church prior to 1882 and afterwards as well. We must go to the Lord to be taught with a sincere & open heart and the Holy Ghost will teach us individually the truth of all things. I come from a polygamy line on my father's side. Without polygamy, I wouldn’t have been born. My great-great-grandmother from my mother’s side lived in Nauvoo and wrote of the day they received news of Joseph's death. She wrote of how, when Brigham Young was speaking to the people, the baby she was holding (a sibling) dropped a toy. She bent over to pick it up, and when she came back up and looked at Brigham Young, she thought it was Joseph Smith. His mantle changed, and the Holy Ghost bore witness that this was their next prophet. This was her witness and testimony.

Yeah, sad about her, sad about Sister Stone. Sad about those who are stuck in this manner of thinking. So, you believe Joseph sinned? No? Brigham sinned? *_If they or he sinned, why won't you leave their repentance between them and their Savior?_* Enjoy the fruit *_today_* ! I mean _today_ is all we have. Isn't that is how we know The Prophets today? As Jesus said *_By Their Fruits_* ? Nothing to be gained by chipping at the wood or digging at the roots. Impossible to know what happened last 20 years ago, let alone 200 or 2000 years. All we have is the fruit to discern with. To me the fruit *_today_* is sweet and abundant! The 1890 manifesto was enough for us. Why not you?

Sad thing is the women and many Christian’s of other church’s never read the Bible cover to cover. Polygamy has been a part of Gods church since the beginning. Abraham had two, had four….. the idea of having only one is more of a newer belief. They talk from their own selfishness.

This experience by John Taylor taught me so much about God's laws and the fact they are eternal. I was prompted to study plural marriage in 2018. I know it is a beautiful and true principle and is part of Celestial Law. It is Our Father's way of life, it is the Patriarchal Order. For I the Lord am everlasting and my everlasting covenants cannot be abrogated nor done away with; they stand forever. Have I not given my word in great plainness on this subject? I will never understand sola scruptura and then disbelieving in prophets when the scriptures came from prophets? They don't trust man, only scripture that was given to man? ????

My problem with what Michelle Stone says about the revelation given on polygamy coming from Brigham Young, is that I have a relative Joseph Kingsbury who had a personal copy of the revelation, it says Navoo July 10th 1840. A copy of it is in Joseph Kingsbury a Biography written by Lyndon W. Cook. Desdemona Fullmer who was my fourth great aunt was married to Joseph Smith. Also have many family members in Navoo who were living polygamy before Joseph died. It saddens me that she could be so wrong about my family history.

Thank you for explaining a little more of what these people are doing. I know that President Nelson is the Lord's Prophet because I have had a very strong (and unexpected) witness that he IS the Prophet. I am very thankful for that witness. Since President Nelson really is the Prophet, I can have confidence that the prior presidents were also The Lord’s Prophets.

When I was a child, my parents gathered us kids together for family home evening and recorded our grandmother describing to us how she would sit on the lap of her grandfather and braid his beard while he told her stories about how he had personally known the Prophet Joseph Smith, and how he knew he was a true prophet. Her grandfather (my great great grandfather) had plural wives. Those who claim plural marriage had nothing to do with Joseph Smith have very good imaginations, empty of reality.

For instance, it is very likely that your two sweet mothers will both be sealed by proxy to your father. Maybe they will all accept the arrangement in heaven or maybe not. They both have children with your father, and they might not want to tear the family asunder. There are many such families throughout the church and the world. In cases like this, I just don't see how sending one of your wives and some of your children away would be the holy thing to do. Or, that keeping them would be a loathsome evil. What we have here is a discussion of the doctrine of the Community of Christ. If these women were honest, they'd just go attend their meetings.

It’s amazing how many simply make up lies about church history or doctrines thinking that if they say it enough it will become true. Moreover, they place the strangest twists on misinterpreting scripture as if to intentionally fight established doctrine of the church.

I’ve tried to be a voice of reason on Michelle Stone’s channel but I’m definitely outnumbered there. I honestly don’t know how those folks can’t see the danger and ultimate end to their position. I’m curious how many still somehow justify holding a current temple recommend when they’ve thrown so many Latter-Day prophets under the bus.

