Global warming is a farce. What about the Grand solar minimum? Climate change is more appropriate a catch phrase than global warming. Michio Kaku ur a very intelligent man keep bringing us this future that is inevitable.
Scott Reeder I have already thought of these possibilities, but what is scary is if these biological weapons got in the wrong hands. I hope that never happens.
People can be shitty. He's not giving them ideas. He's just bringing to light the possibilities if certain tech gets in the hands of shitty people. =/ A good reason why we non-shitty people need to stand up in mass to the few shitty people. More than we already do. If we do at all. . ..
This makes me wonder if I even want to have children and let them live in all the chaos and strangers future. My generation is messed up but I imagine the next generations. Makes me shiver.
@@luna-pc3fk "By 2030 you'll own nothing and you'll be happy" - The World Economic Forum. Also UN Agenda 2030. The goal is depopulation and enslavement of the rest, so long as they are useful.
How about take a look at the opposite? Have children then teach them things that can be helpful to the world, so they can be part of the positive movers of the world, educate them, lead them, enlighten them, it will be a win win situation, you created an awesome children and do your part as a parent and your children contributed to the world.
Every time Michio Kaku gets started on space, civilization, or physics, I'm blown away on his idealistic knowledge and how his intellectual capacity never stops, constantly thinking on a superior level of I.Q.
Wait, this was recorded before the Ebola broke out in 2014 ? Also kinda relevant now since CoVid 19/Sars 2 is a pandemic almost 13 years after he wrote this book.
He spoke of the Spanish Flu. What he didn't mention was the fact that U.S. soldiers were injected with a vaccine, and the Spanish Flu followed shortly after. Most people died from bacteria issues. It would be interesting to know the ingredients of that vaccine.
If we want to continue the human race, then we have to believe in better future of our world, regardless to dark side of the present and up-coming technologies.
There's a dark side to everything, there is no better future save for extinction. And even then, that would have to be the extinction of everything, the whole universe. Which is, admittedly, highly unlikely.
The "typewriter" which Dr. Kaku describes has already, in a way, been made by Dr Craig Venter and his team. Only problem is we have no idea yet what to write. But it's possible to build genes from scratch and see what happens. Awesome and frightening all at once.
personaly, and this may be nieve i think we are more like 'the ancients' pictured in stargate. the first intelligent life before all others, and its our job to seed life on other planets when we get there. IF we get there.
I'm from Bangladesh. It's one of the never ending struggling land. What can we do about the future instead of leaving the country?!? You are the genius Mr. Michio kaku, I am one of your biggest admirer and we feel proud of you, your words really inspires us. Please give us some solutions instead of scaring only.
ventureelect this guy isnt giving away anything. honestly he is "physics for dummies" most of the time. to actually perfect the theories he talks about, would require vast amounts of research and money. so saying anyone could make it is, "theoretically possible" but not exactly "feasible". a mind free of ego can do anything within its given resources.
Would the downside of technology also include the development of technologies that gain considerable profits? For example, improving cell phones over finding cures for diseases
Which one is the odd one out? A) PhD in Mathematical Biology B) PhD in Theoretical Physics C) PhD in Applied Mathematics D) Large Pepperoni Pizza E) PhD in Statisics Answer: (B) All the others can feed a family.
....and it's only noteworthy because it's funny. Kaku is a successful author and professor... he feeds his family just fine. He is one of the best in his field today. This is a remarkable time in human history, filled with many brilliant scientists, visionaries, and entrepreneurs, but somehow I've found my way to Kaku's work... and I didn't even study physics (But his brilliant mind has inspired me to possibly do so.)
I like Mr. Kaku's way of presenting new physical discoveries and theories and in this videos I see he's also a scientist who's aware of the dangers and gives us a warning, that I like, too :-) one should never forget that as long as we depend on this planet we have to protect it and all its life. And one also shouldn't forget his or her roots, so this protection extends to the whole life-time of this planet, not just as long as we need it.
Uhg, even though i love all these cientific developments (i fucking love my pc, the internet, wikipedia, google, all the good medicine and video games), it actually frightens me what can also be done with it in the hands of some people who think they can create a new world from scrap; or to modify humans as they please.
