As someone who works with tech proffesionally on a daily basis, PLEASE make gloves!! having gloves that allow you to use touchscreens, feel comfortable, allow good dexterity, don't come off, and don't degrade incredibly fast is near impossible! usually when I find a glove I like, I buy 20 sets, because by the time I want to buy more they just don't exist anymore. gloves would be an amazing addition to your merch!

@@kaldo_kaldo care to elaborate? They are very commonly used, wear out, and good ones can fetch a high price, like socks, or windshield wipers, etc. Gloves that are comfortable, durable, have good flexibility, and can be used on touchscreens, AND are made by a company whose product quality, honesty, and customer support are proven would be a godsend to so many people. I may not be an expert in clothing or textiles, or even buisness in general, but I know that myself and anyone else serious about paying for quality would gladly buy this as a product.

I was about to say MS has been doing good things. I think people are stuck in the past (when MS was seen as the anti-consumer company), it’s Sony that’s been doing anti-consumer crap for the past few years, but they get a pass because of a few good exclusive games? Charging third party developers more for offering cross-platform support, what kind of greedy corporate B.S. is this? I used to love my PlayStation but they drove me away with their obvious greed and tone deaf responses to the concerns raised by the community. I have been impressed by MS and the Xbox team’s efforts to do “more” than their competitors. It shows how committed they are when they dump half of all Microsoft’s cash purchasing Activision-Blizzard. Game Pass is a tremendous value and without it I would have never played (and purchased) many independent game titles. This is because I could not justify risking spending money and time on a game that wasn’t worth it. Game Pass makes it worth a try, and it’s nice to get a little discount when you decide to buy (I know many people will only just play while it’s in the subscription, but I will usually buy games I like before it leaves the service). As a developer myself, I checked out the ID @ Xbox program and was impressed by the level of support for independent game developers, which I haven’t seen from the Sony or Nintendo.

As a school repair technician having to deal with Lenovo's BS on a daily basis, Lenovo has, at least for the last few years, been absolutely ridiculous with their security detail. One of the most annoying things they put in was chassis sensors, which is basically buttons on the motherboard that tell the computers bios that it's opened or not, making it insanely difficult to work on the computers while they're open since they would fail to turn on. These also had a tendency to trip false positives, as on my laptop, where the computer if held at a wrong angle would just turn off in an instant if not on wall power. It doesn't surprise me a single bit that they decided to try and lock chips down to their computers, that is just so Lenovo.

Why tech gloves are actually interesting, Here are 3 situations I personally found myself on and would find useful to have tech gloves for them: 1 - Full coverage gloves (with a bit of a sleeve to go into the arm) that all finger tips work with smart phones screens when outdoors during winter but that do not break apart in 1 year. 2 - Fingertip free gloves, to use indoors when it is cold in the house (not all countries have house central heating) but you still want to have your hands stretched using a keyboard and mouse for several hours. So you need something that keeps them warm but still able to "feel" the buttons well for typing and playing with proper grip on the mouse as well (instead of sliding out of your hand). 3 - Finger free gloves, when it is hot in the house and you want to play in a x-box controller or so and your hands keep sweating so much that your controller is constantly wet and sliding... you want something that allows breathing of the skin without overheating your hand but preventing the skin to be in direct contact around the controllers. Maybe some kind of big mesh. This is also valid when wanting to share the controller around across players and one of them is having sweaty hands.

AMDs CPU locking is a reaction to the NSA intercepting router and servers shipments to install modified firmwares. Burning the CPU to the manufacturers signing key is the only way to prevent such modifications and enable a chain of trust. Patrick from STH made an interesting proposal: AMD should allow to blow all fuses to reset the CPU for later reusal. It just can’t be burned to another platform anymore.
@johnhancock3051
@johnhancock3051 2 года назад

I wish I remembered who I needed to talk to from LTT about this, or how to get ahold of them, but... I know it's a bit niche, but if you guys could add a split keyboard example to your mousepad confirgurator that would be really helpful, since I use a split ergonomic keyboard and not a regular one. Actually I use the Kinesis Freestyle Pro, similar to the Edge that you guys talked about a while back. Even though it's expensive, it just seemed to make the most sense for me, so I want to thank you for making me aware of it. I'd frequently had issues with pain from my mouse and keyboard setup before, and after replacing both of those with ergo options I'm fine now.

16:49 Steam may be better, but Origin is actually terrible. The integrated Voice Chat in their platform is downright a privacy concern. There's no clear push to talk/mute controls or indicator that you are talking, sometimes it's so buggy a player outside of your group can listen in and join your group chat. This is not even something that only happened to me but there are forum entries from others having experienced the same thing in games like Star Wars Battlefront II. Anything Activision Blizzard has to offer in terms of multiplayer/social platforms is way better than that of EA's. I honestly think Battlenet is a good platform.
@Real_MisterSir
@Real_MisterSir 2 года назад
battlenet, in terms of managing games and social interaction (such as group management and voice chat) is arguably one of the best, at least along with Steam. Origin is absolutely atrocious and horrendously unreliable, to the point where no one willingly uses it if fx Steam is available as an alternative. And you said your part about Ubisoft which is equally true. By acquiring Blizzard and gaining not only Battlenet, but also the employees who have worked on it and their expertise, I really see them as more of a top dog than anything else in the current state of online game platforms. It's actually incredible that by current standards I would honestly only regard Steam and Battlenet as worthy of praise. Almost all other contenders are literally amateurs.

