I remember I was at an Uproar Music Festival listening to the different bands open up and play. After the last song for one band, it was quiet for a while as everyone just chatted it up. Suddenly breaking the silence, this guitar riff kept beating like a half hearted attack. When Zack's voice rang through with what sounded like a slight echo, I was instantly sold. It was like they stole everyone's attention, and we liked it. Much respect to this band and its sound.
Supposedly the lyrics aren’t about Hockey, But Iraq War Veterans. I am a veteran of OIF and OEF. And this song was passed around a lot by Vets. I can’t say the lyrics were intended to be about that. But that’s what a lot of people believed and they gave some interview and said that. Idk. The lyrics do fit that narrative. But one of the mottos of some Veteran Groups is: Give Back or We’ll Take It!” Meaning, we come home and get shit on by our own country - and those empty promises of fixing the VA and getting our benefits just results in Vets getting evicted, becoming homeless, committing suicide because they don’t get the health care they were promised. And when they end up on the streets the public calls them druggies and losers. And say they are faking their military service. Sure, some are. But homeless veterans is a widespread problem. But maybe the lyrics aren’t even about that. But no doubt the veterans groups are where he got that line. But it is a sign of a damned good lyricist to create music that appeals to a lot of people. Not just vets.
@@neojournalyst The whole record is about going for something, in your life and don't waste it under the wreck of your doubts. Busy Bein Born (that name is already an hint) can be seen as .. you are busy, that each day, that you are living, is an miracle and you are too busy, to see bad things around you. It is about sacrifice yourself for your own goals, to keep yourself alive.
I'm on mushrooms listening to this while doing art and I'm having such an amazing trip that I feel like I need to type this, I hope everyones having a lovely day
Never saw this vid till today. Damn I miss my English Bulldog from growing up. White faced/brindle body Sandy was great man!! Loyal, snoring and farting were her qualities.
Im kind of a low life. I throw away so much of what Ive been given yet it seems that when I try, I cant get ahead. I dont know what this song was trying to say, but in it futility, I find hope. Most of this band's songs sound so negative yet it leaves me feeling hopeful. I cant explain it. Its really good gym music.
Seen these guys open up for Social Distortion in Ohio many years back. If my memory serves me correctly, 2 bands bailed and these guys happened to be in town and like a bull pen got called in for the job. And this is the song that caught my attention.
Hey bright antenna records when you gonna put this album back on iTunes, I bought the deluxe version, and iTunes said you removed the album, I paid for the full album and it removed the bonus songs which arent found anywhere else?
