Steps to fix your device.
1. Unscrew the two T10 screws on the back of the Xbox
2. Slide the top cover off
3. Unscrew the 6 Long main body screws
4. Unscrew the connection screws (x2) on the Xbox USB Connector
5. Unscrew the screws holding the fan.
6. Unplug the Xbox One X Front USB connector
7. Slide the main housing out of the bottom cover
8. Flip the Xbox Over
9. Unscrew the two screws on the bottom of the Xbox One X
10. Take the metal top cover off the top of the console to expose the fan
11. Unplug the main power supply
12. Rerun the wire with the power supply
13. Plug in the new power supply
14. Put the unit back together
15. Get back to gaming 🎮

Microsoft doesn't service consoles that are not under warranty, independent service centers stopped servicing One X, how unfortunate! I have the Series X, but I really wanted to keep my One X (gold rush edition) because that's my 3D Bluray player at my home cinema, and also playing a game at a giant projector's screen can be fun. I have my Series X connected to an OLED because it has better image, but Series (and the OLED) doesn't support 3D. I got myself a replacement PSU, I'll use this video to replace it and see if it works or not.

Even two years late I was able to switch power supplies from an Xbox with a burned HDMI port to an Xbox with a poor power supply, working great! Gonna be a great gift for my younger sister

Had a buzzing noise where the power supply was where other people had mentioned. Took a chance to replace the power supply and worked like a charm. Thanks for the tutorial! Pro tips: have the power cable plugged in to the consoleto keep alignment of the new power supply. Also putting back the top cover lid was a pain, until I realized one side (the side with the button I think) has to go in the tabs first before the other to slide it all in back together.

Our Xbox One X made a terrible buzzing noise from the back, and would turn off after a couple of seconds. My wife and I watched this video and decided to just go for it. Since Joe's didn't have the power supply in stock, we purchased it from gamersrepair. Came with 3 day shipping. We aren't the most tech savvy - just took screenshots and kept the screws separate during the repair. It took us about 30-40 minutes (we were being overly cautious) and it is now fixed! Thanks for this video! We are now going to use this as the "Guest Box", since we used it as an excuse to buy one of the new models... lol. $60 and some new knowledge gained. Worth it!

@@mazen3605 sure. The issue was the Xbox wouldn’t turn on at all. We tried to force a restart by pressing and holding the power button and eject button (I think that’s the combo) at the same time, but that did not work either. Since there was no light coming on at all, my assumption that the power supply was bad ended up being correct.

Completed to success! I will say it's easier to take apart than to put back together. You made it look too easy. Of course, I lost a screw in the process and a couple of foam inserts fell out...where they go, I don't know. All I know is that it works. Thanks for the video.

I have just followed the video step by step, brilliant instructions to follow and really easy. But after all that no luck with the console turning on but still has power to it because my pad is charging. If you'd like to send it in to our repair center we could try to repair the power issue. Very commonly a ic chip on the board goes bad. If not you could watch our disc drive video and when you take that apart, remove your game.

From what i can remember thats it. Sometimes a philips is needed but that wouldn't be for the power supply.

More often then you'd expect. The reality is if your Xbox is not plugging into a surge protector, your power supply will fail eventually. Even with the surge protector is will go out.

Have an Xbox One X that wouldn't power up - no sound, nothing. Ordered & replaced power supply. Now, it makes the startup tone, but the X doesn't light up. Hit eject, and the disc popped out and then it turned on... then about 10 seconds later, back off making the power-off tone. I can get it to turn on with either repeated presses of the Eject button or the power button, but it always turns back off. Ideas? Do you think it's possible TWO things broke at once?

Could be that you have a bad chip on the board, which could have surged your power supply. You can send your device into our repair center and we can take a look at it for you. Please email aaron@joesge.com and he could better assist you there

My day one Xbox 1X just started powering off after 5 seconds. I disassembled and cleaned it (very dusty) and Ive had the same results. I ordered a new internal power supply in hopes that this will fix it. In my experience with Xbox, there’s always been a problem with their power supplies.