I used to like Origin, but it seems EA learned not giving a DLC about their customers doesn't affect them so it has been going downhill. I don't like Battlebet but that's a personal opinion. It is real nice that you're able to communicate without a third party (discord hasn't been a thing since the dawn of gaming). Funny story, I had a problem with my ISP that I would lose connection for a split second. Not enough to kick me of the game but enough to disconnect from Battlenet chat and not auto reconnect. Imagine that during a match. Oh, about the voice chat issue. I take you never suffered a line crossed then (forgot the term). I called my mother the other day and somehow the carrier directed both my call and hers to a complete different number. A man asnwered me and a woman answered her call back (both showing the my number and hers).

The whole "not having a physical presence doesn't require you to remit taxes" thing is a thing of the past in most U.S. states I think. You're required to remit as an online retailer regardless now. This came down as a famous decision from the Colorado supreme court initially if I recall. You can thank Amazon for this change, they refused to have a fulfillment center in some states (Oklahoma) for years so they wouldn't have to remit but it simply isn't a thing anymore. Purposeful availment of a state's commerce, laws and protections is all that's required.

Also this is apparently not obvious to customer service for a pc shop either. Describing the symptom of wireless dropping if I used the display port cable got them to send me another one, which had the exact same problem because it wasn't a manufacturing error but rather a design error. After that I figured out my self what was going on and got another cable that wasn't just another instance of the same desing.

MS is not just buying the company portfolio and name, they're also buying consumer data. They're also buying a reference frame as in "look how much AB can get away with, before people care". Ostensibly, they do seem to have their heart in the right place at the moment. In the short term, the greater evil is getting Kotick out of the industry so I agree on that front. It also seems clear that Xbox could monopolise the industry if they were allowed to. It feels a bit like they are happy for Sony to thrive- on their terms. To justify their legitimacy. A hair away from total monopoly. I’m not so positive longterm. If Xbox seal market dominance, it will gradually weaken Sony over time and they could easily lure talent away. Game Pass is accessible and more manageable in the short term. But it’s also £120 a year on top of a device. You’ve then got to start thinking about what market control could mean. Who’s at the helm… what does centralised control do to individual studios cultures? Will Xbox always be so ostensibly altruistic? In my view, autocratic industry control is never worth the risk. Better to have a democratic market that is made up of many different stakeholders with different perspectives. Collectively, they help to steward the industry forward for the good of everyone. Not just someone. Too much consolidated power always leans towards corruption. It’s human nature sadly. And if only takes one cr*ppy generation to rot the barrel 🍎

It's certainly not bad *for AB*. I'm actually happy they get to be proper devs again. But aside from that company finally getting rid of wormboy kottick, it *is* a big step towards putting MS into the monopoly position. If we reach the point where only Xbox exists, you can be sure the current game pass will not stay at it's price for example. So looking at the future, I'm torn.

The primary job of the team is more than just taking care of their own desktops. So even if this, IT person doesn't have to spend a lot of time dealing with level one issues, the more complex stuff is better dealt with by them, then consuming the time of a resource that could be doing other tasks. Would you consider an in-house collab between The Lab, Creator Warehouse and the 'shop, on making a proper ESD benchtop mat? I've been trying out GNs modmat, it's great for what it is, but it isn't that. Need something that doesn't soak up spills, tolerates grease and solvents, can take 200-300°C for short exposure time (hot air rework etc) without bulging (expanding), and isn't cloth top - that wears rough with daily heavy use, and snags tiny components. It's also less than ideal for tiny parts and components, if a dark one moves off the light area meant for screws, good luck finding it. You can get good quality mats from almost any electronics lab supply store, but its just all the same dull monocolor roll. It would be *really* cool with something different. Maybe greenscreen green, neon pink, eggshell'ish white or very light gray with little LTT logos all over in a slightly darker tone. So it's almost like watermarks, adding a little pizazz without getting super noisy so it's difficult to find a small screw or component when you drop one. Could do larger logos too, but I think many small ones all over or at top and bottom edges, would look better if the mats are made on rolls and cut to order size. Having them manufactured as individual mats, I think would be rather cost prohibitive vs continous 10-30 meter rolls.

Declining WoW subs and very few OW players. Developers flip flopping between OW2 and OW1. Lead directors, developers leaving the Diablo teams. during the AMD's PSB and remastered games segment, Luke is probably referring to a different game but Mega Man X5's bosses were named after guns n roses band members. The re-release of the game on modern systems changed this though.