Science is not at fault, since science only makes things possible, it doesn't determine what happen after. If people end up using technology to kill each other and do harm, then the responsibility is with humanity, or the lack thereof.
Neosaigo Tell that shit to Einstein who spent his last years destroying science with fake theories in order to keep humans from every using his work again to kill on a massive level. If you don't know that most all of Einsteins later works were dedicated to destroying all functional science, then you don't know Einstein.
Neosaigo You have a very good point but you cant say that it starts with the creation and then use of the technology, etc. The responsibility starts at the science, saying I know I am able to do/make this, but that doesn't mean I should. The question never comes down to will my advances be used for "evil" but when, the true responsibility lies on those who gave the option for such things to happen!
i know right? i absolutely love that person! he is talking about everything using so simple words and explanations! i wish my physics teacher would do that ,maybe then i would like to pay attention
My Grandma, who died last summer at age 101, was in 2nd Grade when the Spanish Flu hit worldwide. In her small town in the Gold Country of Central California about 100 people died. Flu hit ALL age groups equally and killed children, old people and healthy people in their 20's. In her small school of about 60 kids they lost about 10 kids and the entire school was traumatized. The threat of "bio-terrorism" should be taken seriously because it is so easy to initiate...
Ah clever. You are absolutely right. Surely government and scientists would see a unpredicted consequence to such developments. So what is the logical thing to do? Make a solution! You see, when people abuse new tech for their own selfish deviancy, they are considered outliers; as an outlier, they would not be considered as the prime result from the development of new tech. So they are unintended results, just like when the computers were invented, it was intended to help people. However, some people use it to hack. And how did the combat malicious hacking? With other hackers of coarse. You fight fire with fire. So, like doctors make antidotes to viruses using part of the virus! Tech developers must make an "antidote" to counteract the outliers.
ya but then I think it would be a thing like if they are trying to take over a territory with mechs with no humans they should warn the citizens to pack up their stuff and go so it could be a mech battle with no lives being risked I find that smart but its never gonna happend.
he's supposed to be a top academic and yet doesn't even challenge the government funded evidence that says global warming is real LOL the irony of that is quite sickening
+Ahmad Danish yeah indeed but read the title , we should be aware of it ! and he wants the government to prepare for worst because its true , even without kakku still people will have this idea of being curious . like the hackers , they wonder how it works until they figure it out how to hack .. get it son ?
these ideas are nothing new, even i had thought making a virus when i first learned about viruses in school. Surely they will become easily programmable and producible things in near future.
Armis is a strategy game designed to provide a fast brain workout Here are some benefits of playing Armis * Armis develops critical thinking skills, and provokes logical thinking * Armis builds self-esteem, and inspires you to be inventive * Armis spurs you to plan for and attain success * Armis emboldens you to learn and understand complex matters easier and faster * Armis boosts will-power * Armis sharpens your analytic and cognitive mind * Armis triggers post-traumatic growth
What I am most afraid of is the total lack of respect for privacy, as you kaku demonstrate yourself when you look forward to when you can, for example with google glasses see what other peoples names and see a biography of them etc just by looking at them, and you take it even further, to be able to see what they see. That's what scares me.
The Dr. has amazing foresight. Putting advanced technology into the hands of a Great Ape that acquired the adaptation of cooperation by successfully killing off or otherwise eliminating other groups is arguably the biggest problem.
Kaku was talking about profileration of weapons. But the real question is: is there any kind of technology that is in its essence benign but can cause only harm?
If we had the power to change sand into gold, we would have gold electric wires because it is a better conductor. It would be the same as printing more money. It doesn't change the value of all the bills together. It would cause a reduction of the price of gold, diamonds, whatever you create. There will always be people that will want more, that will prefer to sell you something or even destroy it rather than give it for free, even if they already have "enough" and everything.
the thought of man grows from examination, discrimination, generalisation and finally to abstraction. technology grows from single, simple, and well understood idea to multi layered, complex and least understood one. man has to keep himself smart and ethical to help him innovate good technology.
The down fall of technology in my opinion or perhaps plus is that it itself studies us humans and get to learn us... but I'm always interested in what this man and their culture has to speak and display... lol...
