Fixed most of the issues I had with this project, I do not own any video clips on this video or any photo either, this is not for profit, but informational, educational purposes only, fair use section 108, I chose to do Mickey Stanley first in my new series of bios out of all the Tigers from 1968 he is the player I admire most because he was dedicated to being the best player he could be despite not being a great hitter but a good hitter in my humble opinion, Mickey had the three D's desire, determination & dedication which demanded respect a pitcher could not take him for granted his athleticism and speed made him a catalyst to the team, not to mention his defensive prowess, how many players have there been in MLB history that did not make so much as 1 error in a season? My guess would be not very many. He always hustled and had a great work ethic. If things went south he just whistled a new tune turned the ship around and had another go, I have always enjoyed reading the bio of players and thought about doing these for some time it was just time to begin, baseball to me is the essence of all life in the universe! That's all, I love the game and the player's stories I have always found very interesting. So I will be doing a bio every now and then when I have time. For a good bunch of pics check out my Pinterest page - / baseball-is-the-essenc...

I saw Mickey Stanley when he was in Single A in Duluth. I remember his great centerfield play. The team had Bill Freehand, Gates Brown, Willie Horton, Ray Oyler and Northrop.

His performance at shortstop in ‘68 world series has never gotten the accolades he richly deserves. But well educated Tiger fans know Stanley was a world series hero!

I grew up in Grand Rapids across the street from Jim Command who hit a grand slam in his first major league hit for the Philadelphia Athletics. We all went to school together. Went to games on Valley Field and the field near Chicago drive. His boys got broken bats from the bench and we nailed them together and played in the fields. I remember many Grand Rapids players starting locally.

I recall seeing Mickey Stanley running in deep center field and diving onto the warning track and the ball lands in his glove for an amazing out- and to top it off, he pegs a throw from deep centre field with his cannon of an arm, one bounce into catcher Bill Freeman’s glove for an amazing inning ending double play. This was 1968 or maybe 1969 - a play I will never forget.

A great video and narration. It summed up what a valuable asset Mickey was to The Tigers throughout his long tenure with the ballclub. A tremendous fielder and all around athlete to be sure, but also a steady, and at times a fine clutch hitter. One of my favorite all time Tigers.

Four Tigers stars ballplayers played winter baseball in PR with the Mayagüez Indian team: Willie Horton, Jim Northrop, Mickey Stanley, and pitcher Dennis MacClain. They were great and love to play. I am a Mayagüez Indian fan.

1968 was the Mickey World Series: Stanley & Lolich. And having Mickey Kaline didn't hurt.

i have to chuckle at the comment about "trying to find a place for kaline to play". are you kidding me. kaline was gonna play right field, if he was healthy.

Great point how he was a bridge from the 68 Tigers to the 84 Tigers, I would not have thought that he was around to play with the core 84 players.

Willie Horton traded to Rangers in beginning of 1977 season. Bill Freehan retired after 1976 season. Mickey Stanley was the best athlete on the 1968 Tigers. Many gold gloves. Great fielder.

In 1968 it was called the year of the pitcher. A 270 average that year was like a 300 hitter any other year. Stanley had a career year in 1968- the hardest year to hit he did his career best and was one of the top players in baseball that year.