MS has few Dev Studios, Embracer Group, has more Actively making games Dev Studios than MS/Sony/Nintendo combined, with 76 Studios, and 8 publishing arms. THQ Nordic, Koch Media (Deep Silver), Gearbox, Saber Interactive, Darkhorse Media, and franchises, here's just a few, hundreds more, they have the rights to as well. Borderlands, Brothers in Arms, Darksiders, Dead Island, Homeworld, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Kingdoms of Amalur, Metro, SpellForce, Gothic, Elex, … The studios may be smaller, but the sheer amount adds up to a lot more active games being worked on in total.

Embracer group they scare me they are so big and so hungry but very few talk about them. I guess it's because most of those studios are also in Europe it gets less attention. oh, you forgot Coffee Stain. Satisfactory, Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim. and I think it is funny how many of those games are labelled as Indies despite having such a big machine behind them.

@@jesusbarrera6916 Which is irrelevant, I'm interested in number of games they can produce, not how many sheeple buy a microtransaction infested yearly cash grab. As a single player gamer, and not an investor, or PvPer needing friends (Not really) to play with/against, I couldn't give a damn if nobody else buys one of these games. All that matters to me, is I get more games to choose from, and find a game I will enjoy, without regard to what "Everybody", is playing, or saying about it. "Blockbusters everybody loves", like GTA, RDR2, or any "melee combat" game (hard, or not), they can be all very well made games, but still not interest me.

@@ADMNtek I know I didn't list everything, I couldn't fit it all in on one line, so went with the ones I recognise the most, or have imminent releases, this year. As for "Indies", most so called Studios are nothing of the sort, the name means a dev studio that self published their game(s). CDPR are still technically "Indie", not AAA. AAA also actually refers to a publisher's status, not the games quality, and no 100% Publisher owned Dev Studio should be thought of as "Indie", even by the loosest criteria. CDPR changed my "Indie" definition, to self published, AND, not also a publicly traded stock, or backed by "Venture Capitalists", e.g, VC invest $100 million in new "Indie" Studio.

I'm sure that someone already mentioned this Anyway, about in-game cosmetics, and NFat analogy: Valve has been doing that for years. You can purchase items for characters in DOTA or different gun skins in CS:go that has been signed by, say, a talent or a pro-player, and there's either a limited amount of these items or short time window when you can purchase it. And later you can trade it on Steam Market. There are some ridiculously priced skins, and the main reason is that there are only a few individual copies exist :)

Of course, monopolies are bad. My only point is that Microsoft is far from a monopoly in gaming. Linus keeps talking about how bad things could be if Microsoft dominates the market but Playstation still sells more than Xbox, and the game space is filled with big, well capitalized companies that compete like crazy. Why doesn't Linus complain about Steam's dominance of PC digital distribution, for example?
@MastaGambit
@MastaGambit 2 года назад
Probably because there's basically no other PC game distributor that actually HAS a service that's remotely comparable to Steam. EGS is dogshit for PLENTY of reasons -- many of which are horrible and anti-consumer, and any other platform just doesn't have anywhere near the same kind of library. He doesn't complain about it because literally no one is actually TRYING to BE BETTER than Steam.
@StephenYuan
@StephenYuan 2 года назад
@@MastaGambit So if there are no services like Steam, and no one is competing with it, then it's a monopoly. And if what you say about Steam is true that seems to falsify Linus' claim that monopolies will always fuck the consumer over. If we accept these premises then Steam is apparently a good monopoly, contra Linus. Of course, what a monopoly is depends on how we define the market. If we say PC digital distribution, Steam is a monopoly, no question. If we say that consoles also compete with Steam it's just one company among four comparable peers. And if we count mobile, Apple and Google Play look like the biggest companies.
@MastaGambit
@MastaGambit 2 года назад
@@StephenYuan While it may be technically true, being a monopoly tends to only actually MATTER if the consumers are either critical of or dont like the service. If everybody absolutely loves Steam, then what's the point? Pointing out monopolies is ultimately about making things better for the consumer. What then if there's virtually nothing to improve? The idea that monopolies will always fuck over consumers is still 99% true; Valve is just an exception at the moment. They also dont have anything remotely resembling Microsoft's anti-trust history. They're a diamond in the rough basically

There is some benefit to running BOINC if you are living where it got below zero Fahrenheit last night and this morning. I run both BOINC and NiceHash overnight as if my computer were a gentle heater. It kept things at 60F even though it got to -10F outside before I got up this morning. No guessing what my landlord's thermostats will keep things at required. If I run the computer all night it will be 60 or more and if I shutdown before I go to bed, it may be as low as 53 in the Upstate NY winter.

Bethesda was still profitable but not because they were doing a good job. TBH they would've been good for a purchase/spinoff deal to retain 3rd party status. So, I agree AV/B was a good acquisition, but since they did not yet spin off Bethesda - as I believe they should - this could put them in antitrust territory.

@@ExelArts The writers aren't necessarily bad, they just have the directive to write extremely brand-safe stories that are appealing to the most amount of average people. Since that's an impossible task, the story is just kinda bad. But then again imagine if they contracted FromSoftware / Hidetaka Miyazaki to write Warcraft lore. That stuff would be dope af.
