This co-pilot already stepped on the wrong footing. It is not even ready to launch primetime, but yet it is already 20x confusing, from the product names and service offering, lic requirements, beta for some services, all the way to the data being accessed for companies with a presence in multiple countries.
Can't agree with you more. While it's interesting with all its features, we've been testing 365 out but felt like some of the offerings are underwhelming, to the point that we would prefer to stick with other available AI tools in the meantime like MailMaestro for our Outlook, Read AI for our meetings, etc. But we'll see, looking forward to how they can beat the top dogs like OpenAI
very misleading title .... I am a Microsoft 365 Family subscriber, why can't I get copilot for free. It is NOT available to everyone, it costs $20 per month per user , that is insane poor value.
Would Microsoft 365 Copilot assist with developing Power Platform apps, Power BI reports, DAX, or Power Query? It doesn't say anything re: those specific apps.
Those are all different Copilots. (there are hundreds of different Copilots). This announcement is specifically about Copilot for Microsoft 365. Have a look at Copilot for Power Apps, Copilot for Power Automate, Copilot in Power BI (etc, hopefully you see the pattern)
Lisa, thanks for these videos. Is there a way for an Office 365 E3 customer to have enterprise grade basic Copilot without the 365 Copilot license? I don’t see that option in any of the announcements.
If you want Copilot for Microsoft 365 - the experience where Copilot is in all your apps (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc) and connected to your Microsoft Graph (emails, chats etc) then that is always a separate add on licence USD$30/user/month. The basic Microsoft Copilot - which is the capability to use GPT-4 with context in your browser - that's the part that's free.
Thanks for the reply. We’re finding that the “free” version does not provide the Enterprise-grade security and that there’s no option for that with an o365 E3 (at least for now…).
I'm still weighing that up myself, I want to get some more information first, but if you use Word, PowerPoint etc with your personal or family account, the value of having Copilot in there is the thing that makes the Microsoft offering much more valuable. I'm not yet convinced the experience of GPT4 in the Copilot chat in Edge is as good as the experience in ChatGPT. More to come!
What is the difference between this and the Copilot included in Windows 11 23H2? I thought it would be free for everyone and now i read you have to have a $30 license per user. But not sure if these Copilots are the same......
You're right, they're not the same. The one that's still free is just called "Microsoft Copilot". that's the one you get with Windows, and that you can use in the Edge browser or mobile app to use GPT-3 or 4 and image generation, with your browser context. Copilot Pro, which was just announced at $20/user/month also adds Copilot to some of the office apps - Word, PowerPoint etc, priority access to the faster models and more boost, and coming soon the ability to create your own copilots. THis page is the best explanation: www.microsoft.com/en-au/store/b/copilotpro
Is there a limit on how many questions you can ask per day? Can copilot also read your data on SharePoint and OneDrive s that I can make insights and decisions on my data?
Hi Lisa, I would love to hear about how licensing switched from PVA to Copilot (Studio), what new metrics/limits etc apply and what that means for legacy customers. Any chance you have input here?
I just want to uninstall it. They didn't even ask their customers like myself if we wanted it or not. They just shove it up there. That's what a monopoly brings you, no freedom of choice. FU !!!
@@LisaCrosbie I already removed it from the registry, thank you. I shouldn't have to waste my time on this. And surely elderly people, not savvy with computers, will have no clue how to remove it no matter how many RU-vid videos you show them.
The only cheaper option is Copilot Pro at $20/user/month but that only works with a personal account. It really comes down to finding the value in that $360/year. How much time does each person save or what additional things can they get done and is it worth more than that?
If you have Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise then you have the Copilot for Customer Service included at no extra cost - it will summarise cases, conversations, ask questions of your knowledge base, help you draft emails from inside D365. Copilot for Microsoft 365 (this video) is another thing, that’s the one inside Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint etc and has its own licensing $30/user/month not included in D365.
I accidentally tripped across "Lisa" a week ago ... and have been squeezing in her videos when I get a chance. I have assembled a 'must-watch' list ... her knowledge is clearly evident and her delivery is spot on perfect. I am a newbie to Copilot and related topics ... and have a looooooooong way to go ... but I have lots of ideas and I think this channel will be perfect. Thank you Lisa ... LOVE your work ... 😍
I have office 365 family plan. I took copilot pro subscription today. But i cant find the file reference facility in copilot in word. Without that, i cant merge content of two files to create a 3rd file
The issue is that copilot pro dosent have acess to microsoft graph, the copilot supossed to make those things is the ms copilot for ms 365, which is the business & enterprise solution.
I am working with CDW as a business customer not enterprise and its being explained that Microsoft 365 E3+ is still required and that Office 365 E3 is not compatible with co-pilot. Do you have any documentation on this conflicting information?
I did go to the Microsoft site under the plans and pricing and review the article. It states that CO-pilot for Microsoft 365 is available as an add-on(*3). This label is on the Office 365 E3 tile suggesting that it is compatible with this version of the software. While it is available for this license, its only for Enterprise Agreement customers that happen to use Office 365 E3 or Microsoft 365 E3. NCE or General customers utilizing the Office 365 E3 license don't count. The work around for NCE customers is to purchase Microsoft 365 E3+ license and then purchase the co-pilot license. I believe later on non-enterprise agreement customers will simply need to own Office 365 E3+ licenses for this to work but for the moment it appears to still be limited to Microsoft 365 E3+ as a requirement. So $33 Monthly for M365 E3 and upfront 1yr commitment for $360 for Co-pilot per user is required at the moment for non enterprise agreement customers.
Check 1:03 in this video where I show the plans with highlights on the screen. These are the Microsoft links: Header of this page shows the pre-requisites as Business Standard or Business Premium www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/business/copilot-for-microsoft-365?icid=copilotblog&rtc=2#Howtobuy Business Standard and Business Premium on this page both show Copilot for Microsoft 365 available as an add on www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/business/compare-all-microsoft-365-business-products This was all only announced on January 15, anyone giving you advice that doesn't include this may not be up to date with this new announcement.
Biggest pro of the Copilot Pro is that you are getting the AI capability embedded in Word, PowerPoint, etc. So if you are an individual user who uses those Microsoft 365 productivity apps that will be a HUGE value and reason to choose the Microsoft option. If not, you could really go either way. More to come on this
Based on what I'm seeing online, it seems like it's rolling out - they made the announcement first - keep an eye on your Microsoft 365 Admin Center where you purchase the licenses if you can't see it yet.

Yep, rolling out, but if I cannot wait :D @@LisaCrosbie
You need to purchase the Copilot license to add on to your E3. You should see it soon (if it isn’t there already) in your Microsoft 365 Admin Center to purchase
@@LisaCrosbie to confirm, I would need to purchase an additional Copilot license on top of my existing E3 license? Is there a 365 license that includes Copilot for no additional cost?
Lisa, it's not available for everyone. Only specific countries... as of yet. you are on youtube and people from other countries are listening....so try to be inclusive..and get the facts right...
The website says it's available worldwide, but I'm not up to date with legislation in every part of the world which might be preventing or restricting it.