At 42:00 the discussion goes into Abraham and it was briefly mentioned that some say Abraham repented for his actions with Hagar before the promised covenant was given, but that wasn't true. First, Flavio Josephus when he wrote Antiguities of the Jews actually said Sarah, acting under commandment, gave Hagar to Abraham. Clearly, that was a plain and precious truth that existed in the copy of Genesis Josephus had around 70 AD when he wrote that book. But even in our copy of Genesis, Sarah deals with Hargar harshly, and Hagar runs away only to be told by an angel of the Lord to go back. In the next chapter, Abraham is given the covenant and his new name and commanded to be perfect. In the chapter after that, the Lord appears to Abraham with two angels to promise the coming of Isaac. These all take place while Abraham is a practicing polygamist. In the next chapter, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, which brings me to my next point. Michelle Stone and those like her are not only trashing polygamy but at the same time promoting the LGBTQ agenda. As if God has given an about face towards what we read in those parts of Genesis

Thank you. This is very simple we either believe the prophets are called of God and lead our church through revelation or they don’t. If these deserters don’t believe this, they the don’t believe in the church. Multiple prophets practiced polygamy both modern and ancient. The law is very simple. One man one woman unless God says otherwise. We don’t get to pick and choose doctrines. We may not like it. It may make us uncomfortable at times, but Christ reveals His will to the prophets and they do as He commands. We don’t get to pick and choose prophets. That is Christ’s prerogative. We only get to choose if we will follow them or not. Not surprisingly, God is not subject to our sensibilities or world view. The utter blasphemous arrogance to think we get to dictate doctrine to God. Yikes!

Hi David. I have watched your recent video dealing with this nonsense about plural marriage. I just want to throw a thought here for you to consider. That is, if someone believes that we have a mother in heaven, that person cannot escape believing that plural marriage is from God. If a person rejects plural marriage as coming from God, that person has to reject that the Father has a wife who is our spirit mother. Furthermore, if we all believe we have a mother in heaven but don't believe in plural marriage, then we don't believe that Jesus is the only begotten son of God in the flesh. Plural marriage is intrinsically woven with the doctricne the atonement. Just think about it.

This video/ these videos have been very timely for me. I never had a problem with polygamy all my growing up years but recently had a co worker tell me horrible things about how Brigham would treat his wives. It brought me up sharp because i never heard anything bad about him. But i though this can't be true. So im still in the camp of this can't be true because God would have taken him out in a major way if these rumors were true. But your videos really helped strengthen me and see polygamy in a light i never thought of before. Im married to a decendent of a polygamy family so it has a bit more significance for me as well. By their fruits ye shall know them. The fruits of Brigham Young don't suggest that he was cursed. The entire world has been blessed by the work that was begun by Brigham Young under inspiration from the Lord. Compare the Fruits of the Church lead by President Young to the fruits of the apostate break-off churches and see which one is cursed.

I will start with 1 Timothy 4: 1. Then I will point out Doctrine And Covenants 28: 1-7, which says that only Joseph Smith Jr. could receive commandments for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, until God appointed another in his staed, and yes God said he would appoint another, which was Brigham Young. Even if Brigham Young had started polygamy, which he didn't, but if he had, as the one chosen by God in the stead of Joseph Smith Jr. he had every right to command the practice. It says in the Official Declaration 1 that God will not allow his Prophets to lead his Church astray. And Brigham Young himself said not to blindly follow anyone, even himself, but to pray to God about everything he said and gain a testimony for themselves. I know of no other church on earth that tells it's members to ask God if they are speaking truths. Most absolutely say that God no longer gives revelations to men, that you have to find your answers in the Bible, but more especially in the Creeds and commentaries on the Bible.

Aw David. I’m sorry you are exposed to this kind of stuff. I never want any recent convert to see the confusion that can come from within the ranks of the membership of the Church. However, I am glad that you are wise enough, versed in scripture well enough, and child-like enough to be able to recognize where these kinds of messages are coming from. This kind of thing makes me sad. I hope that the people who espouse this theory quickly come to their senses and repent. They are our brothers and sisters, but need to humble themselves and listen very closely to President Nelson. Love you man.