Moore's law only applies to transistors on a chipset. What you described is going to be a series of leaps. But within ten years, we will be at the point where binary computers can't be devloped any further, since the size of the atom will be too big for them to be any more complex, and the speed of light is too slow for them to have faster clock rates.
He is talking about high school kids but problem is all of my high school friend hates maths and got no interest in science. :(( wish i had friend who loved science.
Sry i'm french, i thought crop failure meant bad harvest. I said that because you said that if there was much more gold (and other expensive things) there wouldn't be greed. Well, i have no solution for this problem. It seems that there is no way to eradicate greed and lust for power in my opinion. Some people just need power, no matter what. And like i said, money can buy power. So there will be greed too.
The title of the piece is wrong. Technology has no sides (either light or dark), it just is. The thing we are talking about is the people using the technology, those have light and dark sides.
Fair enough, I have my fair share of typos and errors, myself. But if we don't correct each other, no one will learn. What extreme methods do we have that can fix it?
First of all sorry for my bad eng. i get it wrong sometimes cus i write fast and dont check .p. "there aint that much of it" was refering to the land ice that whould actualy effect sea lvl. There is large amount of that 70 % ice that whouldn t efect sea lvl at all. And i know we are trying to solve this issue right now but what i was saying eaven if we fail we have other extreme methods that can be used if things get out of control.
In case anybody gets worried about dark technology being developed, we had the same problem 100 years ago about higher technology. With dark technology will come good technology to counter out the bad activity.
It's funny when I think about it, one of the main things that interested me in biochemistry was Resident Evil. I day dreamed about Regenerators (from Resident Evil 4) and even thought up of my own creations xD. I miss my childhood :(
While looking for the entire Spanish flu virus genome, I founded out that the most important genes that are needed to not only recreate the Spanish flu virus, but to also have the same virulent affect that the original Spanish flu virus had, you'd had to have two very important genes:the genes for hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA).
Maybe my previous example wasn't very clear. You cannot send bots to specifically kill "bad" cells, because there MUST be some kind of molecular recognition, and this is not unchangable, therefore the targeted microbe can acquire immunity.
Nature doesn't *tell* us anything, it isn't a living entity, it's a concept. And since we only know of 1 planet with life, there's no way to answer your question (that, and there is no way to quantize civility)
don't worry, it's not the way I look at the world.. I agree with you on getting along with everyone, would be nice to get everybody educated enough to see we all are and want the same.
ice melting will raise water levels in areas and lower them in other areas. technically yes it's the same amount of water, but it will be covering things it shouldn't cover.
Governments from all over the World need to take more advice from scientists like Dr. Michio Kaku for instance, Not only listen but implement the strategies being mentioned, I am looking forward to the day when scientists are required by law to occupy a seat in Parliament,
That is true, but he is talkin about FUTURE. If you think about it, there is so many things that are really easy to do today, but 500 years ago, only a few people in the whole world were capable of.
I know right.... its like when you say to your children that drugs, alcohol, or smoking is bad, and so they just dont do it ever...not the tiniest temptation to try either. "Education" is but a pretty word to not say brainwash and corrupt your children into thinking how you would like them to think.
Yeah, there's not that much ice on land. Just the entirety of Antarctica and Greenland, which - if it melts - will result in the sea level rising approximately 70 meters.
Maybe you misunderstood me. I say that there are hungry people in the world despite the abundance and waste of food in rich countries. The only unsolvable problem with crop failure is if it's worldwide. I think i get it, What if everyone in the world had x100 money (or gold)? would they all be x100 richer? No, because the world natural riches are not expandable. Will you build houses of gold? Eat gold? Money simply is a representation of all the goods and services, it isn't a good in itself.
We need more americans like you. It is americans like you that propel society and technology forward. people like joseph murphy are the reason why 9-11 happened. People like him basically begged for it. Their views can even be considered narcissistic.
We have solutions to reduce the problem, if we act now. But my comment was directed towards "there aint that much of it". Antarctica alone accounts for about 70% of all ice, and it's on land. I didn't say it will melt, I said that it will have a massive effect on the sea (not see) level if it melts.
The main reason why the sea level rises with global warming is thermal expansion. Water expands with higher temperature, causing the higher sea level. The only melting ice that contributes to sea level rising is land ice, such as the ice on Greenland.
