Clean parts are mostly for aesthetic purposes. I don't think uncrisp parts will cause any problems. it may be harder to keep your bases from merging together in between retightenings if your parts aren't clean, but that could be fixed by retightening slightly more often.

So maybe i rinsed too much and thats why it didn’t take well?

@@NapsAreTheNewBlack it's possible...if you do this again, rinse with cold water. It won't rinse clear, but it will rinse enough for you to be done.

Thanks! and I am really not sure why locs get lighter over time. It may have to do with the same pieces of hair always getting exposed to the sun (sort of like an exaggerated sun bleach effect?). I would say it is the henna I used, but my husband never used henna and his locs also turned a reddish brown over time. So my best guess is sun exposure that is more obvious bc the same hair is always at the surface of the loc and always being exposed.

About a week before it was just loose waves!

yep! I still use the 2 point just because it is easier and swells more over time than the 4 point

I typically use t-shirts or a microfiber towel
