Summary: - Using only creatinine to measure kidney filtration health is not completely accurate - Urine Microalbumin/ Creatinine ratio is helpful to measure kidney health as well as heart vessel health - Macroalbuminuria: when ratio is >30, the ratio is high and a sign of early kidney disease - Microproteinuria: when ratio is more than 3-5 in men and more than 13-17 in women, it is a sign of cardiovascular inflammation that allows for plaque formation - Men should keep it below 3 and women below 13 for optimal health

Hi 2/24/2024, I'm new to diabetes at age 58 and I got test results which I don’t understand. The doctor says everything looks good cholesterol and blood pressure are normal. All of the blood work looks good he says so I asked about the high numbers of the UR MIcroalbumin Quant which is 338.6; he adds that it should be 30 or less. 😮😮 My heart dropped because it shows 338.6, UR Creatinine Randon is 97.3 and UR Microalbumin Creat Ratio is 348. How do I get those types of numbers down? He should have spoken to me about that without my asking about the high numbers. I want to know what number is too high to need dialysis??? Thank you DFW. TX

Great content Dr! Taking 10mg of crestor and my CKP is elevated. Is that anything to be worried about? I take 200 mg daily of COQ10. Thank you!

Thanks for the great information. Can dehydration or too much protein cause a high ACR reading? Or a can a rapid increase in LDL cholesterol on a ketogenic diet cause a high ACR? Thanks.

What does that criterion of at least 3 to 5 mcg/mg refer to? Is that the creatinine itself or the microalbumin/creatinine ratio?

I am a chiropractor. I have a patient who had such intense sacroiliac joint pain that he felt nauseous and threw up from palpation. I sent him to md for xrays and blood testing for esr crp and whatever the md felt he wanted to look at. Bloodwork showed inc esr but crp ok. But, what i cant figure out was that his eGFR was normal but his urine albumin and urine creatinine were high, and ratio was high. Also had leukocytosis with inc neutrophils. Chol slightly low. All other results normal. Going back to md tomorrow for possible repeat testing. UA had no bacteria etc. Thin 30 year old male with no health history. Waiting for MRI results on lumbar spine. Patient hopped over to detroit from canada for quicker test. I was thinking sacroiliitis possibly due to autoimmune disorder because of the insane pain response but esr only 14 which is high normal. Ive seen numbers way higher. Maybe mri will show that. Im unsure how inc albumin relates or is this just incidental finding. Trying to explain my thought process to the patient. His md says bloodwork ok ?? What???

It may backfire if it is just starting stage. I had diagnosed with elevated UACR. I reduced protein intake and it worsened the condition. Then I added quality proteins back to my diet and it disappeared!!!

@@nithinmm-tr9gx what quality proteins did you eat? I'm having this issue currently and am at a loss. Stopped my statin due to low back pain. Thanks.
