Great content per usual James. The best golf club content on RU-vid by far! Cheers

I'm pretty new at golf, just been playing for a month. But just picking up a fairly cheap putter, gave me SO much more confidence than they cheap beginner set putter I now have. Both the look and feel, without even trying to put a ball, made me trust it so much more.

Great video again James and great to see Mark in there giving some club golfers an insight into what could be expected from a test. Of course we all want more distance but for me i need to be comfortable with what i see looking down at the ball and clubhead and also something you are fairly confident is going to find the fairway makes a huge difference...

Great drivers, really pleased to hit all of them 😀. Titleist were at the club on Monday, I was fitted to the TS2 which gave me much more consistency in the dispersion, I hit the TS3 further but my avg was greater for the TS2. On the range the distance for the TS2 was 226 carry and 252 length with spin of 2500!
@robertcourt8593

How does that compare to your current driver? Are you considering a change?
@markspriggs1962
@markspriggs1962 5 лет назад
Would consider it, the TS2 was always a strong rival to the M6 for me 😀 need to compare both head to head before making a final decision. Real key is the Titleist doesn’t have as forgiving a face as the M6 twist face, so will provide more opportunity for shot shaping. Next video for us I’m sure 😀

James, love your videos. Especially the ones for mid to high handicappers. What about doing a video about building a bag on a budget if you were a mid to high handicap player, say a budget of $800. I think it would be interesting to see what equipment you choose. As always, keep the great videos coming.
@robertcourt8593
@robertcourt8593 5 лет назад
Yeah, I think that would be quite interesting. James, would you recommend a full 14 club bag or a reduced set, especially considering the budget? Personally, as a high handicapper who didn't want to spend a fortune when I decided to start playing again I bought 2nd hand ap1's 6I to gw a 5h one length and a 3w and putter which cost me about £600. I've since bought an f6 driver for £100 and taken the 3w and 6i out as there isn't enough gap distance between clubs and the 3w off the deck is a massive liability. I don't see the point of carrying a club I can't hit consistently.

LOVE THIS VIDEO ! ! ! Admittedly, I am an unapologetic Titleist fanboy! So how could I not love this! I've tried both the TS2 & TS3 and I didnt really like the look of the TS2 very much. It just looked a bit closed and big to me. I hooked everything with it! The TS3 is currently in the bag and rates as my all-time favorite driver. It's going to take ALOT to take it out of my bag!

I had a two fittings a few months ago. in that fitting I tried 6 different driver with all at 9.5 and the same shafts. (just like you are doing now) Some of the drivers were really nice looking and had a good sound but I could not hit them consistently. All over the place. So looks do not influence me but a good grouping and flight is the winner for me.

A slightly better test process would be to cycle through the clubs, rather than hitting 6-6-6-6, hit 1234-1234-1234... Helps remove any test bias due to warming up, fatigue, etc. Also, if you hit a few more trials, I would be tempted to remove the highest and lowest result from each sample.

James and Mark, would love to see this test done over three separate sessions. Last time was TS2, this time TS3, next time? Hypothesis - yes there may be some drivers you can rule out completely, but as for the rest, it will depend on how you are swinging on the day as to which driver suits. So it is all a bit of a lottery for average golfers. Would also be an interesting experiment to do this with four different makes of driver.

He's blind lol, there's loads of difference between them all. The ts1 is noticeably elongated. Glad you're doing the midhandicap testing still. I wish someone would do 3-4 ranges of swing speed testing. 110 plus, 90's, 80's, and senior. I'm always looking for my dad, but no one is reviewing for senior flex. Great vid still...

Love these videos. I got fitted for a TS2 with the 65gr EvenFlow White. Though as I understand it, the TS3 would be for a lower handicapper (I'm a 4 myself), I got better numbers with the TS2.