As we head towards the prophesied Millennial reign of Christ, when the earth at that time will be cleansed by fire (Terestrial glory), we should reflect upon the conditions that Isaiah foretells will exist as written by Isaiah in Isaiah 4:1-4 "1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach. 2 In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. 3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: 4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning." (Nephi quotes this prophesy also as recorded in 2 Nephi 4.) It appears to me that at the time of the transfiguration of the earth from a Telestial state to a Terestrial state that the ratio of righteous men and women remaining upon the earth will not be equal. Initially the Millennium will be repopulated by a righteous seed raised up by the Lord through these transfigured Saints. Thus it seems to me that the circumstances at that time will necessitate the practic of the principles of the plurality of wives to accommodate the needs of the righteous women that'll out number the men by 1:7. Initially during the early days of this transfigured earth, it will need to be repopulated, having vastly been depopulated by the removal of all who can not abide by the glory and law of a Terestrialised world. All who live a Telestial law will be in mass transfered by cleansing fire in to the spirit world. If one can't get there head around this future situation, then I would suggest that one then will not be fit to stand in that day, and abide the sanctification process to come upon the righteous who will abide that day and live into that Millennial era of glory, when the inaugurating of such principles will again be practiced amoung these saints as so clearly fortold by Isaiah, and reiterated by Nephi. Joseph Smith is a true prophet sent of the Lord, and he restored the fullness of the gosple, was obedience to directions received of the Lord, and did institute and practice in his time the principles of the doctrine of the plurality of wives. It seems to me that when all is said and done, that ultimately there will be far more women that qualify to attain exaltation than men. Simple mathematics nessitates the only way for this reality to be practically met.

Hello Sheri and David, Thank you both for defending these attacks on the Lord's restored Church and his duly called Prophets and Apostles. Thank you David for clearly pointing out that plural marriage was commanded by God in the Old Testament. I love Daniel 2:44. The 2 main keys that Daniel gives are that the kingdom the God of heaven will set up in the last days shall never be destroyed and shall not be left to other people. Those who claim that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and the Book of Mormon is the word of God, but Brigham Young led the Church astray and all prophet/presidents of the Church are illegitimate are calling Daniel a liar!! They are the "other people" to whom the church will NOT be given and are trying to steady the ark (1 Chronicles 13:9-10). Korihor, Sherem, Nehor and many others in centuries past, who were not called, sustained and set apart, are guilty of priestcraft as defined in 2 Nephi 26:29. These apostate women are guilty of the same thing -- setting themselves up for a light to get gain and the praise of the world. 18 million out of 8 billion are truly the salt of the earth. A small handful of dissenters are salt that has lost its savor.

Boyd k Packer-❤ if you learn by reason only, you will never understand the Spirit and how it works-regardless of how much you learn about other things. The scriptures teach that “great men are not always wise.” Spiritually you may “know not, and know not that you know not,” and be “ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Your spirit learns in a different way than does your intellect. For “there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding,” and the Spirit of Christ “giveth light to every man that cometh into the world.”

The fascinating irony of polygamy is that it weeded the Lord's house in the days Joseph, because only the most ardent disciples remained with the Church and (even less actually practiced) plural marriage. All of a sudden, it is weeding again. Those who do not accept it are again rejecting the current prophet, the current temple, and are leaving the church. Once again only the most believing believers will be left in the Lord's house.

I know this issue of plural marriage can be quite confusing but what I've been able to pull from scripture, some personal revelation and God given common sense is... I have a relative named Emanual Masters Murphy. He was a friend to the prophet Joseph Smith. One time the prophet bought a horse and some cloth to make a suit with an IOU. By the time of the prophets' time in Liberty jail it hadn't been paid back so the brethren used him to go to the jail and pass some messages to the prophet. He could do that because he faked being mad and showed the jailers the IOU so they let him talk with him. I say this to establish that he was quite friendly to the prophet and trusted by the twelve. He was married to a women in 1831 in South Carolina. He married three other women in the 1860s in Utah. If he didn't believe that the prophet established plural marriage he wouldn't have done it. He was in his 50's when he entered into his plural wife marriages. Another ancestor named Elias A. Smith was a first cousin to the prophet and was baptized by Hyrum Smith. He married his first wife in 1845 in Nauvoo. He then married his second wife (who I come through) in 1856. I believe he was very familiar with the prophet Joseph Smith and I know he was familiar with the prophet Brigham Young. Believe me I'm not the only one that can recount ancestors who were polygamous in the early days of the Church and were relatives or friends with many of the leadership from the early days of the church.

