3 months of work. Like ten times I thought the guide was ready, and then a new scar would happen. Also, this project made me hate Forthog. He kept saving me even after I uninstalled him. Ugh... Here is the guide to the written guide ar reddit: www.reddit.com/r/shadowofmordor/comments/7sz550/scars_guide_for_shadow_of_war/ This one has a lot more details, including bugs, and things to do or not do. I hope this sheds some light over the bugs that still plague this feature, and hopefully Monolith fixes them.
Clams no, because that would be grammatically incorrect. “An” would make sense in this context because “Orc” starts with a vowel. Besides, Build-An-Orc sounds and flows better than Build-A-Orc
I think it would be cool that there'd be a game where you get to play as an Uruk, starting from rock bottom and slowly make your way to the top till you become a leader. Where you could challange or hunt other Uruks to further your own goal, kill them or reqruit them to join you, and fight kingdoms to claim dominance of the land. And ofcourse be able to invite your friends to hang out or help out.
To make it Lore friendly *if* said Game were made... they should make it to where you can Choose which Era you play as an Orc or Olog ;D! Example: The 1st age during Morgoth's Reign, 2nd Age during the Forging of the Rings ;), or Even the Angmar Wars in the Witchkings army.... hell even the War of The Dwarves and Orcs of Gundabad/Misty Mountains ;D I would pay *good cheese* for such a Game ;) #RIPChristopherTolkien
There are mods for Mount and Blade that do exactly that. You start as the lowliest infantryman and climb the ranks while following your lord into battle. You even get paid wages and everything.
I feel the same way. I think there should be a stand alone game set in Shadow of War where you can create and play as a completely custom Uruk captain, starting from being a lowly grunt to becoming a captain and then becoming a leader that could take part in the siege of Talion's fortress in Seregost that he lost in the Blade of Galadriel DLC. Furthermore, I think it would also be cool if you could take your favorite follower in Shadow of War and import him to the stand alone game to either be the first Uruk you play as, or be the Overlord of the fortress in Seregost that you fight when you're sieging it.
Attention all gamers: The Uruks need your help! they're in Mordor, and all they need to get the legendary scar is your mom or dads credit card, and the 3 wacky numbers on the back!
imagen an online version of this game where you play as the orcs, you could customize your character, name them and start building your army. each region can be a server, you could compete with other players to take over the fort, you could make and brake alliances with other players and maybe even make custom dialogs for your character. that would be awesome but that's just wishful thinking.
Haha, that's great. I mentioned in the reddit post that the Stitch has an abnormally high chance of coming back. They can totally keep returning from getting decapitated multiple times, although I never had one return that many times, damn.
Isildur123WOT I didn't recruit mone becouse he only had mighty defenders and iron determination... And was dazed by arrows... And he was unbreakable from the begining, but we don't talk about it...
The one thing that sucks about the cheating death system in this game is how drastically the chances of cheating death decreases, knowing how cool the nemesis system is. I can fight a whole army of orcs 100s of times, and have 100s of a variety of interactions with them but none of them come back. They said the chances increased with a patch but I didn't notice anything.
@@jbetfifty5904 Thats true but there's just too drastic a chance for cheating death at the very start compared to how astronomically unlikely it is late game. I had a guy who got titled tark slayer at the very start of the game kill me twice, then cheated death twice all before I even left for cirith ungol. He reached like, level 50 or something while I was only around level 8 by then. I've conquered the forts of cirith and seregost by now but I've barely gotten any cheated deaths. Hell, most of my cheated deaths from this "mid game" point are from when I *returned* to Minas morgul for an eltariel quest. Someone became a "The Tower" and a guy who I killed twice at the start of the game also cheated death right after the Tower orc. It's too easy to lose all your best chances at cheated deaths so early on. Edit: woops I said the tower when I meant the machine.
