Jay Y. Go and have a look at Apple products. I know, they're underpowered and overpriced but design wise they're the best. Microsoft's always been a bad boy when it comes to designing.
***** The Wacom monitor offers more of what truly matters to artists. And, isn't limited by hardware limitations or upgradability like the Surface Studio is. N-trig's technology is nowhere near the capabilities and preciseness of Wacom's technology. As far as DCI P3, people using pen technologies to draw don't care about DCI P3. Wacom will still dominate the space.
Not THAT hard. Imagine being clever enough to be part of the team that would design the space shuttle... yeah, now this crap kinda pales in comparison by a factor of around 1,000,000,000
The 5400 RPM HDD would be the first component to upgrade. It´s a joke even when combined with an SSD. The 5400 RPM HDD was something I didn't expect to be found in a 3K machine. Even the high end 5K iMac with 2TB fusion drive has a 7200 RPM HDD.
Ahmerd Ash Windows version of an iMac. Funny how I don't see the apple haters talking trash about Everything soldered to the MB. Aka. Nothing is upgradable.
Not sure if nonremovable was the goal, but it would have been pretty easy to make the thing a half cm higher, and add removable option. Heck. I wouldn't have mind if it was 1- 2 cm for bigger heatsink.
Yes, but 4-Grand for a desktop, which runs like a laptop, is for "take my money, I don't need it" people. People who need expanded performance already have another desktop, N.A.S, or cloud-strorage subscription
Bardia Ghajari I guess this might have interfered with how low the screen can be moved. They could've made it wider or longer, though. And the base model is a joke. 8 GB RAM? 5400RPM drive? No. Just no.
Wait, so you can upgrade this bad boy up to 4TB SSD and 1TB M.2..... That's a big deal. I would love to see the next version sport a ssd out of the box with a Pascal GPU, at least a 1070m would be great. If they figured out SLI that'd be greater. And maybe some hidden ports on the front that can be revealed with a sliding piece of metal or something. I understand their push for minimalism from a design perspective, but they sacrificed a bit of functionality in the process which is never good.
Supercharged and lose warranty. if you broke it you will get a new one because the replacement for the part is much more expensive than the original device.
emotions are hard to quantify as are opinions he feels that this is better engineering than iMac perspective of each person unique : vision the consequence of the prefrontal cortex biasing known things against the incoming visual information from the eyes : the brain perform personally unique biological analytics that form opinions using personal bias that comes from each person's unique life experiences against the reality of incoming sensory information that gives rise to biased opinions, emotions, thoughts, not a quantification: consider comparing only one dimension, the reparability of an equivalent iMac (5K 27inch) and you will find modular CPU & RAM + Hardrive + SSD : in a well made aluminum case that is beautiful & elegant manufactured with cutting edge friction stir welding, with a display quality technology that is unmatched if not as novel given that wheel input device compatibility. The articulating range of the display mount is a modern marvel of engineering for desktop all in one :)
I would tend to give it a 6, just because it's not only easy to open, but there are also no special screws with security stickers and you can easy replace both SSD and HDD. RAM and CPU would have been nice, that's for sure. It's not like they are trying to stop the user or someone servicing it, everything seems accessible.
Friendly Guy On Just Looking Around. there are three versions of it, this was the cheapest one, the next comes with i7 processor, 16GB RAM and 1TB ssd, the best one comes with i7 processor 32GB RAM and 1TB or even 2TB of ssd i cant remember
I don't know..why..but...can any one please tell me..why this channel is not having much views..it gets less views even than carry minati videos ..ifixit channel is awesome verry informative
I was waiting for this one.. The CPU is fixed, is ok for me. But memory. I wish it could be upgradable. That would be a shame if Microsoft will chose that path to demise Apple is currently on.
floex831 This is a stupid trend that does nothing but decrease the potential life of a computer and removes choice for the user. I don't even get it, what excuse could there possibly be for non-upgradeable RAM in a *desktop*. WTF? There is not even an issue with saving space(which I still think is a poor excuse) because you're not going to be moving it around anyway. What a load of bullshit.
Where are all the Apple haters yelling at the top of their lungs because nothing is upgradable?! Windows' version of an iMac is beautifully designed though. At least you can upgrade the RAM on and iMac. However, it's a trade off because it's A LOT harder to swap out the HDD on an iMac.
SaHaRaSquad *For that price* You're right, because for less money you can get a 27" iMac with a 5K retina display, fast storage and more up to date specs. With the Surface Studio you're paying for the touch option, but outdated specs and a lesser screen. Watch Microsoft drop the price on this bad boy in a year to attract more people away from the iMac. It caters to a very small audience and they won't make enough money off this small sector who buys it.
Wesley Jordan The 5k iMac is useless to people who need digitizer input(or far more expensive as they'd need to add a tablet). And when you compare the Surface Studio to the Wacom Cintiq you'll see Microsoft additionally stuffed a whole PC and a *much* better screen into one device for a reasonable price. Also, show me a graphical artist who needs more than a 980M for drawing and similar tasks. The Surface Studio isn't a gaming or video editing/rendering machine, and everything else runs fine. "Watch Microsoft drop the price on this bad boy in a year " And how is that a bad thing? Definitely better than Apple's way of keeping prices up while Windows machines wipe the floor with the overpriced Mac Pro.
SaHaRaSquad As I said, the Surface Studio will only cater to a small audience and the Cintiq customers aren't going to instantly jump up and buy the Surface Studio. The machine is overpriced and underspec'd. Apple's products are selling in droves so they don't have to drop prices. They sell to the masses. That's how you keep a business afloat. You sound like a butthurt Microsoft fanboy throwing that Mac Pro jab into the mix. U getting Mad because I was posting facts? Grow up. lol.
A 5400RPM hard drive in the high priced Surface Studio????? SMH. Microsoft gets a pass from the fanboys for this crap. Had this been Apple shoving a 5400rpm hard drive into a $3000+ computer, oh the Apple hatred would go into overdrive.
