I gotta disagree on allowing performance enhancers of any kind (from steroids to stickum) in competition. Sport is supposed to be a showcase of the athletes’ natural capabilities. Something like stickum, for example, enhances a pitcher’s spin rate unnaturally.

it's so damn simple - play by whatever the rules are. Steroids, for example. If you sign a contract that says you can't use steroids but you _do_ use steroids, you've committed fraud and get punished accordingly. If you insist on using steroids, _don't sign the contract._ If you choose to play in a league that doesn't allow stickum but you _do_ use stickum, you get penalized according to the established rules _that you agreed to_ by playing in that league. If you insist on using stickum, _don't play in that league._ Whether or not those things _should_ be allowed _is an entirely different question._ If you want different rules, work to change the rules or find somewhere with rules that are acceptable to you. Don't make this so complicated!
