Wow, the difference with using the Micro-Glaze is incredible! Thank you so much for explaining and demonstrating it so well Nina :-)

I haven't used my Micro Glaze in ages, but I absolutely love how it brought out the colors in these backgrounds! I always used it to seal my chalked images, but I love how your cards turned out with the Oxides. Thanks so much for a great video!

This reminded me of a technique a local Scrapbooking store owner does that is gorgeous... I’d love for you to test it out and perhaps do a video. She uses any quality of glossy photo paper, and stamps an impression on it using Perfect Medium ink pad (it’s also used for Perfect Pearls, but one can likely use any sticky ink like Versamark, I’m nor sure, though). (A fairly detailed background stamp was, I believe, what this lady used.). Then she smooshed a distress oxide ink pad on a craft mat or laminated paper, sprays with water and smooshes the card stocky, inked glossy side down, and let’s it dry or dries with a heat tool. Then she repeats this several times with other colors of distress oxide inks, drying between colors. Once all coated with distress oxide inks, you can’t see the original stamped image. But, then she wipes the dry inked surface with a baby wipe and voila! The image she stamped onto the clean photo paper at the very beginning starts to appear and it makes an absolutely gorgeous creation! I thought/hoped that’s what this video was going to be, thinking your card had first had that image stamped underneath, but then realized you used the micro glazed background as a base and layered die cuts over it. Micro glaze is so magical with distress oxide inks! I haven’t been able to figure out why just a baby wipe also seems to have a similar effect... perhaps it would require then having a thin film of micro glaze over it to keep it vibrant and shiny, but I don’t recall being told that the store owner did that. Pretty sure she said the baby wipe was the final step.

These are so pretty Nina, I think I am going to try this again this afternoon. (I tried it before using glossy photo paper but wasn't happy with the results. I might even try that again for fun using different colour combos to see if I like them before using my good glossy paper.;)

Wow!! That is amazing! I have the micro glaze and never use it but after watching this video I can’t wait to try this technique! I love how it REALLY brings out the COLORS. Does Tim know about this use for micro glaze ??? 😂😀👍🏻 oh… I’m actually writing because I have a question: What is the white mat you are using???? I would LOVE a white craft mat!!! It really allows you to see the color. ......Thanks😀

If you dry the cardstock then smoosh it into more ink & dry again you actually get distinct layers of color that really show up after you apply the micro glaze.

Great tip! Question- if you want to stamp onto this surface, can you do it after microglaze? Would you use StaZon ink? Thanks!

Niña, do you stamp your sentiment after you apply your microglaze or before? Loved this tutorial. TFS!😘👍🏾

What type of craft sheet is that? It looks shiny that any craft sheet I have found. Do you have other recommendations to smear the inks down on?

Hello there! Nina-Marie used the Tim Holtz Tonic REPLACEMENT NON-STICK MAT FOR GLASS MEDIA MAT, which can be found here: bit.ly/38FCm2Z Hope this helps and have a wonderful day!

Beautiful backgrounds. Does the glaze work on regular card stock?
@corinne1691
@corinne1691 2 года назад
The glaze will make regular cardstock waterproof - example Kristina Werner uses it to protect the envelopes she decorates for mailing - but it doesn’t have the same effect on the ink colors becoming brighter. For that you have to use the alcohol ink coated cardstock.

Can you stamp on the paper after using the glaze? Thanks for sharing...
@andrealavigne7824
@andrealavigne7824 6 лет назад
Yes, you can! The ink needs to be one for slick surfaces, though, like StazOn. Dina (artist in residence at Splitcoaststampers.com) did a test with different stamping inks over the oxide/Micro Glaze treatment that you can see here: www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/general-stamping-talk-f17/can-you-stamp-over-distress-glaze-t624463.html. HTH! :)

Does the distress glaze have an odour to it? I am imaging something like car wax and not liking that smell. Thank you.

Does any of the ink come off on the sponge when applying the glaze?
@thefoxieroxie
@thefoxieroxie 6 лет назад
Recommended Daily Allowance of Crafting it does, another card maker I watch suggests having 2 dedicated sponges for it, that way you can wash one and have a dry one, and alternate them.

I use my finger and apply like chapstick! I find I use the right amount that way! You CAN add other stuff over the top unlike what nina said!
