I also find it very hard to just enjoy the moment for what it is. I just view most things with cynicism and humor. It's like I'm providing commentary in my head for the movie that is my life.
John, one more thing. I have wondered about that phrase, "Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom." So, seeing that in Hebrew, it says more than just that, I spent a FEW WEEKS doing research. The first part I saw was this, "Fear of embarrassing HIM." The Lord then told me, "See how when you lost respect for your father, you began making more mistakes. You don't fear embarrassing someone you don't respect." Secondly, he said, "When you disobey me, I lose respect for YOU, so you don't care that people don't respect you because you no longer respect yourself. Respect me, and I will respect you. Appreciate me, then I will appreciate you. When you get that respect and appreciation back, you never want to disappoint, so you will slow down to do things right, rather than try to just do THINGS BIG!"
Just returned from a trip so a little late to the protests for climate change conversation. We visited a few former communist countries. Watch some local tv at times and the majority of news reports or shows were about climate change. They are obsessed with it and one would think that the world is going to "die" in 5 years. The governments dictate what "rules" the people need to follow with regard to various aspects of life-energy usage, trash, and consumables. We felt like the governments are instilling fear of climate change in their people as a way to control them as they did for decades under communism. Even saw this attitude in England. If you visit, you would notice it for sure.

The ppl protesting circumcision.. I just can’t. Forgive your parents dude! And nobody is forcing you to get your kid circumcised. You do you & let other ppl make their own parenting decisions.
I was glad to hear about these folks when I researched whether or not to circumcise my son. They're not just raging; they're educating those of us interested in making informed decisions. No one else really discusses the downsides of an unnecessary "medical" procedure.

You don't need to be perfect to call out an injustice, especially when the people you're calling out have a hand in your brokenness. He needs spiritual intervention as much as, or more than, he needs a psychotropic one.