I want a t-shirt... I doesn't matter how attractive the teaching is or how groovy it makes you feel... if it contradicts God's prophet you need to disregard it!

I have been so sad about all the persecution against our leaders. It is not just the women. There are men that are also men. The bottom line is this is not man’s church, it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His kingdom is a house of order and Doctrine and Covenants 1:38-39 teach us that the Prophet are His mouthpiece . When one criticizes our leaders, they are criticizing the Savior. We also learn in the Temple that when we speak ill of His anointed, we are in Satan’s power. With Christ, we act on faith. We may not always understand but we can trust that the Savior does. We may be asked to do hard things…we were sent to earth to see if we would do all that God commanded. They gave us the gift of agency. There are many choosing God, choosing to stay on the Covenant path, choosing to overcome the world. There are many that want the world and have stepped off the path and they are speaking loud and clear from the large and spacious building. Stay focused on the Tree. Keep partaking of the fruit.

I think the point that David has made in the past is good enough to explain polygamy sufficiently, and that is in part, that the church simply would not have survived without it. If you think about it, has there ever been a time in American history that a government document was produced that actually allowed the destruction of human beings based solely and specifically on the practice of their beliefs? This is what we are talking about. The survival of the restoration was hanging in the balance, and without the preservation of the population of the members for that short time, the restoration would have failed. You don't need to defend the brethren. Because maybe, like the Book of Mormon, which is a compilation of ancient prophets, we are all compiled in a great book called the Book of Life. In that book, the beauty is found in the contrast between our actions and our hearts. One of the great contributions to this beauty is the persecution that the brethren and all righteous people endure for the Father's namesake. That book, I suppose, will be very long with many chapters, each with varying degrees of attribution to the bringing forth of the Covenant. As we pass through the veil, we may be given perfect knowledge of the contents of that book. I think we will be quite familiar with our own contributions or our own chapters, if you will.Maybe it's not our place to defend as we want to, but rather our place is to proclaim the truth simply and matter-of-factly. Speaking as one having authority through humility and the Holy Ghost is not only sufficient but wields a power that is unseen and indescribable. In this way, our words and actions resonate with divine truth, touching hearts and guiding souls in ways beyond our understanding, contributing to the eternal tapestry of the Book of Life.

The most important thing is that you stand for what you know what is true. Those who talk and bash what you say is true will have to answer for themselves and pay the consequences.

I think people that criticize polygamy are disturbed people. Polygamy doesn’t mean everybody sleeping in the same bedroom or bed or orgies. I think that is what they think polygamy is. Healthy people that respect others, that doesn’t believe others are property have no problem living in monogamy or polygamy marriage. I believe if we had polygamy today we would have much healthier and stronger families. Children would be loved and cared for. But because our world has a bunch of narcissists we cannot have polygamy because the narcissists would cause much suffering like they do in their monogamic marriages.

Regarding Satan lying to Eve about dying.... I have often pondered this and what I believe happened is that Satan was deceptively referring to one thing, while Heavenly Father was talking about another. Satan was saying "ye shall not die" referring to that exact moment in time (ie: you will die the moment you eat the apple, or in THAT day). So he was being deceptive. When Heavenly Father said "for in the day that you eat of it you shall die", remember we are given God's timeline in 2 Peter 3:8, where 1 day for mortals is 1,000 years in God's time -> therefore this is why Adam lived only to be 930 years old and did not pass 1,000 years. So God indeed kept his word, but Satan conflated the meaning of "day" to deceive Eve. In addition, it's possible the Garden of Eden was a Celestial type kingdom at the time, because no one had sinned yet. This is why after Adam and Eve were disobedient that the Lord said the earth shall be cursed, and thorns and thistles will come forth and you will work by the sweat of your brow" - so in a way, the earth was changing to a Telestial kingdom from it's Celestial state. Which could also explain why time might have been different on earth when God said "1 day" in the Celestialized state vs "1 day" in a Telestial state. Those are just my thoughts though....

I am looking for a scripture that talks about if the Prophet doesn’t live or do what the Lord tells them they would be taken away by the Lord. So our Prophets have anyways done what Heavenly Father wants them to do including Joseph Smith and Brigham Young! All my life as a member there is always someone (acting for Satan) to pull people away from his true church or stop them from enjoying the true church. I love that you know now that there is only ONE true church on the earth. People talk to people more than talk to Heavenly Father.