The brand scar also happens if you let one of the slave uruks kill you :) They'll be promoted, then they'll talk about their mark when they run into you
One detail for The Machine : If you kill a "Machine" Uruk, he will never die and cheated death again and again. moreover he specifies it when you fight it and put it on the ground, "You cannot kill the Machine we are repaired to make us stronger" EDIT : Forget that lol, he's totally killable just mine doesn't wanted to die
You forgot the forsaken/nameless one. They cheat death from bleeding out and get new voice lines, become legendary, betray you, and get the skull mask. How did a professional forget this!
All captains have a very small chance of becoming legendary at some point. It is likely your guy got extremely lucky and got upgraded when he leveled up. I have encountered many Captains called The Nameless One or The Forsaken and they do not get upgraded to legendary just like that. Only one did after he came back a second time.
This is crazy. I had no idea that there were so many variants of Orcs that you could get and customize. I've only seen about 4 of these so far, and I've put 60 hours into the game lol.
Id like to add a sidenote on this guide. I think the legendary scars can be compatible with common one. For instance, I got an uruk to have the metal mask but latter became the flame of war (legendary burning) while still keeping the metal mask.
This was incredibly useful information! One thing I've learned through gameplay that wasn't mentioned here is that an Uruk or an Olog can aquire the cool cursed look if they gain a Cursed weapon on their own- it doesn't happen through Training Orders, though.
I have found that if you get downed by thrown objects and the last chance has a lot of distance between you and the one killing you, you don't get saved. At least, I haven't get saved, so that's a good place to start. Otherwise, yes, it sucks to get saved while trying to die.
Amen to this. Had a truly epic legendary nemesis arrive in the most bombastic fashion (ambush on a rooftop, fire all around kinda situation, you'd expect a dang bloodborne choir), then he hit me once, killed, me, and got instagibbed by "savior". Needless to say the uruk responsible was immediately let go from the company
OverEnglishMan "Excuse me, Mr. Orc but due to you saving me and preventing me hiring a potentially good employee I have you let ya go. You may take your weapons and tools with you as you leave. While it has been a pleasure working with you, you are too irresponsible and a liability to our Army here at GraveWalker Estates."
One of my most persistent nemeses in Seregost had wound up with about 4+ different scars, including one Legendary scar. He had the one that gave him the title "the Plague-Bringer", and by the time that he died for good, he had a missing leg, a missing arm, a missing eye, and the legendary tier poisoned scar. I was actually very sad when I saw that he was one of the Captains that Zog turned into an Undead, since by then, I had been hoping that he would cheat death just one last time so that I could recruit him. I got attached to him even though he was an enemy since he always seemed to show up in a way that had me fighting him in a fair one-on-one duel, and he cheated death no less than 6 times.... Before Zog turned him into an Undead, I last saw him when he ambushed me atop the walls of my Fortress in Seregost, which actually gave me a sort of Star Wars "Duel of the Fates" vibe, where it was just him and me in one final duel to the death.
This one Olog killed me and became overlord. We had a amputated metal claw arm right? I killed him and he became the stitch, but he didn't have the claw arm. He had just had a stitched up arm. Where did he get the new arm?
I do not understand several things though: 1) They must die and deceive the death three captains before him, but in what area? Same map, same game session before turning off, same saving of current game or what else? 2) I am in an advanced phase of end-game, and I have already met two Stitches in the past without being able to recruit them. Does this mean that I no longer have the chance to get them back in this game? 3) Advice on how to decapitate a Captain Olog? I can not in any way. Either he dies for an elemental effect (poison, fire or curse), or killed by a sword stroke, or simply I can do the execution but he hits him from behind without decapitating him .. 3) Since I beheaded what I can do and I DO NOT have to wait? I have to stay in the same map, I can not make myself kill by others, I can not kill others, but can I advance the time? Do you go online? And what else? 4) If I'm waiting for it to be reborn, can I make the graves online or if I die, do Regents make the rebirth of the Stitch anything? I would like to have explained these points well thanks.
