I’ve been using Apple Notes for the past few years but looking to switching to one note. A few of the things you mention as negatives for OneNote are not really negatives. You can draw and hold to create straight lines and if you don’t want infinite width pages, there are settings to change the page size. So more options than Apple Notes, which is a plus.
Draw and hold on an an iPad? Doesn't work on mine, nor does page width settings, only available on desktop version. I know it has better options on a touchscreen PC, but Apple notes just got better with AI maths and AI handwriting tidyup, keeping your own writing style, but tidier.
@@MeeTimeDraw and hold and creating page size is not on IpadOS. Apples Notes AI writing features cool, Apple Math works well but I personally turned off the AI writing correction because it makes too much mistakes and moves all of my surrounding text to places I don’t want it. Microsoft Beta program apparently has these features and I believe are releasing later in October. Overall, with the integration with the full Microsoft productivity suite, I think for productivity purposes, OneNote could be better. Still testing it though.
I'm a long-time follower & subscriber, I have taken a couple courses - I really appreciate your content & philosophy -- especially around the idea of how to implement O365/Teams/modern work in an organization! :) But, I'm going to push back on this video a bit. In listening to the whole video, it sounds to me like most everything you said would push people to choose OneNote. The only reasons YOU use Apple notes is one lost page -- and, you use a lot of Apple products. (I do understand the benefits of "consistency", and choosing an eco system and sticking to it.) Disclaimer: I'm a big OneNote user for 18 years...I use the Surace Pro and OneNote desktop and the "draw a shape and then hold", so the line turns into a line, the arrow turns into an arrow, the geometric shape turns into the actual shape (and it works with a heart as well)...that all works well on the desktop version on a Surface (other Windows device running Win 11). When I write text in the title bar, it turns it to text and names the page with it. I'm not looking to start major debates here...just a light-hearted comment on what I thought sounded like a contradiction in this video! :) Keep 'em coming.
Hi Mick - thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment 🤗 I think we're agreeing 🤔 Main benefit is to stay in an eco-system. For most people this is M365, and good point, I forgot to mention the further disparities between if you have a touchscreen PC vs iPad (but something that Microsoft could sort out relatively easily) so good to hear that this is working for you. Also its a good example of where people make a first impression (mine losing work) and then not revisiting any updates. As you might be able to tell, I was surprised some things had gotten better since last time I used OneNote in anger on my iPad 👍 😆
I think the onenote experience is good, although too many options and that is why I want to use apple notes. I am in a windows environment so the web experience with apple notes is not as strong as I would like, no web clipping. Onenote folder sync is problematic and if you create a notebook, delete it, it is never really gone. The pencil experience may be better on onenote with the toolbar. Overall, in a windows environment, onenote wins with the Outlook and Todo integration.
Hello Bro, i have a question. I take office meeting notes in onenote. For handwritten digital meeting notes, Our company dosent allow personal devices like ipads to access office MS onenote . But how did you got handwritten notes in your onenote ? Does your company allow permissions for digital notes to be written in office onenote ?
I run my own company, so yes. Most windows PCs have touchscreens now, so not a great solution, but you could see if you could get a stylus to write on your work PC screen?
Hi Andy - I haven't, although I did watch a few videos on it a while back. At the time I seem to remember some reviews saying it either didn't really feel like paper and/or the friction wore away after a while anyway. In general, I'm not a bit one for screen protectors / film. Have you tried it? Any good, if so?
