I am super happy that my dentist is like you who focused not only on aligning teeth but also fixing my smile. After 6 months my midline is now straight and now they slowly closing the spaces of my upper bite. I noticed my face shape is also changing, its going symmetrical and also my teeth grinding is gone as well.

I have this issue , occlusal cant and even my jaw is affected by it ( it wasn't canted before ) , if i may ask Dr do you think it is fixable with braces only ? Knowing that i had braces before for three years and they are the cause of the cant and ever since my upper permanent retainer broke i feel my teeth shifting and becoming more slanted .

There's no way for anyone in the internet to you. You need a lot of CBCT imaging to answer and also a clinical exam

I’m upset because now my smile is canting. I wore these elastics for about 5-6 months. I always forget to bring this up to my orthodontist but I definitely will next time .

I have a natural cant on my lower teeth. Ive been in braces since February 2022, and they have me in posterior box rubber bands on both sides at the moment. How do you think my orthodontist will address the canting?

It really depends on the origin of the cant (skeletal vs dental)- that's a question to ask your doc who has access to all your xrays. They best way to diagnose that is with a PA xray (not periapical but posterior anterior) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TUZqZox_lco.html

Hi, (1) I have to use this same method but I think this is my final stage of braces cause it’s coming off soon. Checking other people’s comments, it seems like it the cant occurs. Should I still use this method or stop using it? Please help… thanks 🙏 (2) ALSO, while wearing these on, I am not able to rest my 2 rows of teeth sitting properly on each other so my mouth is basically left open and not resting due to this method. Is this normal?

I need an answer please. I have completed about 3 months of wearing Damon class 3 braces and I wear elastics, but suddenly I have gaps in the front 4 teeth and a curl in the left canine, but I am also afraid of the tooth roots being eroded. Is everything normal or what?

This is a question for both your orthodontist and general dentist. Be sure you ask for an updated xray- gaps are normal though during the level and align phase in the first few months.

so you're saying that there was no canting but the midline elastics caused canting? Are the braces still on? Are you still wearing the elastics?

i’ve been wearing my three rubber bands like the second picture for like 2 weeks and now one side of my bite is more up than the other like its uneven is that normal?

I wish I could answer you but without seeing xrays, clinical exam..etc, it's not possible but your orthodontist can answer you. Make an appointment.

Hi! My doctor told me to use this method for 2 week and he told me to come back to check how is it going. after 1 week the canting started to appear and I returned back to the doctor and he told me to stop it and I used the retainer without elastics for 10 days as he told me, after the 10 days he told me to use this method again for 1 month and then comeback for a checking session (if it didn’t work he will bring the braces back), but I’m kinda afraid of the occlusion cant. What should I do? Thanks for your time!😊(I’m using this method for 2 hours everyday)

It sounds like your doctor is doing the right thing and keeping a close eye on it- ask your doctor what's going on, unfortunately I have no idea! Can always get a 2nd opinion too in person at another ortho if you are concerned

3 years braces and I ended up with a canted smile where my entire upper bite seem to angle to my left and the orthodontist tried to have me fit for retainers last visit and i dont know what to do. He just won't listen to me and has gaslit me into thinking "well there's limitations and i should reduce my expectations." I started with 4 extractions and had big gaps closed with powerchains like non stop over the last 3 years and there was literally like nothing else to my treatment.. Just powerchains powerchains powerchains powerchains powerchains powerchains non stop powerchains. I'm unhappy with the way my teeth are offset and strange now and can feel my right side feels kinda pushed in and my left side pushed out and all my upper bit angles off to the left, and then there's a bit of a cant because of it. Idk what to do or say, and like I'm left thinking only maxilla surgery is going to fix it now. I really feel like expanding out my right side would help so much. Like the first 5-6 teeth on my upper right if he would just expand them rightwards, it would fix it, but he just bends the wire a bit and then... powerchains it. I'm totally at a loss here.

EXACTLY the same thing happened to me 😭😭 It’s left me feeling so insecure for yeaaaarrs because I feel so lopsided. I went to a different local orthodontist recently to see if my old one was the problem… and he also just did not understand what I was talking about despite acknowledging that there was an issue. Now I’m just completely at a loss because I KNOW what my problem is and I KNOW it can be fixed but I literally just don’t know how to find someone who actually knows about this stuff???

@@specificpigeon3945 I still have not gotten it fixed. I ended up having surgery for other stuff, but my surgeon said she said write a referral with my insurance for maxilla surgery to fix my canting.. I been ghosting my orthodonist but they've had the retainers ready for months. It's a really crap situation after spending like 8k on braces with being gaslighted into thinking everything is fine and perfect. .. Goodluck.. I do think TADs might help, or surgery. Not sure what, but like above just consult a different orthodontist or ask yours for a referral to an oral surgeon for can look further into it...

good question- I guess if you were in a super heavy SS wire that totally filled the slot on the lower and braced it maybe with a lingual arch for anchorage maybe it wouldn't move that much? Can't promise not at all though

My Horrible orthodontist messed up my smile using this technique. Left me with severe short roots and a Canted smile. Fully regretted getting braces it's not worth it. I wonder if not wearing my Hawley retainer will reverse some of it. not even sure. Barbaric experience.

I have a canted smile and my ortho put me in the front only midline elastic to fix my midline…I’ve always had a canted smile and braces kinda helped it but now should I stop wearing this elastic pattern? I don’t want my canted smile to get worse

"for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction"= it probably has to do with either your elastics being too tight/strong or your wire being too light for the elastic chosen. Please talk to your doctor

When I got my braces off in April of 2023 my orthodontist casually said “ I have a canted smile” and I had no idea what he was talking about until literally a year later and now everytime I look at photos my midline is so off point and it is really bothering me, wouldn’t my orthodontist atleast offer some options for me instead of being so non chalant about having a canted smile…
