As they say in aviation, time flies. The 3 year anniversary is approaching for flight simulator, and these are my thoughts on the past 3 years we had flying in the virtual skies together.

The beginning was a bit rough. Autopilot was broken in certain aircraft and then it would get fixed for one and get broken for another. Their active pause feature was broken for the longest time. I would pause the game, leave for five minutes, come back and unpause to have my aircraft instantly nosedive because it lost all of it's speed during the pause causing the aircraft to break up from the stress. It's working now though pretty well. Enough for me to sit on the tarmac, put in a flight plan, fly it and land, park, put in a new flight plan, fly it and land and end the flight and it will now actually show up like that in my log book. My favorite flight was getting my wife's flight info off of flight aware and flying the same flight plan in the same aircraft. I took off at the same time she did and eventually saw her flight in the sky with me thanks to the live traffic feature. I flew with it all the way home. Fun times. Also fun to fly in VR occasionally. Nice that feature was added and for free (looking at you Bethesda)

Oh yeah I forgot the autopilots were a little screwed up. That's cool you took control of your wife's flight, lol. I'm gonna have to do that just for the heck of it.

Very nice video! I'm surprised you've only got 600 hours in the game, though. Also, I don't think I've ever flown across America in a Cessna. It'd definitely be fun to do in my 337 Skymaster, though, when I'm done with my around-the-world-in-a-Ford-Tri-Motor Twitch stream.

Yeah I'm sure theres people that have thousands of hours in flight simulator. I dont do very long flights. I either just fly around or do touch and goes. But it was really neat flying to different states.

One thing that I worry about is the system requirements. My PC is really powerful in basic office tasks. But when it comes to the flight simulator, it can be considered a "potato computer".

Well the good thing is flight simulator doesnt require a nasa computer to run it at low or even medium settings. Now if you wanna play at ultra settings, then that's a whole other ball game.

I’m still waiting for military ai traffic. 😔 We have had plenty of airline traffic. But zero military. In terms of performance, it’s not bad for me, running on a 2080. In terms of bugs, they need to fix the ATC, they need to fix the go arounds, aircraft disappearing etc. But all in all, it’s been 8/10 for me. Runs way better than FSX ever did.

That would be cool seeing military aircraft. Maybe if not in 2020, we could get it in the 2024 version. But I don't think it should be too hard to add in. Glad it's been a solid experience for you though.