Just go crazy and creative with your kills. Then wait and see if the nemesis system will reward you for it! Little tip, use online vendetta's more often to pass time in your world while being active in someone else's. Captains can be triggered into spawning when you come back
Great video. I've always wondered how it worked. Rather than risking it and triggering on my gameplay, I just recruit uruks from online invasion whenever I find one.
This explains why I didn't get many Uruk's coming back for revenge or to save me. We didn't have enough interactions beforehand. Also thanks for the info on how to get these various scars. When I play Shadow of War again, I will try these all out.
I have a few of these. Never understood what qualifies for them. It's pretty self explanatory but always appreciate video that defines the specific qualifications that help an outline the randomness of the RNG mechanics for games like Shadow of War that rely almost entirely upon it.
Hey, I appreciate the comment! I recommend you visit the reddit link I left in the description for more up-to-date information. Some of the things in the video were changed in patches that came afterwards.
I remember my first arch Nemesis,, The Undying Dark blade,, he was legendary and was a machine I didn't have a ring so I had to kill him I kinda missed him
Thanks for this video. Trying my best to get the purification scar for my last 3 play throughs. They just stay on the army screen for a whole day, and then disappear
I had a Stitched Olog by god the most persistent SOB I've over fought he refused to die, and it was on a first time meeting too, dude came back 5 times, yes 5.
True, we'll see how the dlc turns out. One thing that I think could help you: explore the steam community screenshots of the game, people enjoy to post the uruks they find. I browse there sometime to see what uruks people post, some key words I use to help in the research are "uruk", "orc", "olog", "nemesis", "bodyguard", tribe names sometime helps, sometimes even specific names bring some nice uruks, like broken shield, or scorpion, sorting by recent is better to get unfiltered screenshot which might get cool looking uruks... well, it might help you get an idea if you think you missed some uruks.
I'd like to add that bruises can show up on Ologs through pit fights, mine got a bruised right eye scar after coming back to life. He'd been defeated by another olog. They have blunt weapons afteral so this can create bruisings on your captains
I had and uruk come from shadow of mordor, kruk the black, after i killed him he turned into kruk the machine, half of his face was metal, i killed him again and he returned again but this time he looked like leatherface, his face wasn't even moving while talking, completely stitched together
You know the really crazy infected one he showed. I had that one but the orc also had a burn on his face which wa pretty sweet :o it's weird I can cut there heads off blow them up but I always feel bad shaming orcs 😂
One time i had uruk with metal face, pale skin, burned and stiched hands... He was titled as the undead, and when i was killing him 5th time he said that he will come back... BTW, can't wait for special ones... only brokenshield and forsaken comes to my mind
After all these years, someone found a way to knock Ologs off of ledges, so it might be possible to make those scars appear in gameplay! In the video TearOfGrace posted today, he made it happen at 21:20, apparently with throwing daggers at point blank range on a captain backed up against a cliff.
This reminds me of this one machine lad who just kept coming back. I bodied him easily the first time thinking nothing of it. Then he ambushes me during a mission. His name was now Puüg the machine. He "died," a few more times, each time becoming more made of metal than last. It was cool.
I have the worst luck with this system, I once had an olog who killed me 6 times, I lobbed off his head, and... no stitch... Then the other day I killed some random orc the first time i met him, I kid you not he cheated death 4 TIMES.
I saw someone who had a captain that was The Bloated and then he became The Flame of War. His right side was disgusting and bloated while his left side was burned. I tried to recruit him but one of my captains killed him before I could get to him
Golden Sekona I once shot a captain in the eye. He returned and said my arrow made him blind. He still had both eyes. Thanks monolith for creating a scar you can't physically see.
I tend to get the stitch more often when I use the Wraith kill ranged attack, or when I kill an Olog who betrayed me using a brutal execution (If it's not brutal I just lop off arms and legs)
I'm still playing this game even in this day and some orcs either died and came back without a single scar on there body or with a bag over there face. The other scars I may get.
