Lengthy process, maybe you don’t need morpher, since flatening can be done with melt modifier if controlled properly. Just a suggestion. Kudos for the process.
My goal is to show the variety of uses for this script. It may be possible to get the required uniform grid using the melt modifier, I have not tried it, but I doubt it very much. However, in any case, there will be problems with a spherical shape - after the melt, you will get a hodgepodge of polygons.