I can play some games and do things that don't use much power like roblox, binding of Isaac, watch RU-vid, etc. But if I play rocket leauge, fortnite, gta, etc, it shuts off It's not the fan and I replaced the the thermal paste. Could this be a power supply issue? I want to get it fixed

My xbox one x randomly shuts off after around 20 mins of gameplay, ive tried numerous things to make sure its not a ventilation/overheating issue, to no avail. Should i now try to replace the PSU?

I would take a look at the thermal paste on the CPU, and make sure its not all dried up. I would also make sure that the fan is working properly.

Hey ALL... Does anyone know if the Xbox One X internal PSU has a "normal" sound it is SUPPOSED to make? Mine seems to be having what can only be described as a quiet, intermittent crackling sound reminiscent of the ticking of Morse code... perhaps of charging and discharging capacitors...IDK. I replaced the power brick on mine but it still struggles to turn on. I usally have to reset it then it works idk if the new power brick i recently bought is faulty or the xbox itself.

Thanks! I recently ordered a power supply and installed it (great video and really fast shipping!), but I am now running into an issue. I hear the power up "boo-doo" but no light came on. I unplugged the cable and let it sit for a bit and eventually the light came on! Then after 5 seconds or so it powered off and didn't display anything. Now I'm back to no light but still hear the start up sound. Any suggestions to what could be the issue?

My Xbox one x powers on for a few seconds then turns off instantly. There is a buzzing sound coming from the power supply area and when turned on or a usb plugged in the buzzing gets a lot louder. Would you say this is the power supply? Thanks.

Sounds like that issue is directly related to a chip on the board.

@@Joesge so I tested my console a 2nd time. This time the light wouldn't even turn on. I heard faint crackling coming from where the power supply is located. Took a chance and ordered a new power supply, and got very lucky. Issue was the power supply. Hope my experience helps you, your video helped me 🍻

Sounds like you probably have a bad chip on the motherboard. If you'd like to send the device into us, we can replace the chip for you as a service.

So that power supply says the output is 12VDC. Mine puts out 11.6. Is that low enough for the Xbox to not turn on?

Most likely just overheating. Try cleaning and dusting the console out. Also try applying new thermal paste.

Huh, pretty easy repair. Guess I should take my bricked One X to this repair place near here that does free diagnosis to see if it is the power supply and just fix it myself. Both that store and Microsoft want two hundred bucks for that repair and I can do it myself in 5 minutes for fifty? Sounds good to me.

I was replacing my power supply and this thing fell out of somewhere. Anyone know where this clip belongs? It's about 7/8 inch long. Edit: I can't add a photo of it like I thought I could. It's a metal clip wrapped in soft rubber.

I also wanted to mention that Microsoft will charge $300 for a refurbished unit if you go through their support, whereas I bought a replacement power supply on Amazon for $70 (Canadian prices) and did it myself with the help of your video. I have an xbox that has a messed up system and an xbox that works but has a messed up power supply. I'm gonna try transferring the Power Supply. Wish me luck.

I used mine to charge my rechargeable flashlight, and now it doint come back on

That seems strange. Maybe the flashlight just asked for too much power and shot the Power Supply. That's my best guess.

Amazing that I go to the website to buy a power supply and get told that it can't be shipped to my location... In Virginia... In the USA.

@@Joesge Sorry for being this late... was finally able to order a PS and the 1 year warranty (as I hear from other sites that people have issues with used PSU's failing... not yours but others). Looking forward to getting this piece in and getting it into my system. Was definitely NOT a fun weekend when my nieces came of, I hot the power on my Xbox series one X and nothing happened... 4 days after updating everything on it... an no storm or anything.. AND plugged into a surge suppressor.

Looks simple enough. Mine has just died. I’ve never had a dead console before! I’ve mostly had Nintendo systems growing up which seem to be indestructible

Swapped out the power supply and did not fix it. Shit still does what it did before. Powers on then shuts off after 5 seconds. Wasted money once again.

@@Joesge cool! I had to get a power supply from Amazon but I'll be following these steps & see if it works. Apparently the screw threads are too big but it should still work