So it’s been a while, and I feel I have a better grip on how to play the game, but... is there any value in playing Gravewalker? Are scars more likely to occur? The loot? I know I don’t have to restart the game if I don’t want to and I do want to continue the world I’m in now. One benefit I can see is that the orcs I manage to turn to my side will most likely be made of tougher stuff
6:03 I get an Orc with this Scar, he was my favorite Orc and I upgraded him, early ago he betrayed me and I shamed him, he became crazy and saying only "I know, I know that I know" repeatedly, them I put him to protect my Tower wandering for any player who invade see this Captain
I had an orc from the beginning of the game cheat death. He started off as Prak Bloodhound and died in the arena, returned as the survivor I then threw him off a cliff, he then gained a sick bane mask and became known as Lock Jaw. I tried to throw him again, but the poison killed him first, he returned with a legendary scar and became ‘The Poisoned’ He was then killed by my graug multiple times before I broke his will and recruited him, he died in the fight pits and never came back
Usually they return either with the burned or poisoned scar, but it is possible they come back with a combination of both. I was disappointed there wasn't a scar specifically for that.
I got a really lucky/weird uruk with a iron mask it was the first warchief you kill in the game that guy with the shield who's head explodes by me he came back with a iron mask and he got a different weapon yes i know weird but i knew it was him because of his voice and facial sculpture really cool so i dominated him and now he bows down to his master
I want a legendary orc that is exclusive to the machine tribe, the orc's name will be the hawk and they will have mechanical wings and they'll be able to fly, they'll have the fighting style of a drake, shoot them in the head or wings to disable the orc from flying for a short time.
There is another variation 7:27 there is little chance when they will capture your fortress and overlord when you try to save your follower he can get amputated leg.
I remember the best orc I ever had was a berserker who was enraged by fire, immune to fire and had fire weapons. He killed me so many times until I recruited him
I havent played shadow of war yet, but in mordor, there was an orc named dushrak who kept on killing me and killing me, but i finally killed him. Then, that VERY same day, he popped up and cheated death, barely an hour later! Luckily that time he was alone and i coul spam stun into finisher but still, INSANE.
I think my game is broken. This orc captain ambushed me and i was like "alright cool more loot" so i killed him, then he has this ability skill thing where you have to press a button to actually kill him so that was annoying but not really a problem. After I did the quick-time button thing I literally chopped his body up into 7 pieces. 20 minutes later he comes back, cheated death- like HOW? Anyways I kill him again. Did the button thing and decapitated him. 25-35 minutes later he comes back, cheated death. Now hes like 10 levels higher than before. (Im playing on nemesis btw) so im like: "well fffffuuuuu-" Somehow i kill him and besure to grab him and throw him into one of the nearby grinder things- thinking he surely cant come back now. Day passes- oh cool hes dead now. Strolling around a fort thing and I hear "AYY!" (Wohoo another captain im thinking). Camera zooms in on a wall so i have no idea who it is until I notice the Cheated Death... I literally threw my controller out of my window.
Just saying if yo have nazgul talion and are able to reserect captains just let your olog/uruk die and ressurect them to get the wraith scar also that only works on allies
there was a legendary orc with title undying, he states that a necromancer wont let him die. the person who fought him killed him many many times. some of the last few times, he states just let him die.
Limited scars that is bullshit, I dislike how Monolith crippled their end game by limiting max level orcs ability to learn and train new abilitys. This game is not designed for max level play and online conquest is too harsh for most players who wants to risk hours of time invested the online community never existed because of this. Risking a players time invested is bad design, great video tho looking forward to the special scars.
Is the cheated death still limited to 5 or is there now more chance for the cheated death mechanic to appear after the latest update? Also is there a chance to spawn another legendary scar for example the beast after you recruited or killed one after the latest update?