TS3 is the best driver on the market, the new TS1 & TS4 just gives us golfers more choices and won’t fit everyone. If you don’t bring out different versions for the slower and quicker speed players ‘you get slated’ and if you do ‘you get slated’ can’t win either way, although timing could of been better 😀

I'd like to see what the swing weight of all four were with the shaft you chose. I'd bet the TS1 is significantly different than the others. Would it have made a big difference, perhaps in ball speed and timing? With a 90-95 MPH swing speed, I'd think something along the lines of a Tensei Blue would have been a better comparison for weight, launch, and spin than the heavier, stiffer, lower launch and spin EvenFlow. But, great comparison and insightful test. I'm not completely surprised with the results. The TS2 and TS3 are where the vast majority of golfers will end up being.
@scottsdale51

So glad your still testing Titleist...I bought a driver this year and TS3 beat them all out for me. It seems most channels have fallen in love with the newer drivers and titleist is not even worth considering when it’s as good or better than the new TM, Ping, Cobra drivers
@wallstreetoneil
@wallstreetoneil 5 лет назад
The TS1 is for retirees & 95# teens and smaller women - all who would benefit with 40g shafts. The TS4 is for people playing on Pro Tours for pay cheques. The TS3 is a 2200rpm driver and the TS2 is a 2500rpm driver. If you are a good driver of the ball chose the TS3, if you are less good, rpms are your friend so choose the TS2

I’m a low to mid handicapper (+6) and I prefer the smaller heads. I’m currently still using a 915 D3, I absolutely HATED the TS2 and TS3 but I think I could get back on board with the TS4. Also, I really like that they brought back their strike marker, it’s the best in the business. If anyone from PING reads this, please bring back the half moon. As a PING diehard I just can’t come to game those ugly drivers... gloss finish, half moon. Respectfully, a fan.
@thehairygolfer
@thehairygolfer 5 лет назад
If I pick the low spin head I could end up being fitted with a shaft that helps me get the ball up to improve carry. If I pick the high spin head I could end up with a different shaft that reduces height and spin. Am I right there? If so fitting could take a very long time with 4 heads to choose from. I appreciate that creating a head for sub 85mph is a damn good idea but it just adds to confusion. Hate to say it but lot's of people have wrongly bought into low spin clubs and it's hurting their game.

Hi James, I tested the titleist drivers over the weekend and found the ts2 suited me better even though I'm 8 hcap. Just a quick question about the shaft you used, it was the Project X evenflow white t1100? Was this reg or stiff because I tried this shaft with an average 98mph swing speed and it was low spin and low launch. Do you think Mark would be suited into one of the other stock shafts which are available with a lower swing speed. Great channel BTW love the content.

Could Mark have done better with the TS4 if he'd had time to learn the driver? My issue with this kind of testing is every driver is different, and every swing is different. If we were just pulling off the rack and playing, one club may appear better than the other. But take a higher performing club, and learn to swing it, and you'll get better results. And Mark is fully capable of improving his strike with any club. JM2C

Distance u need club head speed. I'm 57 tried almost every driver, I am 5 handicap and Im not getting anymore distance with new drivers. Speed is distance not anything else.

James’s Bill in 🇨🇦. Let people no you can turn a TS2 or 3 into a TS1 as simple putting a pro launch blue light shaft from golf works any flex add Winn 25 gram ultra light grip any size and get the light weight from Titliest In 5 gram or 7gram bingo super light for seniors only I putz around with lighter and heavier they all are fun to try The 14 gram added to theTS2 makes it a sledge hammer boom baby just make sure you put stiff shaft in

I think Mark is losing distance somewhere -maybe launch angle? My swing is marginally faster (94-95mph), so 3mph faster at most, and 226 yards qualifies as a really poor drive for me. I would have expected total distance to be around 235-40 yards. I am not convinced that TS1 & TS4 are really needed

I'm a little annoyed with this video, but still gave it a like. Here's why: Can we get the opinion, or give the opinion after the shot is hit? cause half the time with mid to high hcp is that they over think things in the first place. Now you saying something ahead of time Mark would have a preconceived notion that "THERE IS NO WAY I CAN HIT THAT, IM A MID HANDICAPPER" a bit unfair to me. Should have been a blind test and see how he gets on. Further more no disrespect, I am not a fitter but Mark has a Senior swing he cant be that old.

So should car companies only offer 1 car? All 4 of these drivers are geared toward totally different players. If the TS2 or TS3 we’re not right for you, then you should have figured that out during a proper fitting. Let the data drive you toward the proper purchase...not brand loyalty.
